During the last concert of their North American tour, Su-metal took out her phone and took a photo of the three ladies with the audience's phone lights in the background.😁

When I first heard Monochrome, I thought it was a good song. After several listens it grew on me but when i actually watched the Live version I was mesmerized. Then came the part where Su-metal told the crowd to get their phones out, light them up (just like the old days with cigarette lighters), called out Moa and Momo (1st time we hear Su calling Momo), hugging the two and then humming... i found myself (56 year old metal head) with tears rolling down my cheeks. I was able to witness their power when they performed in Toronto and I felt like a young teenager again. I left the concert feeling it was all a dream. I don't know how BABYMETAL does it but their capability to connect with me emotionally just stuns me. 🤘🦊🤘

Great one! Glad you like Monochrome more now. This tends to happen with other Babymetal songs for me as well. There have been a few that I wasn't a big fan of but later became fond of over time. While I always loved Monochrome from the get-go, the Clear Night performance is definitely notable as it invoked a sense of unity and strengthened the message of hope for a better tomorrow throughout the original song. Also, in other videos of this performance, you can definitely tell Su almost teared up herself as well on stage. This, combined with the moment of solidarity with Su, Moa, and Momo was just heartwarming. Furthermore, Kami Band (West in this case) definitely outshines the music from any studio version for sure. Makes you want to.... "Just Smile" (last line of the song)! 🤘🦊

I agree with you 100% about feeling the music. You asked when she tells people to pull out their phones if my mind races. For me I almost have to hold back tears because when she does things like this (and she has done this sort of thing a few other times) it shows how much love the fans have for the girls and how much love the girls have for the fans. And I think back to when they were just children starting out and how they've grown and I begin to feel this enormous sense of pride for them. I think I can speak for a lot of us, we all are so proud of these girls and what they've become now that they've transitioned into young ladies and how well they've done for themselves and also for how amazingly humble and genuine they've remained even through all the fame. To watch them go through this journey they've started is a site to behold in my opinion. Through it all they haven't had to "sell sexuality" or make songs about drugs, violence, or any of the other crap a lot of "artists" sing about these days. They kept to their roots in a lot of ways and they sing songs that portray a positive message. These ladies are ladies I think would make amazing role models for many people and I can only hope they ARE role models for many young people.

I just watched them 3 nights in a row, 2 at the barrier feet from Moa (first night) and Momoko (second night) I 100% confirm ALL concert they worked every corner of the venues to connect and interact with fans. I personally got 2 hearts off Momoko and Moa smiled at me first night and we made faces at each other on the second (being next to two massive pink SG towels might have helped attract their attention).

Between Band Maid and Babymetal, over the last year, the countless times of tearing up and emotional feels they've given me. When I first heard BM back 2012, I thought, music is cool and the girls are adorable, but this won't last. Then. when I first heard the Maids about a year ago, I was, yea they got a good sound and talented musicians. Little did I know that in 2023 there was gonna be a Japanese invasion on my heart and my ears. I've seen them both live in the last few months, bought the merch, and all the CD's. Only regret is that they weren't in my life during the long days of the pandemic. As a father to a wonderful and talented young woman, I hope the parents to all these wonderful ladies are so proud of them. I know I would be.... and I'd be at ALL their shows. 🤘

Great reaction Joel - maybe the lyric video didn't grab you because without the girls it felt impersonal and, understandably, you need to see and hear them performing and singing live to get the connection you were needing. I do always say that if one of their songs doesn't grab you when you first hear it, waiting to see and hear a live performance may just change your mind - and even if it still isn't a favourite the chances are you will appreciate it better. I'm glad the First Take piano version swung you on this song - and now you got to see the live and Su asking for help in lighting up "this dark, dark world". I'm with you, we might have held up our lighters back in the day - phone lights are less likely to burn your fingers at least, but it is the same sort of thing and yes these moments with Su humming the melody are always emotional and your mind does take you back to some special moment in your life.

We talked about lighters at the show last night - with many ladies in costumes that I suspect are highly flammable judging by discussions with them on how they made them I think lighters these days would be VERY bad!

