There is no comma separating the phrase "One Nation Under God" and in fact, too many have been taught to take a breath/pause rather than stating is as "One Nation Under God".

I'm glad you like. It's thrilling to hear the national anthem in a church. I completely understand and agree with the separation of church and state, but I feel there is nothing wrong with a church performing the national hymn in thanksgiving and appreciation of a state that upholds religious freedom.

You most certainly can sing the National Anthem in a Catholic Church. It is completely up to the Pastor of the Church whether he feels it's appropriate during the actual Mass. Personally, I think this song should be played during National Holiday weekends. It is so beautiful on an organ.
@brynnkohler40846 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The National Anthem cannot be played "during the actual Mass".

I mean... for starters, whether or not they can play this in a Catholic Church or mass is irrelevant... St. Bartholomew's isn't Catholic. Actually, if you look at the history and context of the Episcopal church, it' s rather appropriate for them to be playing patriotic music. Regardless, this is the largest organ in NYC. By that merit alone, they can, and should, play whatever they want. Lol.

It's always so weird listening to recordings from churches, when you're inside the organ sounds alligned with the voices in volume, yet when you hear it back like this the organ's obviously dominant.

I find it very odd to sing patriotic tunes in any Christian Church, but by definition, a national anthem is a hymn. It could be sung in a church under very specific circumstances, such as on July 4, int he US. Otherwise, keep the human-centric secular things out of the House of God.
