The problem with Chance and his weird tweets about "so yall want me to kill myself?" is that it's entirely disingenuous. He doesn't believe that. He is trying to garner empathy in a very, very false way. Chance, you are making music for US, right? isn't that the *point* of providing a good or a service? you are releasing a product. People don't like that product. There's not much to it. It has nothing to do with hating you. They just don't like what you put out. Keep your ear to the ground next time, fire all of your yes people that you've obviously surrounded yourself with, and put out something that resonates with people.

@D C See, the thing is, I don't think Chance is ignorant. Ignorance literally means that you "lack the knowledge or information". I think Chance knows well enough what he is doing, and I agree with you that Chance is using words that are incredibly sentive without any reverence for the underlying implication: mental health is serious. There are people who speak on mental health in an honest, genuine way to bring to attention what it may feel like to struggle with depression and other forms of psychosis, and there are the people (Like Chance) who are trying to manipulate the narrative to make himself into a victim and have people "pity listen" to his album in response. You take away the celebrity aspect of this, and Chance just reminds me of that one kid who is trying to get attention whatever way he/she can, so they post something like they want to "end their own lives" and when everyone is good and riled up, will post, "I wasn't REALLY gonna do it. Just wanted to know you guys cared ;)" to really piss off their friends and family. And for every idiot that uses mental health to attract attention, there's someone who actually NEEDED it that doesn't get it at a crucial moment in their lives.
@0hMyGandhi5 жыл бұрын
@@classicutie93 So many people label Joe as "outspoken" or a "hater" because he tends to rub a lot of people the wrong way. But people like Joe are invaluable to the creative process. You want an honest, unmired opinion on something, no sugar-coating, no strange conflation of true with fiction. But an actual, honest opinion. I am ecstatic to see Joe respond the way he did because his own struggles with mental illness are well documented. I'd say most people here, watching this video can say that they've had a plethora of mood changes, some developing into becoming overly neurotic and become strangely disconnected with the world. It's nothing to laugh at. It's nothing to tweet at. It's infuriating. I appreciate the kind words. I hope that if Chance does have issues with depression or is trying to signal for help, that he does it in a proper way in a more appropriate setting, but if he is doing what we all think he is doing....Shame on him. The ultimate lesson being: Never attempt to court attention by using a real, identifiable and diagnosable condition that affects so many people, and kills so many as a result.

Kenya Stewart i literally had the same exact feeling Rory did as did a lot of people which was this: Chance is going to make a album that sounds exactly like everything else he’s been making recently and after reading all the reviews that’s exactly what happened. He doesn’t move the needle or dare to be creative anymore all he does is put out the most Macklemore/safest possible music an artist can make there’s literally no point in listening to a hour + album of shit that’s already been made or said before. That’s why Kendrick thrives and is placed as highly as he is he always reinvents himself and dares to enter a creative zone where he could gain absolutely nothing or flop in the eye of the fans but dares to do it anyway and that’s why he’s the leader of the generation. Chance was supposed to be that guy but now he’s just into playing it safe making PG radio bullshit we’ve already heard a thousand times already

I agree that Drake's fanbase is mainly women and that means it's significantlty larger than Chance's, but its because of his sensitive content and RnB persona/vibes, not his looks. I agree with your point, but yeah...Chance is a MUCH better looking dude than Drake. I think if we cut out women, Chance could've overtaken Drake, because I think he has the white college kid love like Drake got the white college kid love. I think he has the safe accessible white mother love in the same way Drake does, and I think Acid-Rap Chance got more respect from the deep and street hip-hop community than Drake ever has. I do think the major differentiator in power here is the huuuuge female fanbase Drake has. Obviously now with his most recent album I see no way Chance can ever overtake Drake, but just going off Joe's 2016 version of the debate, I can see how he thought that.

