The Blue Goblet Tavern is likely what is most mentioned as a fantastic spot, but I don't know if I'd call it "starter", as it's pretty much directly west and slightly north of the Revelwood Tower (although it's not really any further out than Wistful Fields, and doesn't need a fight like Thornwood). There is a ready supply of both clay and copper, it has a well, and it starts with a comfort level of 25. It's a great first spot to actually invest in for a full-on base, if you have it in mind to start with and just have small temporary bases on the way to it.

I'll see if I can find it, seems slightly later than I'd like as that is an additional level of flame. I'm going to try finding it now to see if it's worth the wait as apposed to fighting for thornwood

I just went to the blue goblet tavern, and its prob the coolest tavern ive seen so far!, awesome place to take over for sure! It has a well outside too, might have to use the rake a little to make some gardening areas but nothing bad at all. Comfort lv 14 just walking in.

I built my main base there and I have yet to find any other prebuilt location or building that I like as much. I made the mistake of going through with an axe to demo broken furniture as opposed to walking up to each and clicking Dismantle once the flame is down. My axe swinging took out some wooden railings and other features that I can't duplicate. Plus there is an existing well to one side of the place.

I did Baelyn bridge. Close access to well. Huge space once you repair whole bridge. Multiple access to shroud to farm mats.

Just out the south side of Thornhold(spot 3) is a prebuilt mine that has some clay in it, as of the most recent patch, it also has Amber.

you’re so far the only guy to mention Morwena in a video. That’s where I built. The main house has a giant basement for storage, enough buildings to put NPCs in like a town, and flat ground for farming. It’s coming along splendidly.

I did spend quite a while looking around the flame level one areas to see where was good and was one of the better spots I found so glad to hear it's coming on nicely

truss bricks requiere the carpenter unlocked, his kiln can burn clay bricks. and his questline will unlock truss bricks in an lv13 area. no idea how n when you get the big stones for the truss styl house foundations.

rough cut stone block and half timbered block. Took me forever to figure out what kind of stone was used. You can find how to get them on KZbin. Also, only real way to clear the rubble on the floor is to delete the floor and rebuild it. I’m rebuilding Morwena… you need bricks for the tile roof. For which the carpenter provides a Kiln.

One amazing place for building a base mid to late game is on top of the cliffs at the Pillars of Creation. I put mine on the side with the Vukah camp, but the other side from the natural bridge also works (although you will have to deal with the road running through the middle of the prime build area). Its advantages are that there are a few copper deposits on top of the cliffs (one is right outside my base border) and there is a small enshrouded ravine at the bottom of the cliffs with a decent-sized tin deposit, making the spot perfect for farming copper, tin & ultimately bronze. Also has amazing scenery & perfect for building like say a Native American Pueblo, Spanish Mission, frontier fort or other wild-west type builds... My base is a Mexican-style hacienda where I am basically the main copper/bronze supplier on the server, but I also farm flax, indigo and Yucca palms there (for fruit & wood). I also have enough space to enclose the area between the walls of the hacienda & the cliff for both dedicated farm fields as well as for when they add animal husbandry to the game, I can have a nice livestock enclosure as well.
