Tindall dishes it to Wales regularly, and even as a Welshman I sympathise with his points. Wales have a history of playing scintillating, edge of the seat rugby. It is our traditional style of play. And even though we had the physicality to match the Boks, and the world class flair behind the pack, our brand was a dirge of a dog's dinner - that semi-final being akin to an U13s Aussie Rules game in terms of spectator appeal. Gatland has inverted the Welsh way and I'm pleased to see him go. To qualify what I say, I feel confident to claim that George Ford would get nowhere near the Welsh team though a lack of physical stature; whereas Dan Biggar - with all his attributes - would struggle to make Jones' England squad because he stands deep and offers no running game - therefore immediately nullifying his channel as a threat, and putting extra international pressure on his outside backs. #10s MUST be a threat with ball in hand; and as good as Biggar, Stephen Jones, Neil Jenkins, etc, are in many many aspects; they are ill equipped for the modern game. New Zealand set the tone with Grant Fox decades ago but they soon evolved to 10s that had speed and guile and flair and took your breath away (as well as all the other necessary facets)... IS Hooky still around?? ;o)
@isitwasit87564 жыл бұрын
Gats has benefited Wales no doubt but? If gats suddenly announced he was staying on another 4yrs I'd be very disappointed.. it's time to part and I cannot sit through another game watching the Welsh backs non existent and just smash smash smash with the forwards .. that was England's blueprint for decades.. I'm sick of that brand of rugby for wales..
@isitwasit87564 жыл бұрын
@wildebest Gatland become to bloody minded .. boks came with a smash it up style with the forwards and gats just mirrored that style concentrating all Wales efforts on taking away the boks game and beating them with their own style.. when Wales was camped under the boks posts using only the forwards while ignoring the obvious 3 man overlap to the left there was a reason for that .. gats would have been more pleased if the Welsh forwards did manage to bludgeon their way over through the boks defense to score that try because to him it would have been a big psychological point proven to the boks .. eventually the penalty came Wales won the scrum the ball went left through the hands and Wales run over try line easy .. that should have happened 3 to 4 mins earlier instead of just use Welsh forwards to smash into bokk forwards.. gats has done this a few times .. once in paticulour was at home against eng in 6nations .. the talk from eng pre match was how big Joe Worsley was going to nullify Jamie Roberts threat by being to physical for Roberts when Wales would attack the 10 channel.. Wales went on to win that game but all game long Roberts targeted Worsley running at him all afternoon with huge collision after huge collision proving eng right that that was what Wales would do .. post match it was mentioned to gats who said ? That's what eng thought we would do so that's what I decided to give them ..to much of a point to prove which could have easily resulted in Roberts picking up a bad injury because of bloody mindedness by gatland... gats got Wales results and Wales will be forever grateful for that... but I think Wales is ready for change..

I think Hask realises how privileged he is to be invited into the England camp as a non player, but I don't think he appreciates, how close to the top of the playing tree he has been in his own career. I agree England performed brilliantly and will have to perform to that standard in every match now, because they've raised the bar higher than any other team. Anyone who criticises the All Blacks performance, as their coach said, needs a lesson in modern international rugby.

As much as it looks like NZ pays no attention to rugby outside Europe, I'm sure many English fans are unaware of the fact that SA has won and drawn to the All Blacks in NZ in the last two years. That's probably why so many are so overconfident
@mlguy83764 жыл бұрын
Not me. But NZ also lost to Wallabies. NZ were experimenting during the championship. This does not take the fact away that SA was favs with ABs before the cup started.
@harleywoolford52474 жыл бұрын
@@mlguy8376 Well NZ lost to Aus partly because of a red card. NZ were still in the game before the card was given, and we know how they can comeback. Last year when SA beat NZ in Wellington it wasn't an experimental team. It was generally a full strength NZ team that SA drew with this year in the championship, even tho I do concede it was the first time they went with Mo'unga and Barrett combo

@mlguy83764 жыл бұрын
@@harleywoolford5247 indeed full strength with what they went out with to the WC and I guess this is more of an indication of AB rugby than England or SA. Personally I think it will be a great game of rugby if you are in it as we both are (from the armchair) but it will be interesting to see what SA has held back since that game in the pool stage - I think they will have something special that they were holding back for the final (which I assume they were going to make based on the likely path) . Good luck!
@harleywoolford52474 жыл бұрын
@@adamgibbons210 true. If England had a once in a generation performance it's unlikely they will play as well again. I'm expecting an England team that is better than they were against Aus (where 2 intercepts and a ruled out try made Aus look worse than they really were), but not as good as against NZ. SA is a very different team to NZ. Easier to outskill SA but currently harder to physically dominate, which is part of the reason England did so well last week
