Thats a classic yngwie tone, nothing clean about it, he’s running on low gain and letting an overdrive pedal do all the work... its pretty much how everyone gets that “clean” shred tone. His note dynamics are to accentuated for him to be playing on a clean channel. Also single coils help bring out that bright chimey kinda clean sound even threw distortion/gain. But enough about the tone, this kid is a strait up monster, cant wait to see where he goes in the future. Definitely a guitar genius. He has motivated me to reach the next level!

maidenforever999 yes I didn’t literally mean on a clean channel just more that so many people cover yngwie songs with massive amounts of distortion and reverb that compared to them he is incredibly clean. Amazing player

Black Metal Golfer my bad brother! I used to be one of those high gain/distortion guys exactly. And i could never sound as smooth and clean as my guitar idols till i lowered the gain on my rigs and introduced the overdrive. Too much gain kills any dynamics and clarity one wants for that liquid shred tone. When i play strats Stumps or Yngwie’s tone is what i aim for, probably one of the sickest guitar tones ever and its been nearly 40 years!. And for my other humbucker loaded guitars i like to get a more rounded fluid tone a la Petrucci. Iv never been much of a rig guy so i never used effect pedals with my amps when i was younger. Took inspiration from angus young back in the day. I remember reading an article with him stating that he preferred to play threw his amps normally without any pedalboards as he dint like to over complicate his setup. Now today (been about 7 years) i use guitar rig 5 and its the first time i get to meddle with pro style setups and plug ins from my favourite guitars players and holy shit, i went from sounding good threw my shit box peavy rage to sounding like god him self threw the new rig. Crazy the stuff you can do with a pedalboard the size of a 40inch flat screen tv crammed into a computer.

Well, I did quit around 20 and stopped playing and practicing for about 25 years. It made me ill. (There were additional reasons, but I definitely lost a part of who I really am, without making music). At the age of 45 I started again. I had no hope of achieving anything. And letting go of any "Rockstar Guitar Hero" dreams actually helped me. Anyway I was more into Jazz, where it is part of the show to be bald and wear glasses and have the guitar right under your chin. Practicing again actually helped me, getting my depressions under control. Because even if I feel sad, I can still noodle through Arpeggios and scales. And I can do this, while watching sitcoms, that cheer me up a little bit. And today I am 56 years old and I am invited to play a Bebop Programm at a Guitarfestival. I sometimes feel sorry for the lost years. But I reached in my "old" age a level I never even dreamed of.

The tool he uses is really good, though. It's just people who blame it on the instrument when they fail. These cheap Squires are playable if set up properly, and let's not forget that you need to re-check your adjustments every time you change strings regardless of how expensive it is. I myself have a cheapo Warwick RockBass with five strings on it, it plays and sounds very good besides it's a 5 string bass for as low as $400-a price of just ten string packs for a 5-string. It doesn't feel superior to more expensive and quality basses, but it works both in the mix and on stage. I've never heard people complaining about my instrument, so they highly likely don't give a fuck about your gear until it fails in an obvious way. So, turns out the cheap tools most players shit on are actually good, it's their playing that sounds like ass.

Actually this dude is doing exactly what he should not do as a talented musician. Music is not about showing off, for now his world revolves arround guitar and highschool, so his talent makes up for the lack of charisma and the fact he's not very good looking, this allows him to get attention etc, but the dude is never going to become a star, the world is full of this internet virtuoso playing non original kinda generic virtuose pieces. His face is absolutly insuferable, and on a stage, well... XD let's politly say the dude is not a stage freak, the least we can say. There was a guy just like him in highschool, now he's a cashier. The most terrible fate these kind of people can have is getting old, because as they get older it gets less and less impressive
@estebanrojasr

