I used to work at a job where one female in particular would always rub on my arms in meetings, lick her lips at me and giggle with her cubicle buddies whenever I would walk by. One day I heard a rumor I assume she started that I was hitting on her??? I made the mistake of telling her in private that I was not attracted to her and that I wanted to keep it professional. The next month I get a call from HR that the girl reported me for sexual harassment, saying I had been checking out her legs etc when we had our private meeting. It was one of the most painful experiences I have ever had in my life, to have my character attacked and being the laughing stock in that office for the next year for something I did not do. There are a lot of evil people who abuse this sexual harassment thing, and a lot of incompetent HR teams that suck at investigating. I’m so happy I work remotely now and don’t have to deal with crazy office BS.

I dealt with sexual harassment from my manager. I strarted recording him because it made me so miserable at work but I was scared to lose my job if I went to HR. There was an incident with Co worker and without addressing me the manager went to HR stated the co-worker was sexual harassment when in fact it wasn't. So when I told the manager to not open a can of worms with my co workers and some paper trail of some bullshit complaint that I didn't have anything to do with. I told my manager the things that he says to me were sexual harassment and that's when all the bullshit started and they worked on getting me fired and which they did. One week before my vacation. I was gender discriminated against I was the only female in the plant. But I was a truck driver so most of the day I was by myself which I didn't mind. It was just going back to the plant that made me depressed because of what I may have to deal with. I'm definitely glad that I made the recordings because it worked out in my favor when I was fired absolutely no reason. And when I say no reason when I asked what I was being fired for they just said to me I wasn't a good fit. But I was already there for a year. The recordings helped along with some video I took it to court, I went against them the gender discrimination and sexual harassment. I won! I love what I do and I will always put up with some bullshit but if it's goes too far you got to stand up and do what's right. I've always worked in a field where it's mostly men because that's who I am I ride motorcycles and I drive big trucks. I can work on my own car and my motorcycle. I don't take no bulshit, I'll ignored for a little bit until it's time to say some shit because some dumbass went too far. When it comes to the workplace it's not a playground we're all there for a reason I gots to get the job done go home without any issues like being told what are you hiring a woman for women don't belong here when in fact I could do the job 10 times better than half of those idiots !!

I used to be sexually harassed at work heavily, by multiple women. I just graduated and I started a job as a server. Several older women would rub on my and come out their arms around me from behind and all of this INFRONT OF CUSTOMERS. Eventually I started politely telling them to stop and literally not a single one did. One day in a staff meeting before we opened I went tf off and a lot of people thought it was funny. Honestly I’m so glad they’re discussing this! I used to work on checkout at a supermarket, obviously I had to be nice and polite to each customer... But you always get a guy who takes it as flirting and they become real creeps. One guy asked me to move in with him, one guy used to come in and make me random CD’s, lots of numbers given to me. One guy called me a “cunt” because I politely declined go out with him. I don’t mean to sound stuck up or anything, some of then we’re really flattering and I appreciated the gesture. But when they come in on your every shift and become imposing/ threatening, it can get really scary!! It’s nice that Joe puts himself in a women’s shoes and imagines what’s that is actually like! Edit: I should have pointed out - obviously it’s not ALL men! The creepers were definitely in the minority. And all this happened over a period of 6 years. Sometimes women stroke their hair by habit, and a guy interprets that as them having a crush. Which can get really confusing since some girls do stroke their hair nervously around a guy they like. Not necessarily. I had a female colleague training me for a job. She was quite free talking about her private life. Stuff like: "I fart a lot, because Krisztián f?cks me in the a?? all the time!". Now, I'm not into makeup. Because I believe it is a chore, and when not worn, it removes a burden, and helps women accept themselves. And being confident about being THEMSELVES is way more sexy, than any makeup can be. Now this colleague of mine was similar. No makeup. I would even say, she was attractive regarding her looks. But she was not nice by any means. So people around her treated her like they would treat a male. Well not exactly. Because I had the misfortune of being able to do her job for 2 years. It was quite a hostile experience. One colleague was threatening to kill me if I mess up. Literally every single week at least once. I've never seen anybody threat her the same way. But I guess, working in a factory, inspecting engines is quite different from working in the service industry.

