@@benjaminburnsburns8927 you can't go wrong with either of them. The 308 is a good all rounder but the 7mmag will give you more capability at longer distances

@@benjaminburnsburns8927 I'd stay with the normal binos if you've already got them. Just get a good rangefinder to run with them, either the RX1400 or the RX1600 from Leupold have the TBR function which works really well

Stag behaviour is so interesting. On our team's road hunt in south westland, we found that the stags would come in to investigate twig snapping, roar and the could be brought right in to 50-60m. It was the twig snapping that got them to investigate. Then after some decent rain they went completely off the boil. Only roaring defensively after moving off to cover.. once suspicious they buggered out of sight and then called to protect territory. And that was it, roar over! Such interesting behaviour. We might have got the end of the aggressive part of the roar. There was still a bit going on, but not quite what it had been, with stags roaring constantly until ~1030pm. Nice video team. Look forward to some footage of Katherine's first bowhunt stag?

Yeah they can vary a lot each different day weve found also. I think we timed it just right for that particular valley. Last year for us it was the opposite, we were just behind the action most places we went. Its so good listening to them roar at night while laying in your bed, I love that. Its good you got out for a hunt, I hope it went well. Part 3 sure is Katherines episode, its a big moment for her!

Only 10 points, but so heavy I couldn't roll him over without doing it in small steps. Couldn't drag him to butcher out from under the fern. What an experience. Unreal. Keep up the good work

when I lived in the South Island we put several drops of aniseed oil on our caps when roaring up a stag as this smell over powered the human scent and confused the stag

I love this type hunting for coyotes. Gave up deer etc rifle hunting years ago as it's not a challenge much. I use. .22 mag with a suppressor. Seems to not bother the other living coyotes after a shot so much. Many times I can get two. Guerilla style is awesome.
