As an Australian who has many kangaroos on my property, yes Kangaroos are wild animals and contact should be avoided. Ive seen my neighbours dog disembowelled by a big Roo but on the hole if you leave them alone, they are no threat. I've found that when walking on my property, if you avoid eye contact, they will ignore you. I've even had an encounter where I've unknowingly been extremely close to a big male Roo and survived to tell the tale. They are not aggressive unless provoked and that only takes the presence of a dog to provoke a roo
