If you did extend the side boards to the front, you’d have at least 3 additional improvements… #1. Entire board would be stiffer #2. You could put in a cross piece and move your tackle box to the middle for better weight distribution AND it becomes a potential seat #3. You could put in a cross piece at the front and attach “reins” to hold onto when at speed. Great build, thanks for sharing 🖖

I run a 14' aluminum V-hull with a 15 hp Mercury tiller with an extension. I like to stand in smoother water and have a platform up between the front seats for fishing. Rough water if you sit in the stern, the ride is much smoother than forward. I love how your SUP skiff is laid out. 9.9 hp sounds fun. Awesome!!! I have put together a few inflatable sup's with gas outboards. When I saw that same monster board on Temu a few months back I didn't hesitate to buy one. I got some simple glue on fittings and put a motor mount on the back with a lil 3hp outboard. After seeing your build I have to step up my HP for sure. One thing that really stabilizes the board for me is I have a nice boat chair that I can strap on the middle of the board/ that's where My Puppy sits and I stand behind it and use it to hold on to. Furthest I have gone was 14 miles and that was with 2 people on the board. I use it for fishing and lobster fishing. Im thinking about taking it to Catalina island 38 miles offshore.

I would build an upside down U shaped grab handle that goes across the front of your wooden motor mounts. It would stiffen up the mount and give a spot for front and rear passengers to hold on to. Similar to the one's on little skiffs. beef it up with braces or guy wire it with rope to the handles depending on how strong those handles are. At it's simplest, a rope between the handles to hold onto. Awesome build. Old School looks like he's having a little too much fun.

You can extend those side pieces with 2x4s to the front to stiffen the board so it doesn't bounce or flex as much. I turned one of the smaller TEMU paddle boards into an RC rescue boat for My RC planes. I used a brushless motor and an airplane propeller like a swamp boat so it wouldn't get stuck in the weeds. There are a lot of small flats canoe/skiffs that are meant to run while standing. A lot of them have a small u type rail that mounts to the floor and you hold when standing. Look at a Gladesman canoe. If you had a bar that would fold up and lock in place between the forward arms of the bracket, that would be great for standing and fishing. You could include cup holders and tackle tray, rod holders. There are lots of ways to accessories that.

Build what is essentially a stupidly fast and powerful R/C boat that is molded to fit the stern of the inflatable board. Set it up to be controlled via an Arduino board by a waterproofed wireless version of your favorite console video game controller. I'm thinking a Wii Nunchuck would be pretty ideal to control a super fast paddle board. Maybe find some really fast R/C boat motor assemblies on Temu and just have like 30 of them on there running off an ebike battery. Find some flexible solar panels that are durable enough that you can cover the deck with them and they can collect light when you're not standing on them, or whatever light you're not blocking. Incorporate a bluetooth audio system into the motor enclosure that puts out music at a volume and quality that people will say you have no business having on a paddleboard. This could also double as a horn, you could set up a button to blow the sound of a massive ship horn or something. Top it off with a flagpole that handle a small American flag and a stern light. If you really wanna go next level, find some epoxy that works with this material well enough that you can cut some holes and install legit rod holders, cupholders, lights, speakers, everything else right into the inflatable board, although a lot of consideration would have to be taken for deflating and folding it.

just a tip from a 20 year OMC mechanic: the impeller and t stat need to be replaced. indicator flow / telltale means NOTHING other than pump works! its the cylinder head temp that matters. after a few minutes the t stat opens and should start spraying water out the exhaust reliefs. look for 125-155f at the TOP of the head at idle. i didnt see much water coming out the relief at speed just exhaust, so you want to be darn sure its cooling correctly.

@JoeOceanside6 күн бұрын
Yeah thanks! I thought about making the boards run all the way to the front, that could help with the flex. But I was trying to balance between strength and portability and trying to keep it small. Also I should pre bend the boards so they have a slight upward curve toward the front, it might help light the nose more. Good observation, thanks for watching!

That mount would have been much stronger if you had just used regular wood glue. Just for future reference, if you can clamp the boards together, so you get a flat surface against a flat surface, the wood glue will join the wood, and will be stronger at that joint than the wood itself. Without screws or anything. I'm a woodworker, so I enjoy all that kind of learning.
@JoeOceanside4 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, some of my angles were a bit off and I had to modify with the grinder a bit so I didn't think it was flat enough for wood glue. I thought since the gorilla glue has some expansion to it that would fill the gaps.