Taon Sauls or anything that generates money while corrupting the youth (not the being positive but making them soft and giving them political direction). Oligarchic capitalism at its finest. Bc Chance is great for kids in Chicago but not the ones in African mines or China who get paid slave wages to help Apple get rich. Wake up

I remember these Bars from "Escape route" era Budden: "I'm waiting on a true revival I'ma call you a coward if you alive and suicidal (WHY?) Either be grateful for everything God said you supposed to get Or pull the trigger and get over it". I can see how his views have matured since then.

You can't protect this man and I love Chance's old albums. As an artist, Joe clearly stated this, you have to learn to take criticism for your work. I guess this was his first "bad" album and he honestly doesn't know how to handle it. As an artist myself it's disgusting how far he took it, man up nigga.

Tbh when Chance said what he thinks people want him to kill himself its kind of hard not to look at this as attention seeking. Your album gets bad reviews and all of a sudden you use the suicide route. I feel Joe's passion about this because I came to close to offing myself a couple times and this just made me shake my head.

I didn’t see one person telling Chance to kill himself or be ashamed. They just criticized him and made a meme out of him because it was a bad album. It was a terrible album to most people including myself, no one wants Chance to die. He needs to quit playing the mental health/sympathy card, that’s fucked up. He’s an artist, he chose to be an artist so he signed up to be criticized heavily if he drops a bad album. Just make a better album bruh.

This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All four albums is like a connected series. For instance in his when i grow up song, paid my dues, leave me alone, and why song, the black smile is the fake smile that he mentions in therapy session song. He hides eggs in his videos. In when i grow up song there was two hidden eggs in that song. A black balloon by the trash cans and in burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. He had outcast name tag on in the janitor part from his Outcast song. Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Here is the song order: Mansion Album: All I have (video) Intro (video) Mansion- connects to intro 3. Fear moved in. Wake Up (video) Paralyzed Notepad (video) Therapy Session Album: Intro 2 (video) Therapy Session (video) Very important song. I just wanna know (video) How could you leave us-(video) have tissues nearby. Real song- (video) he pays homage to lil wayne in this song feed me rappers or feed me beats) Grindin ft Marty (video) Oh Lord- this song gets referred to in returns two albums later. Great song Statement (he pays homage to eminem and drake in this song) Warm Up -single (hype song) (video) Epiphany- collab with futuristic. Video. Pays homage to meek mill. Green lights (video) pay attention to what he has written on the notepad at the end. Perception Album: Outro (video) pay attention to the video. It is like marvel endgame how he connects tons of previous videos in this. Intro 3 (one of his best songs) Outcast (video) Know- pays homage to eminem and 21 pilots Destiny One hundred Let you down (video) watch to the very end! If you want love (video) Remember this- 💎 Gems all over this track Single: No Name. (Video) This gets connected in leave me alone song an album later. Single: Why- (video) NF pays big homage to Big Sean as he uses his flow from bounce back in this and mentions Big Seans name and his album I decided. (This isnt nates flow he says) Also he has a ton of eggs like Dont mess with real music written on walls. Pay attention to all the writing. Additionally, Big Sean paid homage back in harder than my demons song he had the black balloons in it among other things Search Album: Whole album should be listened to but you can choose which you would like to do: The search (video) When I grow up (video) Leave me alone (video) Change My stress Nate Time (video) Returns- (hype song) one of his best for flow switches and word play Only Let me go Interlude then I hate myself song I miss the days No excuses (hype song) Like this Options (hype song) Thinking Trauma singing only song. Amazing Paid My Dues (video) It was to the awful article rolling stones put out because the writer was a big chance the rapper fan and was pissed NF took number one spot. Over 400 people bashed that writer in the comments lol Chasing -demo he did with a fan. Clouds the Mixtape- Clouds (video) Lost ft Hopsin (video) Story (video) That’s a Joke (pays homage to J Cole) Just like you Prideful Layers Drifting Trust ft Tech N9ne Also there is many good songs not on this list like Dreams, you’re special ect if you like him then take the time and go back through and listen through them all at some point. His lost in the moment song was just used for the promo for the new show called the equalizer starring Queen Latifah.