Great reaction! This is still my favourite track of the album. I remember sitting with almost 100 people in our discord sever in January when they played the first Babymetal return show and when Su started humming I had tears in my eyes because she was able to move me so much on a emotional level. (We were lucky enough to have a fellow kitsune streaming the audio of the show). I always cared deeply about Babymetal, but that performance touched me just in another level. Later in the year I was able to experience the song live three times and every time when Su called for us to take our phones out I was moved to tears. ❤🤘🦊🔥

I think the best performance of this song was the first time it was performed at "Babymetal Begins" a few weeks earlier. In that performance, Su gets into a groove. You can tell she's internalizing the lyrics and feeling the music. I don't think I've ever seen her just move to music that way before. It's choreographed, of course, but the choreography instructions are something like, "just groove to it". :) You see some of that in subsequent performances but something about that night.... Su was really feeling it. "Makes me care about these young ladies"..... That's the Babymetal juju friend. :)

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This video is a fan made compilation from two shows in January and April : before and after the new BABYMETAL with Momometal. I witnessed both shows at the venues with full joy for their return (January) and rebirth (April). This song was played in the BABYMETAL's North American tour with DETHKLOK that was completed on Oct.12. The ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part was chanted by American / Canadian audience at every venue in the sea of phone lights (except their festival appearance under sunlight). That was breathtaking. The band captured in this video are Western Kamis. I appreciate their devoted support that has made this and recent shows amazing😍. Thank you Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint. (And Ryan in the tour and several shows in Japan). You guys are unsung heroes whom everybody loves.

When I first saw the video I wasn't really into Monochrome, seeing The First Take blew my mind and then on their current tour I started to see how they were using this song.. then for the last 3 nights I have seen it live in person, right at the barrier just feet from the girls. This song is now embedded with the fans along with Megitsune, BMD, RoR and Headbanger as a fan fave. Every night Su brought the fans together and we sung along with her. I saw their faces up close, Su, Moa and Momoko. I saw the smiles, the grins, them pointing out stuff to each other. These ladies live to perform on stage - BM is not about listening to their music - it is about sharing it with them. Last night I saw 3 ladies who love their job and were happy and having fun and interacting with us. Moa made faces with me, Momoko made not one, but two hearts to me (as I did back to her). They really do try and reach every fan each night and see and acknowledged as many as they can.

I love that relatively-quiet moment the girls had looking out in that sea of lights. I wouldn’t say that moment brought up anything in my own life, but it did make me reflect on their career and everything Babymetal has gone through as an entity through the years. I hope Su, Moa, Momo, and Yui and everyone else is as happy in their personal lives as they’ve made me since I discovered them.

Great reaction! I'm glad you came around to liking Monochrome. It really is a beautiful song although it's never been about nuclear war to me. For me, the song is clearly about any dark times a person goes through. Times that can seem like the end of the world for you. 'Imagine the sky in rainbow colors.' 'Paint the sky in rainbow colors.' 'No matter how long the night, morning always comes'. All words of encouragement to get you through your difficulties. I see you have succumb to the Babymetal charm. I think its pretty near impossible not to care about them at some level. 🙂

I think the connection with the Hiroshima bombing had a lot to do with the official lyric video. It would be great to have someone interview MK-METAL (Miki Watanabe) who wrote the lyrics for 'Monochrome', and a lot of other BABYMETAL songs.

@jeffschreifels8651 Жыл бұрын
@@rickwagner- It's because of the lyric video for sure. I know Su is from Hiroshima as well and that also makes everone thinks its about nukes. I was skeptical from the beginning though because nuclear war seems to be an awfully dark hard hitting subject for Babymetal who usually are more about encouragement and perseverance. And because there are those elements of 'You can do it!' in the lyrics, it doesn't fit a nuclear holocaust narrative. Besides, wasn't Su a little surprised that people thought it was a sad song? Or am having another one of my false memories? :) I'd really like to hear what the song writers have to say as well. I wonder if they would reveal their intentions or if they would still want to keep it a secret anyway?

If they didn't incorporate the crucifixion stuff into their 'act', I would still be supporting them. It sucks too, because I was such a huge fan until the second big show they did last year and saw that cringe stuff. I didn't hold it against them when they were younger, but they are adults now. I'm sure they could veto that part, but whatever makes them money I guess.
