Mario. Voy a atreverme a escribirte el español por qué es el idioma que puedo utilizar. Intentaré ser breve. Desde hace mucho tiempo, he intentado aprender a tocar guitarra. Por temas económicos nunca me he podido permitir tener una guitarra eléctrica pero viéndote tocar así, me he animado.. miraré de adquirir una ahora bien. Te comento esto por qué me has inspirado con esta pieza.. este género musical muy difícilmente he visto que tiene gran influencia, por lo menos en el entorno que yo me encuentro.. aun asi, tengo el ferviente deseo de aprender a tocar está pieza. Me encantaría poder que me ayudes más o menos a orientarme que pasos iniciales puedo dar para lograrlo.. tales como: técnicas que necesite desarrollar, la velocidad y el uso de la pua(que uso)pero no con tanta agilidad.. partituras, donde puedo encontrar y que herramienta puedo utilizar para ir practicando progresivamente. Cualquier información que me puedas dar, yo te lo agradecería muchísimo.. mucho y pienso que estos esfuerzos es bueno hacerlos para mantener la cultura musical neo clásica y que esté artista, joe stumb, así como yng malmstein y muchos otros, sigan creciendo... Estoy en España y hablamos el mismo idioma, espero puedas dedicarme un momento de tu tiempo y ayudarme, al menos a dar los primeros pasos.. tocar este tipo de piezas es algo que tengo siempre he querido hacer y que hasta el momento, es como un sueño que no he podido cumplir.. de que requiere tiempo y mucho esfuerzo pero me gusta tanto este género que para mí no supone ningún esfuerzo.. muchas gracias y espero de corazón tu respuesta... great playing... this may be an ignorant question, but... why is the headstock on your guitar flipped? Just curious.

Thank you, this guitar is a custom build based on Joe Stump/Malmsteen strats, Joe Stump has many reversed headstocks so I wanted to try it too, I like the way it looks. I'd say there's no big difference when it comes to playing, however a standard headstock is a safer bet, since the extra length of the low strings on the reversed headstock can cause unwanted resonances if there are no string trees or if the string trees are not correctly placed

Admittedly, I am not familiar with Joe Stump, and just found YOU here on KZbin, but I did detect the Malmsteen influence in both of your playing styles. I'm an old fart and most metal these days is very different from 80's stuff like Malmsteen, who obviously puts a lot of classical music in his playing. You look very young, and I'm about the same age as Malmsteen. Not that there's anything wrong with SOME of the more current metal. I do dig some djent, math and especially prog stuff. If there is such a thing as "popular" metal, it has become too cliché for my taste, and so many of them all trying to sound just like each other... and I especially dislike how so many metal drummers have such a generic, drum-machine like sound. I do like the tone of your strat. It seems to me that you can really shred without over-doing the distortion that often removes all the natural guitar tone and personality. Your sound is heavy, but still retains the right amount of that Fender twang and snarl in the tone that gives it a cool character, and the leads are nice and crisp and not overly fuzzy. And of course you get those nice harmonic squeals when you want them. I checked out a recent Joe Stump video, and I must say, this video has much better sound quality than his, and poor sound quality doesn't make me want to even sit through the whole video, even if the playing is really good. Sorry for rambling on... I look forward to hearing more of your stuff.

I know you said you don't give out your backing tracks but would you mind telling which program you use to make them? Awesome cover btw!

Thanks friend, I use Cubase 5 as DAW, with the VSTs EZdrummer for drums and Hypersonic for almost everything else (bass, strings, choirs, etc...). However, there are more recent and better alternatives, starting by EZdrummer 2 and Hypersonic 2, and not to mention there is Cubase 8.5 already and many other DAWs that are more powerful than the one I have, but these softwares are not cheap and I get along well enough with the tools I currently use, while they may seem outdated I already have a bunch of selfmade presets to quickly fill my backing tracking needs decently enough. I appreciate people noticing my backing tracks since they are not easy to make and I'm always trying to improve them in each new video. I don't like to share my backing tracks because of that, I have spent much time in the past years dealing with these tools to achieve a decent and custom sound (and I'm still not happy at all with it), but I've also learnt a lot of stuff about sound and music in the process that in the nowadays music world is necessary to know, so I encourage anybody who needs backing tracks to try to start making their own, maybe the first ones won't sound as good as you wish (if you check my first videos you'll notice the backing tracks were poorly balanced and the overall quality was worse than in my newer videos) but as in everything else you'll get better with time and dedication, and in the end you'll be able to make backing tracks for anything you want! Sorry for the long answer but I think you are the first person who asks me what do I use to make the backing tracks instead of asking me to share them hahaha, I'm glad you liked the cover, thanks!!!

You're welcome, I also use guitar pro as my main music notation software, in guitar pro I export the midi files which I later import into cubase to apply to the vsts

Really great playing. Aggressive picking, good timing, wide vibrato and accurate bends. I see you are a fan of Joe Stump. Many aspiring guitarists seem to turn away from players like stump presumably because they see him as an Yngwie rip off, moreover there is no shortage of neo classical shredders out there, so most people tend to just follow Yngwie, PG, Becker etc. But I been watching some of stumps videos lately and I must say his playing does sound good, especially the alternate picking. Did you take lessons from him? Also I wanted to ask about your alternate picking. It seems like its all alternate, not economy... What do you do when switching strings? 2way pick slanting? thanks

Thank you for your kind comment. No, I haven't taken lessons from Joe, but I've watched many of his performance and instructional videos that you can find on youtube, most of the technique that I use comes from him. Joe uses economy picking when playing 3 notes per string scales from thick to thin strings, and he usually does alternate picking for the opposite direction. I personally prefer to do economy in both directions, it feels more natural to me when playing at high speed, but I also use alternate for not so fast stuff if I want a more aggresive sound. In this video check out the lick at 4:00 to 4:08 , there I'm using economy in both directions, picking all the notes. Also check out on KZbin a guy called Panos Arvanitis, he plays neoclassical and he uses alternate for almost everything apart from sweeps, with nice results. So in my opinion there is no right or wrong way to do it, just find the way that feels more natural to you and makes you feel comfortable. Hope it helps.

Hey man that Joe Stump approach is similar to Yngwie. I think Yngwie also uses economy picking for ascending runs, however for descending runs he uses a combination of 2 pick strokes followed by a pull-off for 3nps patterns. this way he maintains a constant pick slant, and the pick doesnt get stuck between strings when switching strings. I've recently gone back to strict alternate picking because i want to get that aggressive tone ala PG and Jason Becker, but its really requiring practice. btw how old r u/ how long u been paying? cheers

Yeah Yngwie is not as strict with his picking hand as Joe, you can see Yngwie doing many legatos on his runs. All the ways have their pros and their cons, so I think it's all about finding what suits you better. I'm 21 and been with guitar since 16 but been in music schools since 8 or so first learning drums and then piano, but I don't really know how to play drums anymore, just a bit of piano. Cheers man
