The annual Winter Trip to The Tent. Lake ice crossing. Cold weather, campfire cooking and solitude. Another great time at The Tent.

Is it just me or anyone else feels sad when Joe goes home and the tent is left all alone in the woods? Is such a beautiful, amazing place. :)

I am just reading a few of the first comments, I will not get to really responding until tomorrow after work but I wanted to make sure I responded to yours James right away so it does not get lost in the many comments that will come. I think this is one of the "top comments" I have ever received Lol. I love it. I do not think it will be happening this year but I am hoping that 2019 I may get started. I have the drawings and my ideas of the "feeling: I want the new cabin to have. I love the old trapper cabins and I also love the old farm type houses from the late 1800's. It has to stay fairly small so you can heat it and it not take a week to warm up but it has to be bigger than what the Tent is now. I already have the antique wood fired cook stove/oven in the workshop waiting to cook its first turkey at "The Cabin" (I am sure you have seen it in videos, if not email me at joe@homeandcabinconstruction.com and I will show it to you) Please stay tuned, it will happen. Thank you for a memorable comment I will not forget. Joe

This looks like a good couple of days in the woods I would love to come out there but now I'm up in age and need to be close to a VA I had a nice place in the past where I would go and cook sap and in the last evening out in the woods we would cook up spare ribs and sour cabbage and throw in some spuds. A old lumberjack lived about a mile from us and he would eat with us and take the rest home for him and his cats. It is good to go to the woods and kick back with just oil lamps and a wood stove, it is good to think back to those times. Well good night and happy camping

Ahhh...the Tent. *sigh* Joe, As a content creator myself, I know the effort it takes to set up shots, and I want to tell you how much I appreciate ones like when you left the tent and walked well out onto the lake before returning to get the camera. That takes planning, set-up, and a lot of extra snow-shoeing! AND it makes a really pretty shot. I agree with others who think you 'relax' harder than most folks work. ;-) Thanks for sharing your paradise with us.

Have you considered x-country skiing across the lake instead of snowshoeing? So cool that you have wolves there. I only have coyotes, foxes and stray dogs. Boy, joe, I bet you use a lot of wood for all the fires in temps that low both at night and during the day. Hopefully you have a great source for fire wood in the woods surrounding you with a lot of dead falling wood. Try mounting a 5" computer fan at the top of your bedroom door. You'll be amazed how much warm air it will move. And it's cheap! $8-10 to buy and 1-2 cents a day to operate. Oh, and very quiet.
@SlipFitGarage6 жыл бұрын
BossmanEight Would that be better than the 20 inch box fan that he currently has above his bedroom door?
@treeclimbing77986 жыл бұрын
BossmanEight I use those in my RV Camper.
@BossmanEight6 жыл бұрын
Obviously it won't be as fast to move the air as a 20" box fan but will be *WAY* more quiet. Once the air flow is established it doesn't really take all that much to keep it going. Oh, and then there's the whole energy savings issue . . . . .
@SlipFitGarage6 жыл бұрын
BossmanEight I gotcha... but I don't think the amount of energy consumed by a 20 inch box fan is an "issue" especially since he's only at the tent a few nights a year, and he's on grid power. Lol.
@BossmanEight6 жыл бұрын
Noise would be my big issue. As far as energy savings . . . . . that was said with tongue in cheek. Firmly in cheek! ;-)