Listening to them talk about cubical/office work makes me even more happy with my job choice. As a kid we are always told to go to college and get a ''career''. I ended up not traditionally graduating and instead earned my GED 3 years later. Spent my entire 20s and half my 30s bouncing from job to job either in the labor or food industry. After being convinced again to try and go back to school (traditional college), I only lasted 11/52 classes for a Bachelors Degree in IT. By that time I already had my foot in the door in the labor career by 8 years. So.... instead I went to a trade school. Earned all sorts of Certifications (HVAC, Electrician, Flooring, Carpentry, CDL & Forklift). After all that I said f*^k it and decided to earn a pilot's license. With the money that I would have spent earning 1 college degree with no guarantee for work afterward, I spent that money on multiple trades. Now as an Independent Contractor with a 4-star review I am usually outdoors and rarely at the same location twice. I have the skills to always find work and I dont have to worry about an office environment. I record all encounters with clients for contract matters and I am usually alone with completing a contract as I am a 1-man business. With all that said, I have taken the "co-workers" variable out of the equation completely. I can focus on my work and complete it more efficiently having no distractions. Means more jobs done and more paydays. Any and all work relationships will remain just that. All personal relationships are earned on personal time, like they should be.

If you manage to talk to female colleagues long enough you will hear all kinds of things that they have to deal with. It's crazy I've heard everything from sexual assault to rape.
@catzska5 жыл бұрын
I am a kind person and I have dealt with sexual assault pretty much my entire life. Men call you a bitch if you keep to yourself. Yet if you are yourself and kind men think it's ok to put woman in a position to sexually harass. If a woman reports any harassment they get deemed the issue. When the issue is anybody that expects sex from a woman for any reason should be protected. But we are not. We are still blamed, shamed and it still is happening everywhere. I can't even trust my male friends. I have been sexually harassed more by men I have known for years than strangers or men I barely know or don't know at all. I have been told to get over it and been accused of bringing sexual assault on. When I know I have not. If existing causes men to harass and rape then we don't have a chance. I would like to know why men feel it is ok to behave this way! Why the sense of entitlement to do whatever they want to a woman? I nor are woman here so people can harass and rape us. Many men still believe they are entitled to stick their dick wherever they want whenever they want. I have asked numerous men if they expect sex from a woman say if they go to dinner. I was told by male friends yes they do expect sex. More men said yes they expect sex than men that do not. I don't jump into bed with a man. I want to get to know who the man is and learn about them. I don't want to be viewed as that is all I am good for. Yet I can tell you from my experience, the men I have spent time with view woman as objects and not as a human being. An object for them to do whatever they want. So when is this going to change?
@SassanMedia3 жыл бұрын
It’s not going to change. All you can expect is for men to back off and remain civil when women are not receptive to their advances. That’s all. Society is becoming more and more sexual with all the booty on social media and easily accessible porn. As a single man, I know I rarely try to have sexual relations with women co-workers, as I know it will lead to some bad outcomes (speaking from experiences).

This is a reason why I'd never date a coworker , nor date a women who works at another company where there's a number of single guys. no way can that end well for me, no matter how well we'd get along in the initial dating. each straight decent guy wants and needs a woman of his own for long term. . the modern work environment makes that unattainable or even unsustainable .

I am a PA to a Producer in TV here in England and I am a dude. I also have a blackbelt in jujitsu and had 6 amature MMA fights while I was on the team at uni, all of which I won. But, during my first month at work I was followed into a stationary cupboard by a Casting Producer and he touched me in a way that was pretty uncomfortable. I have also more recently had to sit there while another very powerful man put his finger in my ear and then picked my nose, which I assume wasnt a sexual thing... Point being, just because a guy can physically stop something, I more than most people could physically stop it, doesnt mean you can in the context of that power dynamic. The point of harassment in the workplace isn't that the woman can't physically stop it, she probably could. She could gouge the guys eyes out or something if she needed to... its that if you try to stop it you can lose your job and your dreams.

Some women are indeed harassed without having provoked, but there is plenty of women seeking for attention and compliments in the workplace. Once they get the attention they want, from the wrong guy (the chad is allowed, of course) they turn against the dude and say they are being harassed, just to get some more attention.

You say “some women” then “plenty of women”. MOST WOMEN don’t want to be sexualized for just existing wherever they go, especially not at work.

I’m currently working at the workplace where I told a male coworker THREE times I have a boyfriend and he still kept asking me out. I reported it to the HR and changed my seat location. But even than he would still try to stare at me even when confronted by my and HR. I might have to quit it’s disgusting

I’ve been out of college for 2 years and been working in an office of mostly women. (Like 50 women and 10 men). And I haven’t had any problems on either side. I could just be lucky.

The amount of sexual harassment at my job (ammunition plant) is crazy and often involves management. We've even had two people make false claims to try and get someone they didn't like fired. It backfired lol. It's a federal facility operated by a defense contractor

A good thing to ask someone is "Are you jealous/upset that this individual is working their ass off, missing vacation days, dedicating years and years into their craft and prioritizing that over anything and everything else and losing friends and loved ones over it, or are you jealous they make more money than you"
