I am 81. My jazz history comes from my dad, back to the 30's /40's Red Nichols 5, B. Goodman, G. Miller, A. Shaw then D. Brubeck Jimmy Smith, Oscar Peterson oh Oscar how great thou art. But now I have discovered Diana Krall. and I can't find much room in my listening hours for any other than Diana and her musical partners. Makes me warm to be a Canadian.

Completo 70 hoje. Acordei com ela, a divina Diana. Meu presente de aniversário, ouvir o Full Concert com ela ao piano e sua voz magnífica. Diana é simplesmente sensacional. Terrivelmente Nice.

Amazing the number of possible musical paths that oft lead to the same place. I'm 73. Grew up listening to Bird, Coltrane, and a slew of guitarists, including the Brazilian wonders (Bonfa, Jobim, Almeida), also modern composers (Gershwin, Ravel, Copeland, etc). But all I need to do is click on Krall's take on "The Look of Love" (Eagle Rock Entertainment version), and I am so totally 'there'... Stunning.

She once said that she was blown away and felt humbled at the musical wizardry and technique of the legendary Oscar Peterson . But she needs not to make any apologies for the manner in which pulls the music out of that piano. Her style, all her own. And beyond competent if we need to split hairs.

You know, it is a good voice with emotion, clarity, and lyrics delivered with passion and soul, but let's get real, this is one sexy woman based on that vocal affection or inflection. Her voice just drips with sex and a "come hither" quality. Yeah, it is a "good voice"....she has good timing and feel, ..... but you miss the friggin boat with that superficial assessment.

This concert is an example of why I love live jazz so much. While pop and rock have their place, they are such commoditised formats, limited by some attempt to reflect life choices of their followers, regrettable tattoos, body art, pierced flesh, ghetto this, gangster that. How depressing. The way I see it, nobody owns jazz, it has it's roots in various camps for sure, but it doesn't 'preach' to me in any way. Sometimes I feel uplifted by some Django Reinhardt, another day I'll reach for a Miles Davis recording. We are certainly blessed to have modern jazz artists such as Diana Krall and her superb band in our lives, and I give my thanks to the person who uploaded it, and also to the powers that be for allowing it to remain online and available to us all. Thank you, from an appreciative follower.

Samara Joy, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Breanna Thomas, Joy Brown, Jazzmeia Horn are the best jazz singers in the world today! Honestly speaking! I had a conversation with Miss. Diana Kraull once about music. She is a good musician and a lovely singer, but she would tell you herself, hands down, she is not the best singer or piano player in the world. With good reason she admires Oscar Peterson, but if you listen to Cyrus Chestnut, Kenny Barron or Johnny O'Neal, and Benny Green, they are arguably more like oscar Peterson's style than anyone on earth. However, she knows how to pick the best musicians in the world, they make sound at her best.
