@@JoeCartwright you take the time, do it properly and show how exquisite detail ie all the colours in the sea, make ALL the difference. I am known by many as hating birds in watercolour (and zebra crossings, and red headlights reflected in wet) as a cliche - yours are great! Once again, you take the time carefully, especially the gulls.

You do such a wonderful job of doing just enough -- but no more -- to entice the viewer's mind to do most of the "work." That's what makes a painting _engaging._ That's what makes a painting seem refreshing upon every viewing. It encourages the viewer to go on a mental hike out in the world. Viewing becomes recreation ... as in _re-creation,_ where the viewer is the creator.

When you dry the paper, do you need to re wet the back and/or the board?

If you dry the paper so much that it cockles then, yes Pauline. However, often you only need to dry the very top surface of your paper so you may not need to re-wet the back as it will still be wet.
