WOW man - fantastic!! bread looked good for bait if i was you: the next time you make bread add some dessicated liver to the mix or grate near frozen liver and dehydrate then add to the bread mix. brilliant stuff you two :) well done all the best

That was a nice day mudbuggin day wasn't it, that bread worked great, wow I can't wait to see what you do with them all! I remember using bread balls for bate when I went fishing with my dad with a cane pole...lol.lol..and I caught the most!!!! Great vid Joe!
@JoeandZachSurvival11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eagle. I have actually tried that and it is somewhere in the crayfishing playlist. That worked real well. This year I am using venison liver from last years deer hunt and that stuff holds together wayyyyyy better than chicken livers and I have had no issue with needing to box the bait. Thanks again. Joe

I watched a few videos on some of the real giant crayfish you have over there and its amazing. You are quite restricted on how many you can keep but they are truly huge. The rustys here get pretty big as far as the US is concerned. Thank you. Joe

i never paid attention to the flavor of cat food stinky is best..except that it was "cake" not little cubes or shreded..but depending on the size of the holes in the can it could be used for days.the critters are coming for the smell even if they can't eat your bait..you fellas have great videos and i appreciate your efforts!!

I've had alot of luck using raw chicken tighs catching about 200-250 in 3-4 hrs. Made the switch over to smoked bacon and the numbers nearly doubled. Only downfall was that the bacons favor didn't last as long as the chicken but man, once the bacon got dropped in the water, the crawdads were completely ignoring the chicken! Hopefully I can put some videos up of us catching crawdads here in California soon! Btw, great video and keep it up!

Hey guys!! Stewbate here again. Really enjoying your videos. I'm going to make a video response on how I bait my traps and get maximum results. Bread really suprised me I admit. But I know cat food does not work. or sardines, or dog food. Maybe in your lake..lol Ill be in touch soon. Happy trapping, Stewy

Recall that tip I told you about using your leftovers from the boil as bait? We used to perforate a tin can with a few holes and put a pringles lid over the open end.

Joe i`ve gone bait fishing for sturgeon using Hotrods beef jerky it`s oily and has lots of flavor try that in your cage bait bin .

Awesome .. I will try some of your baits.. a friend of mine said that they use sweat potato but the rock melon wrks best.. ima try those too
@dofishbuster11 жыл бұрын
Location over bait. Of course I also hedge my bets and use 2-3 types of bait per trap. Usually cat or dog food (dry) some bread and a meat (usually fish). Thing is with the same baits and a location 20 yards away one trap will be full the other only a few. Then sometimes it is the reverse. As well ALWAYS add fresh bait as it gets washed out over time. BTW the sock will work better than panty hose as it is tougher and they cut panty hose.

Itsa great Vid you put up hopefully others catch some from your tips, give the half boiled potato a run though might not work well but red claws are vegetarian but seem to go for a lot of types of baits even cat and dog biscuits tend to work cheers and thanks

Yes slim Jim`s same thing it`s oily and gets tough in cold water stay better works good for Sturgeon .

how are they packaged in the freezer? the parts that are at risk are the fins and mouth area. Many taxidermists nowadays won't do skin mounts, but rather will use reproductions, in that case, if you have pictures that is what they would be interested in. One thing about a reproduction, they won't shrink or crack

I also had an idea for nylons. Got to a shoe store and they have them for free they are called peds, the gals use them to slip on when they try on shoes and don't have socks on. They have boxes of them at the shoe section at places like Walmart. I just grab a few each time I go. I use them for coffee strainers and to slip over mugs and bowls to keep bugs out.
@outsideal12 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe! Never done anything like this in my life but was thinking maybe if you made a type of smaller square cage out of wire that you could open and close, then put your bait in it and suspend it about 1/4 up from the bottom with some type of heavy gauge wire to suspend it top to bottom with, you might be able to keep your bait longer with out them getting any. Like this ---> (---0-)

@cornishman198712 жыл бұрын
do you cook the cray fish before freezing or after? thanks
@TEABERRYEAGLE11 жыл бұрын
Since your bait box screen seems to be too large, how about trying "flyscreen", like in your screen door...should be plenty small to keep them from picking and removing the bait...and, try chicken wings for your bait along with maybe the necks......and, fish heads should be legal...love your videos....I'm from WV and we used to catch a few to use as "bass bait", but didn't run into wholesale eating of them 'til I visited LA...keep up the good work

Try putting rye seed in your sock and let it soak in water overnight then put it in sunlight and let it sprout until it comes through the sock then use it in place of bait!

the traps I have they have little bags in the top made out of just the fabric just like the trap but like I said its on the top I'm wondering if that is a problem of not should I put it in a sock and let it free float or what. for bait I've been using salmon

Soap is good catfish bait, I don't know why but it works great
@iwantosavemoney10 жыл бұрын
what type of soap or does it matter?
@brodyjoe5010 жыл бұрын
its got to be because its made from animal fat I would guess.
@iwantosavemoney10 жыл бұрын
what type of soap do you use?
@brodyjoe5010 жыл бұрын
iwantosavemoney My apologies, I have never done this before. I was just stipulating why using soap works. Its got to be that they like it because of the animal fat. If you want soap with animal fat you can almost always find it at farmers markets. It is usually expensive at about five dollars a bar or more. For catfishing I usually just use worms for channel, they are free when I flood my yard.
