And it would boost productivity, as there's less time spent on drying your hands! Simultaneously, the Jet Dryer functions as a competency test for new employees, and filters out the less nimble ones! It even comes with the smell of roast beef! :D

I remember back in my freshman year of high scchool, in the locker room restrooms they had a hand dryer, we would block the intake on the bottom of it with a book, wich got the heating element really hot on the inside, then we would quickly move the book away and then spray axe in the intake and a huge jet of fire would come out of the exhaust for a few seconds, haha good times

Let me get this straight, after you proved that it was not only effective, but was also a plausible illusion of safe to dry your hands with a jet engine, you were too cowardly to try it in the name of edutainment? Joel, apparently you don't have any cool friends, because cool friends would have taught you by now, all the lessons I've learned in my entire life that I can condense into a single sentence: *"Bad decisions make great stories".* Or in your case, videos. What's the worse that could happen? That a turbulent air stream would suddenly catch on your cuticles, ripe your fingernails off and send them tumbling down the asphalt like pringles escaped from their tubular prison? It's a risk your audience is willing for you to take! What am I even contributing on Patreon for if you don't want to be successful? Also, when drilling anything hard, like stainless, the secret is high pressure, low speed. Consider the edge speed of a hole saw, compared to the edge speed on a 1/8" drill bit. You should be turning so slowly you could follow a dot around the saw edge and not lose track of it. Also, to have a fighting chance of cutting on an uneven surface, clamp a piece of plywood to it first, and then cut through the plywood and leave it there, it'll give you a shoulder keep the blade steady on. An old trick AvE taught me about sawing into uneven surfaces.

0:52 Intrusive thoughts can't win. They're intrusive. Like envisioning yourself doing horrible things to a loved one, or hurting yourself, or something. "I want to make a jet engine hand dryer" isn't an intrusive thought. It's just an impulsive thought. I'm just saying this because I've seen this phrase starting to circulate a lot and it is going to be harmful for people with ocd because it makes it seem like an intrusive thought is more of a mundane thing, and that one can win. So when people with ocd talk about their actual intrusive thoughts which can be really horrible and distressing, instead of being taken as _intrusive_ , there's this feeling that this person is _dangerous_ because they have this kind of thought and because there's a possibility of it "winning"

Same reason you never spin up bearings with air. Ever see one grenade? You don't want to because it means someone was seriously injured or dead. A guy lost a nut doing this. Jet exhaust has a lot of water vapor from the combustion. That doesn't lead to good drying. Most of the drying effect is from pushing the water off vs. evaporation.

I mean considering that gas turbines are a pretty popular way of generating electricity (especially with moves towards more efficient use of fossil fuels and dual cycle power plants), many hand dryers basically _are_ running on a jet engine of sorts... just with a bunch of energy conversions and transportation along wires in between the two. Kinda a fun thought.

Nothing is worse than one of those 25 year old hand dryers being the only way to dry your hands because none of the gas stations stock paper towels anymore (except for the big chains, QuikTrip, Bucees etc.) You stand there for over a minute trying to get the water off your hands, and they’re so weak it feels like your Vietnam vet grandpa is blowing onto your hands. You leave the bathroom disgusted and defeated, and nonchalantly wipe your hands off on the back of your jeans.
