But it was not generally something I loved or cared much about. I was raised with a professional classically tra8ned violinist as a father. Who graduated juliard in New york. I have heard Mozart and Bach so many times that only certain music that makes my inner ear feel a certain way is even bearable for me. Great over exaggerated example of this is the south park episode called that sounds like shit. Where Stan only hears someone literally shitting when he hears music or watches movies. I listened to ren for the first time 7 years ago. His busking. I was a fan and appreciated a street performer with his gifts. I followed him off and on over the years when he'd pop up in my feed. The day hi ren dropped I hadn't heard from him in 2 years. Listened to it and didn't like it. I respected it but didn't like it. Because I listened to it as if it was a song. Had my phone on shuffle with songs from my KZbin. On a 5 hour motorcycle ride. For two hours my phone looped hi ren and I had to make time to my next check point so I just thought "damit I'll just try to vibe out to the guitar and make my own song with it. Well that worked the first 3 loops. Then I just started listening. It's been 9 months. I watch reactions to his songs 5 times a day. Not a day without it. I have already listened to everything he has ever made. Idk what happened but now I'm listening to every song that pops up on my Spotify while working. I no longer see music the way I was raised. I see it and feel it differently.

My understanding is that the official Murderer video was completed long before the Dotta diss. I think he had a lot of content completed in preparation for his treatment in Canada.

Tidbits from barrington levy's "murderer", damian marleys "welcome to jamrock" and dr.dre's "the next episode" and ini kamozes "world a music (out in the streets they call it merther)" that is a sample on welcome to jamrock in there. Filmed in Los Angeles 3 days ago. Fun fact: "Merther" is basically the term for listening to reggae while smoking weed. The "merging" of it. Just loved it very much. Oh and also: There is a version of "murderer" from barrington levy featuring none other than rakim himself. Very dope track.

I heard Murderer was recorded before Hi Ren. Don’t know the veracity. But he did release that statement along with the release to Su! Cide stating the hypocrisy of having to use an exclamation point to tweak the title, when we should be having discussions on the topic. And the cherry on top was on could sing about murder without tweaking the word. Then he drops Murderer and now he drops Murderer acoustic. Point made sir. ❤

I will step right up and holler at you for bringing up one of the most golden points in my life. I used to watch 'Name the Tune' with my grandmother. 'Nanny introduced me to that and a lot of other great game shows, sitcoms and kinds of stuff. But the most important thing is she taught me & explained to me the good and the bad of it all. great reaction. Idk personally, but in the chat they said the other guitar player is James Marino. Murderer didn't have anything to do with Dotta. He had already recorded and done the videos for the Sick Boi album singles before leaving the UK to go to Canada. He may have adjusted his intended schedule for dropping the videos when he suddenly found himself getting hella traction, but he had preplanned to have all this content, including the videos available to drop while he was being treated. The exceptions to that were the video for For Joe that hadn't even been written yet, Money Game 3 that he just filmed when he went back to the UK a month or so ago, the Dotta diss that had just become a thing, and this acoustic for Murderer that was just shot during this past week when he visited L.A. Everything else he's dropped this year he's been sitting on since last year. Positivity and lifting yourself and the people you come into contact with is Ren's message; clearly from Love Music it's been his message for a long time.

I like going down those rabbit holes and I just don’t how to source this in general outside of looking up lyrics - they usually have the song writer credits. Hopefully you can guide me.

In regards to the beef with Dotta, I don't know all of the timeline, but I don't think Ren was necessarily expecting it. However, I do know that Ren made the music video version of Murderer prior to leaving to go for treatment in Canada, so he already had it in his bag, awaiting release. More than likely, when the beef came up, he decided that this was the perfect time to pull it out. Money Game 3 is the one that he flew back to the UK to shoot recently. Love your reactions!
