In the show, the song was used when a man traded his humanity to end all pain and suffering at the cost of all beauty and discovery. Ultimately, he concluded that a world without struggles is a world without ambition. And a world without ambition is a world without dreams.

@@nikita8370 He wanted to cure people who were essentially in his universe long term heroin/meth users and basically anybody at the bottom of society but in exchange he took away their individuality and choice in the matter. Events happen and their forced utopia crumbles pretty hard. This is where he trades his humanity and his belief in his glorius evolution surpassing nature and emotions takes over fully. That's why he's crossing the line here, he's not just trading his humanity but the humanity of every man, woman, and child that he so desperately wanted to help. The woman with him doesn't agree with this, she represents imo the last of his humanity, it's also why you see the memories of the werewolf creature burning because he killed the last of the man who it used to be before it got experimented on.

It sounds really poetic when you say it like that. I love Arcane, but I just can't think of it other way than "A seemingly highly intelligent man ascends above his humanity only to find out that "forceful mass assimilation" is not the answer, like... duh, did we really need to go for such a long time loop here :D?I like to think The Void tried to corrupt him, through Hextech, ultimately he prevailed, but too late, what would warrant the long loop. Sadly I've yet to find anything in the show itself to attach the LoL Void lore to it reliably.

@shipso6116 I love this summary. I've been saying a city built to stay away from magic tells a scientist magic bad and nothing else but expect him to stop him research. You can see a person in Heimerdinger's flashback. The whole Viktor situation could have been avoided if someone just took the time to explain things to Jayce. In the show it's not so much about losing another but more about losing ones self and in the process the final fears of dissapointing those who loved you. Viktor (the main character in this video) very much gave up who he was to chase perfection but gaining perfection meant losing humanity and all ties he once had.
@shipso6116Ай бұрын
Well, you know, it's both. He wrote it for the show, but the moment this song plays is the moment of leaving, and not just one, but many. Every OST of Arcane is made based on the storyboard, so they all not only make perfect sense storywise, but greatly enhance the experience.

Tyler did an interview right before this video was released - not sure if you saw that or not; the song is about his grandmother and also works within the show we may also see this ties into the storyline and be a precursor to what's coming next about Clancy possibly crossing over to become a bishop

The most thought provoking band I’ve ever heard! This band has created a family tradition. We sit at the dinner table and listen to a song and we all discuss how it made us feel or what we thought maybe he was feeling when he wrote it. We also will find a KZbinr who reviews the song we are listening to it and get that person take as well. It has really gotten my kids talking more. It’s beautiful

This song is so beautiful and heartbreaking in so many ways. The song has such meaning for the Arcane storyline and all those beloved characters. It has meaning for Tyler personally with his grandmother's death... and it feels like the soul/angel by him/the piano symbolizes her :( BUT also in regards to the Clancy storyline..... Paladin Straight transitions perfectly into the start of The Line. It would make sense that this is also Clancy contemplating going to "the dark side"/becoming a bishop to break the cycle from within but "will they still let me over, if I cross the line" meaning will the Banditos/Torchbearer feel he betrayed them, etc. I've also thought about.....what if him floating at the end but then coming back down symbolizes what happens to Clancy..... maybe he does face death's door but survives in the end. One can only hope ;) SOO DEEP on so many levels. I feel so lucky to be alive at the same time as Tyler & Josh. Truly special artists and human beings.

This song and video are both beautiful. I know this was written for Arcane, but I am amazed that when the producer asked him to write it, he had it done in just 3 days. It makes me wonder if he had already started writing this to honor his grandmother or possibly use this song to fit the continuation of the lore and coincidentally it fit the scene for Arcane. I also noticed that the synth at the very end of the Paladin Strait video sounds a lot like the beginning of The Line. I know it may be wishful thinking as a clickie, but it’s definitely something to think about.

@@tarar1998 They don't stay children for long, just the first three episodes. I think that's what could put some people off at the start, but it gives you the context for the later episodes. for those who may not fully see....LISTEN to the very end of "The Line" it flows right into Overcompensate. Tyler wrote this song after Navigating and it follows Clancy debating on "Crossing Over the line" to becoming a Bishop.
