And if the only cards the magician has is +4s you can challenge him when he plays the +4 - therefore he has to draw the cards himself. You cant play a +4 when you dont have a card of the colour you wish - and the last card you play cant be a +4 or wish. But rules change from Region and house. The og rules dont even allow you to react to a +2 with your +2 and most certainly not with a +4.

Explanation: He just kept the same cards on top through the shuffle and kept pinky breaks to maintain the top cards, for the riffle shuffle you simple make sure when the shuffle ends your wanted cards are on top. He probably had some kind of card in his pocket or on his lap which he grabbed while the guy switched the cards around as misdirection, hiding it in the palm of his hand, YW