@@engineering7530 Damn man...such negativity. Yngwie is not good looking either and look where he is. Physical aspect has little to do if one really want to do something. Internet is full of great an talented guitar players, yes. But this guys stands out clearly. While some people need to look at the face to get excited, I personally only need to listen to the music and watch his flawless technique.
@engineering7530
@engineering7530 3 жыл бұрын
@@estebanrojasr I've been misunderstood, I have no problem with the way he looks, my problem is what's to be seen, and heard, the music is virtuose but generic, far from a Jason Becker for instance, no humility + dumb overconfident faces. All I'm saying is that if he could see himself the way I perceive him and many other do as well (cause I'm not the only one who think these kind of guitarist are insuferable) well he would probably give in to humility and explore other dimensions of music. As mentioned before, these kind of guitarist either become excellent composer and live off their art, either end up cashier at the Macdonald because they could not overcome the fact they were good at the instrument, needed to cash up as many attention as they could while young in stead of furthering their ambitions/perspective. As I said the worst that can happen to that kind of profile is to get old, because the sea wears off, and then they are just talented and nothing more.Listen to Jason Backer, you'll see, it's a whole different thing, he was the same age when he recorded its first album, and the least we can say is that it's uncomparable with this little brat. Jason Becker moxed so many style, his game is so original, it's not just the usual and generec shredder, nowadays beckers suffers from ALS, he can no longer move, and yet he still composes music.
@juankplaysmusic
@juankplaysmusic 3 жыл бұрын
@@engineering7530 You are dismising this "little brat" (which I consider probably the most exciting young electric guitar player in the world right now) too easily. Many actually find refreshing that Max isn´t putting up the same old "I´ll ravage your sister while I play this solo shirtless and in spandex pants" glam/rock attitude persona. In his short carreer, Max has showed us that his playing is not generic at all, just go listen to his fusion stuff, the kid can clearly write some awesome fresh and impressive guitar parts! You got some valid observations though about how his "boring face" will this affect his gigs and overall audience reach, but keep in mind is totally possible he keeps working as an "Internet" virtuoso (haven´t you noticed they want us to live on virtuality 24/7? I have). Ps: I always thought Malmsteen or Friedman were much more expressive and soulful than Becker btw, but hey to each their own.
@engineering7530
@engineering7530 3 жыл бұрын
@@juankplaysmusic Maybe, time will say, but there is another factor, the internet, the thing which you seem to precisely stand as an advantage is I believe the opposite, internet kinda ruined the game, the amount of over talented guitarist nowadays, it's just baffling. Also, that music genre has lost global attention, and so, yeah he will always be able to live off of that on youtube, until he can no longer, because of the whaou effect wearing off. No one wants to see an old man, (i mean don't get me wrong people do, but what I mean is that the attention factor wears off. What I mean to say is that he won't always be able to make great youtube money making videos, and what the man should do while he has that youth energy, is focus on learning as many instruments and style as he can, compose as much as he can, and put aside the attention whore thing. As to your reference, I stick to Jason Baker, for two reasons, first he is the one, the first guitar shredder whom I considered outdone the game in the sense, that he is the only to my eyes who generated this feeling, "oh another generic shredder, I hate this musical genre", oh wait, what??? What??? damn this shit is original and well written, a sensation I never had with any other shredder, as my personality makes me run away from everything that is generic which allow me to talk about the second thing, originality, Jason Baker is furiously original and the fact he kept composing and he still recognized though he can no longer lift a finger is to me a proof that the dude definitely deserves his place in the musician heaven. Malmsteen, is good, no doubt about that, but it sounds generic to me, it's the cliché guitar shredder with classical music influence, My threshold is low though I must admit, I have criterias that are very specific, first, if while listening I can see a long hair guitarist dressing as a medieval character shredding, then it's a no way for me, I would give to Malmsteen though, that where he is the best, it's not shredding very complex arpeggio, (he('s good at it don't get me wrong, but to my eyes, that's not his true value, his true value lies more in the slower melodic part of his creations where he has a very good touch in his harmony, harmonies which tells us he is a good composer. The point I'm having trouble to make is that what I like with Jason Baker is that, to my eyes, he transcended that genre, his pieces are intemporal, he mixed so many stuff together that's it's unique, Malmsteen it's a bit robotic to me, by robotic I mean, that he alternates precise shredding with medieval influence, with slower melodic part, but all of that is just put over a basic drum, Whereas baker creates pieces in their entirety, Baker is not all about making the guitar shine, let's put it this way. As to Friedman, his recent stuff, make me feel a bit like what I described earlier regarding this cliché, what I mean to say is that it's a basic drum, basic melody background the guitar is shining with thousands of notes, that are completely eligible you could remove and just jeep the harmony and you'd have the basic corny youtube music background, you know the type you have in generic cheesy love content and that to me is not a good sign. It's a sign of an artist who can't renew himself, kinda like stuck in a caricature of himself, that phenomenon never happened to Jason Baker, because he was so original then, that nothing has been lost, in terms of freshness. And I'm sure we could listen to it in 200 years and still have the same feeling of unity and originality in his pieces. But you're right, to each their own.

I don't often hear guitarists I'm impressed with these days, but this kid is absolutely incredible. A "Child Prodigy", maybe? He's also playing with standard strat pickups which, are a bit thinner in tone and cleaner (typical stock strat single coils), and the tone is very good. Everything I've heard him do is basically effortless... some things he's ripping, and acts/looks as if he's bored! Max, if you read this, do not take me saying "kid" as an insult... I mean nothing of the kind. I mean kid because, you ARE VERY young, and compared to me -- a long-time professional player that I am -- you are a kid! Seriously, no disrespect meant by the term "kid". You are a MAN of a player, but with years to get even better. I cannot imagine that considering the virtuoso you already are. After years of half-assed, fall-off-the-fretboard, "learn how to strum only 4 chords and you too can be a rock star" "music" -- an era many of us who appreciate good players have had to endure -- you are a guitar beacon, shining on a hill of accomplished guitarists. Hang in there and continue what you're doing... the world is in dire need of people who still accomplish things with their lives (regardless of what makes them happy), and who actually strive for excellence... a world full of underachievers who have been told by politicians and so-called world "leaders" they should actually be happy with mediocrity. Again... keep doing what you're doing! BTW... if you trade ego for a bit of humility you will continue to advance, and one day you will look back on your life and have no regrets! Oh and, STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS, ALCOHOL, and PARTYING... it CAN, and eventually WILL get the best of you in ways you cannot imagine, and in ways you will not realize until you start getting a bit older. Thanks for the vids... I truly enjoy them!

