I think billy did have a special talent -- a man who can sing with a female voice.
@artofvoice10 жыл бұрын
Yet a few years later a goth looking guy goes on and sings opera in his countertenor voice and they go insane and LOVE it. I feel bad for the guy. I'm surprised at Sharon telling him to "sing like a man". Thought she was more open-minded than that. It's like they tell the audience to be on their worst behavior too.
@melaniehamilton655010 жыл бұрын
I think the "sing like a man" comment shows Sharon's ignorance regarding operatic voices and music in general. Most people have no idea that there's any such thing as a countertenor. My problem with guy is that he sharped and flatted all the way through his performance. UGH!
@artofvoice10 жыл бұрын
Indeed..critique the technique! I look at him the way I would any other singer that goes on these talent shows. It's not about his range, it's about his quality. And a lot of times, people are really impressed by range or by volume(as we saw with that one teenage girl's viral video that's going around) as opposed to technique and skill. I'm really sensitive to pitch as well so I know exactly what you're talking about. But yea...super ignorant of Sharon :/
@geminikb5 жыл бұрын
Melanie Hamilton yes he was pretty out of tune. That was the problem. If he had really done a great job they would have been very impressed.
@melaniehamilton655010 жыл бұрын
The opera singer is formally considered a countertenor which is a legitimate voice in the world of opera. The problem with this guy is that he kept drifting off key, not to mention that he hit sharps and flats throughout the piece. Extremely painful listening if you have a really good ear and/or perfect pitch. The creators of the "Polka Today" looked like spastic disco dancers to me. I'm only glad they "accordionized" a song that makes me want to bazooka barf in the first place. Did they wear the bright yellow costumes as a nod to "Walking On Sunshine"? Kind of icky.

Not understanding the hate for the opera dude, who was actually fairly decent. Other male opera singers have performed falsetto and been praised for their performance.
@SyMoane756 жыл бұрын
His problem is he went on America's Got Talent and not in front of someone in Opera. That's what he needs to do.

His voice hurt my ears. I love opera and this guy definitely is not opera material. Men have been on AGT using falsetto and did well but this guy is painful to listen to. My ears still hurt.

He was too ahead of his time. Today it would have been different because it would be insulting and discriminatory to tell him to sing like a man, or ask him wether the piece was written for a man

If that's "polka today", how much do you want to bet that "polka tomorrow" would be the exact same song and dance routine? 4. Mr. Phil, please don't jump up and down. We know what your last name is, but we don't need to see it should your pants happen to fall off after all that jumping. 5. you don't belong on a stage. You belong in a mental institution, and take that rag doll with you in case you get lonely. 6. ... No comment. 7. Are you drunk? The jury are ignorant, how does they dare to say to a profesional opera singer to "sing like a man"? Their ignorance doesn´t allow them to know that there is something called countertenor, that is a man with the hability to sing like a woman; a person that probably has more talent that those three together. I used to think that Sharon had full knowledge in music area, I´m really dissapointed......
