Still kinda on the fence when it comes to the creative utility and tweak ability of captures, but man, the plug-n-play nature of a great capture (like these are) is phenomenal! I got massively inspired playing around with these tones and dug out a Satch style ballad I started working on in 2002 to finish recording using some of my favourite capture in the collection. Feels a bit like IK buried the lead in marketing this however, as to anyone of my generation the 90s era Satch tones are the pinnacle of his recorded work, and, it seems like they’ve captured some of the exact amp and speaker combinations that Joe used on Crystal Planet and the self-titled record! The tones of the Marshall heads and 5150 with the vintage Marshall stained cabs are very reminiscent of CP, and some of the older fender combo give that earthier blues vibe of Cool#9 and IF. Anyways, tons of fun trying to get my fingers to remember how to do the rolling ball of mercury type legato! If you’ve tried the IK/TONEX JS Amp vault let me know your fav captures to try, and what’s your fav Satch tones? Cheers 🐝🎸🙏🏻

I have been playing since the mid 80’s and also was a teacher for a while, and we are a similar skill level. I have to say you nailed the Satriani sound with that song! It’s really good! Is it uploaded somewhere? I would define add it to a playlist to listen to. Now when it comes to Joe, I may be biased because I remember when they came out but, I still prefer his Surfin with the Alien and Flying in a Blue Dream tones. (Yeah I’m old) 😂

David really love the smoothness of your playing! You are extremely talented. Not many guitarists can hang with the Satch and you do it well!

Fantastic video. I’m a ‘79 kid, so 45. Crystal Planet is one of my favorite albums to this day. Great tones and great playing!

Thanks so much! Yea I’m 42, feels like the 90s were much maligned at the time, but I lived through it thinking the guitar guys that stuck it out were doing phenomenal stuff.

I reckon I’m a couple of years on you. Flying in a Blue Dream was the album that pretty much changed my life. I still wear the 1990 tour t (bought at the Manchester Apollo) to Joe’s gigs and he’s commented on it a few times as it’s clear it’s an original. The Extremist is still one of my most played discs and I loved the tones on that. The eponymous album I loved as well - I do think it’s one of his most underrated albums. That song is class, definitely going to pull the backing track off and see what I can do with that. Thanks for making it available, that’s good of you

yea I just missed out on those tours, didn't discover Joe until '95 I think it was, as the self titled came out. I did get to catch the first G3 tour and crystal planet tours, which still fresh in my mind! thanks for watching and the kind words on the track. Beebs

Man I love a bit of Joe Satriani. I think my favourite album of his is crystal planet or super colossal I really like that one too. Great content and playing 👍

Yea crystal is chefs kiss. I never really checked out much properly beyond strange beautiful music. I’ll give super colossal a go! Thanks for the kind words 👍🏻

I think Joe peaked on Cristal Planet / Engines of Creations and made a great job on Strange Beautiful Music. Then his albuns began to vary greatly in quality, with great songs lost between several fillers. Then he peaked again on Unstoppable Momentum, a major album, with an incredible band backing him up. After that, he again released very heterogenous records. His last one (The Elephants of Mars) is great, with cool arrangements, but the best solos on the album are from Ray (the keyboard player of his current band). I love Sach and there are things that he is just a major master, GOAT level, guitarist. But he's also limited in many areas, and have never shown any urge to change that. He's stuck on his comfort zone, for the good and for the bad. It's up to us to accept it and just enjoy or stay away.

Nice playing bro! IK missed a trick in another area, they didnt capture his JSX rig which was all over the Crystal Planet album.That Mini Collosal capture was a waste of time IMO. Also another issue (Quote me if im wrong) but you can't use your own IR's with these amps right? For me thats a deal breaker if so.

Can someon explain this pedal to me please? Do I have to download software onto it from somewhere? Can it store more than one download or do I have to delete one before downloading another? Thanks in advance?
@FuzzWoof3 ай бұрын
It comes with many captures already preinstalled, but to add new ones you need to transfer them from a Mac or PC with the ToneX software. The full ToneX pedal can store 150 presets.

@@FuzzWoof Thank you for taking the time to reply. Would you say that this would negate the need to own an AC30,Marshall,Fender or do I buy myself one amp to end all amps and be done with it? …. for now ;)
@Harbaksh12343 ай бұрын
I have to disagree mate. The Extremist is very 'earthy' and live. Anyway, I am loving the ToneX Vault captures, too! :-)