It is truly amazing he is calm as a cucumber, has no need to look at the fret board, no facial stress whatsoever, he needs to be jamming with Joe Bonamassa, it's just a matter of time. I have only seen two of this young man's videos, but it would be nice to see some Blues work. He obviously has speed completely mastered, would love to hear his slow creative blues skills. This young man is truly the real deal, just WOW!

This is great realtive to his tender age...I've learned that musical fulfillment goes beyond just blazing through the fretboard on the "shredding highway." While technical prowess is impressive, true artistry lies in exploring diverse musical avenues, embracing dynamics, phrasing, and emotional expression. I'd love too see how he's progressed in his artistry..I'm sure it's phenomenal.

They were just a small local band. They hit the stage and my jaw hit the floor when Joe started melting the neck of his guitar!! Lol.

A Squire affinity, yeah, I'll say it again, A SQUIRE AFFINITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We see Max do this on a guitar like that, while 95% of other guitarist are talking, well if I use this expensive tone wood, and oh yes, these pickups that cost me my months rent, of course this 3000 dollar amp is gonna sound tits up too... Believe you me buds, stop spending tons on radical equipment and start playing hours and hours on end every single day, forget the parties, girls, going out with the guys to getting shit faced, and killing off what little healthy brain cells you have left and totally dedicate your life to becoming a great, fantabulous, incredible guitarist like Max here... And even if we did all of the mentioned things above, most of us would never even come close to playing like Max does!!!!!! His facial expressions say a lot too!!!! It doesn't even phase him, while others would be making the typical war/pain facial expressions lol. When you witness this kind of playing you KNOW without a doubt that you are either basically were born to play guitar, or that you are one who would like to play guitar, two very different things here... Max, don't listen to any negatives from anybody!!!!! You my friend are incredible at playing your instrument, keep strong, and go for it, all the way!!!!

@maidenforever999
@maidenforever999 4 жыл бұрын
While I agree with you on pretty much everything... His squire is upgraded a bit, those pups are swapped out which is the most important part of a guitar other than skill obviously. And that main difference between playing a squire and a high end fender is the playability not really the tone. I own too many guitars and I cant compare my cheaper (Indonesian) ibanez’s to my prestige model. Its night and day how it feels in your hands. Same thing for my mexican strat, great guitar but it doesn’t play nearly as good as my yngwie strat. String tension is the main indicator of a guitars craftsmanship. Most low end guitars have really high string tension for some reason and there is very little one can do about it other than putting smaller strings on and down-tuning the guitar. I shat my pants the first time I played my prestige because of how slinky the strings felt, huge bends are effortless. I giggle like a little girl every time I shred on that thing. Now for anyone who cares I highly highly suggest buying ibanez’s older korean models. Those things are so close to prestige quality for a quarter of the price! My personal favourites are the SZ models, they’re neck threw which is awesome and they are notorious for staying in tune. I own 2 SZ520’s and also 2 RGT42’s that are also neck threw and built in korea. All of em play like 3000$ guitars. And i only payed 350$ for my blue RGT, 400$ for my red SZ and 450$ for the red RGT. I didn’t even need them but I couldn’t help but collect them at those prices! Proud owner of 12 ibanez’s, 2 fenders and 1 musicman! And I hope you also stay true to the path of greatness brother, I preach what you preach everyday, there aren’t many of us left who are willing to sacrifice everything to achieve greatness. I have given everything up in life, friends, family, careers, women even my god damn sanity. You truly lose a part of your soul when you dedicate so much time and energy to one thing and if my life is the price to pay than so be it, I live by the sword and I’ll die by the sword just for a chance to challenge the gods of heavy metal and to one day be a great... Anyhow Im done rambling on my friend, I apologize for the long rant! May greatness befall you.
@leftymadrid
@leftymadrid 4 жыл бұрын
@@maidenforever999 Don't ever apologize! Sounds like you are in it way deep, so deep in fact that most guitarist (well they call themselves guitarist) would probably crap themselves to have a mindset like yours... your words anchor experience, and suffering, for all the sacrifice put in. To zero in like that, on the art of playing, especially playing that type of God level music is a journey!! I'm double sure your mentality, strength must be incredible! Max is an incredible guitarist, you can see clearly, that's 100% him when he is playing, no bullsh--t, plus, he makes it all look so damn"effortless" if I were playing some of that I couldn't help but to make "some" facial expression lol You keep strong, and listen to the inner you, follow what you love most, remember tis a journey, and all will fall into place! Wishing you the very best bro!
