Joe and Goggins I don't know if you read these but I just wanted to say thank you. I lost 55kg (121lbs) quit an alcohol addiction (was on 20 cans of cider a day) and recovered from depression and suicidal thoughts and it's all because of men like you. I sorted my shit out through nothing but determination, taking a long hard look at myself and realising that I was making huge mistakes and I needed to sort it out, I've listened to people like Goggins and CT Fletcher and realised that if I wanted to make changes it was going to come down to taking responsibility and working my ass off. The change in my happiness and outlook on life happened so fast when it finally clicked that I was the one in control. Not only did I finally sort myself out I'm now a PT and Motivational Speaker trying to wake others up to the possibilities they have if they just start waking up and getting after it, day after day after day. Sometimes it gets through to people I know that people like you Joe and David sometimes draw criticism from people who can't face reality and it must get exhausting, so I just wanted to say please keep up the good work, you really are saving lives with your message, mine included. Ever thankful Corin (EDIT: YOO was not expecting the amazing comments and feedback everyone! Feels like a lonely road on a journey of self-improvement in today's culture but I'm so often reminded that there's a silent army marching with me as we move relentlessly forwards, let's keep grinding after it squad, after all : WHO'S GOING TO CARRY THE BOATS?!!!) (Edit 2: Electric Boogaloo Can't believe this got 1,000 likes and all the responses have been amazing. It's been such a lonely road but now I feel you all with me. LET'S FUCKING GO. I have a few videos on my small time channel with some meditations and workout videos etc, not trying to make it as a KZbinr or anything not fishing for subscribers but if anyone is interested in my journey and what happened it's all there. Stay hard.)

No one could help I couldn't get out of this loop, one morning I found David Goggins n started calling myself a p*ssy etc instead of babying and feeling bad for myself. Still got a lot of work to do but I'm so much better back to functioning and working out 6 days a week. Praise God and Thank You David

These 2 guys have had such a profound impact on my life over the past 5 or so years man. I'm down 56kg, finished my degree which I didn't believe I could ever finish, I used to be a fat lazy mofo with no motivation and even less discipline. I couldn't even walk 1km without having to pause to catch my breath, now I'm up at 3 am to get a 10km run in before hitting the gym before work, don't matter if its the middle of the winter, I'm fucking running. Thank you Joe for all the knowledge you bring to people through your podcast. I've learned so much through all of the conversations you've had with uncommon people. Just thank you man.

@Euro K. I listened to this Dec 7th 2018. Downloaded his book a day or two later. 20 years of no exercise, smoking, drinking and obesity from unhealthy processed foods and sugars ended. I was 235lbs and now 194lbs. Switched to a Whole Foods plant based nutrition. I’ve now completed 3 sprint triathlons, 4th next week. Over 100 swims, bikes and runs. Just came back now to listen again. I can’t thank Goggins enough. This man truly woke me up from 20 years of zombie-dom.

I started challenging myself to do public speaking, which led to winning a competition, giving a TEDx talk, and performing stand-up comedy in North America and Europe. It still feels surreal to me. I used to be a hardcore athlete, played every sport, won international tournaments for Chinese martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, ran 20+ miles a week, worked construction 10 hours a day and would still have energy to hit BJJ after or run a quick 3 miles. Fell out of all of it over years of neglect, drugs, laziness, mental blockages and excuses. Got hooked smoking cigarettes and vaping. Started drinking more. Got to a point where I couldn’t go 5 minutes without getting some form, any form, of nicotine. Started listening to Goggins. I’m now 45 days off nicotine and back to working out intensely, even if it’s not every day. Goggins helped me cultivate my own “Goggins” and I’m excited to cultivate this new killer mentality that once was ordinary and common to me before. It feels like I’m relearning how to walk but I’ve needed it for so long. One day I’ll be like Boat Crew 2. Get after it. Stay hard. Edit: next month makes one year off nicotine and alcohol. My diet has changed tremendously. I train BJJ 6 days a week. I haven’t needed to listen to Goggins in months. I’m self-sufficient and have made extensive leaps in my career field: numerous raises, two promotions and a third coming soon. When I feel broken and get down on myself, I am always reminded of where I was a year ago. I was disgusting and exhausted. It’s never too late. Stop thinking and start doing. Stay hard.

I started running back in 2019 (29 y/o) when I realized that I wanted to be in my prime in my 30's, 9 months in my process COVID started, gym closed, I started running 5K daily outside under south Texas heat 95-100+F, then 150 pull ups and 150 push ups, I pushed myself everyday, it became sort of addiction and I haven't stopped, it's been 3 years and a half. I'm not super strong but I feel way better than my early 20's, went through depression during the lockdowns but I didn't stop. Never heard of Goggins until now, and he's 100% spot on, do you want to be skinny or in shape? How much do you want it? Are you really prepared to go after it? Don't listen to the haters, I started hearing people telling me I was so skinny and I have a six pack and lift everyday, bunch of fat dummies in their 30's criticizing me. Don't listen to them, be in the weight you're comfortable with.

The quote originally comes from Virgil in the Aeneid (a truly foundational work in Roman history), "Even as when northern Alpine winds, blowing now hence, now thence, emulously strive to uproot an oak strong with the strength of years, there comes a roar, the trunk quivers and the high leafage thickly strews the ground, but the oak clings to the crag, and as far as it lifts its top to the airs of heaven, so far it strikes its roots down towards hell - even so with ceaseless appeals, from this side and from that, the hero is buffeted, and in his mighty heart feels agony: his mind stands steadfast; his tears fall without effect."

In the middle of the night at my Mother's house he had a heart attack and died in my arms. I tried CPR until the ambulance arrived and failed in my head. He passed away in my arms. This was 2 months after I got rear ended by a 18 wheeler in a 9 car pile up. Between my Father and this accident, I had to rehab for 1 year and gained 60 lbs. Since February I weighed 280 lbs! I am down to 230 lbs now. My goal is 200 lbs. I will get to that goal! I appreciate people like you, Joe Rogan and others that inspire the world. Thank you so much Sir.

Damn. This really resonated with me. I’ve never heard of David before, but this dude is the real deal! I have been in a fucking RUT for a long time. And I’ve tried to get out of it, put in some effort that I am proud of at times, but I just keep quitting and going back to square one. This morning was another day where I woke up feeling COMPLETELY defeated. Laid in bed for 6 hours, didn’t even want to be alive. Came home from work and randomly decided to give this a listen. It’s 11 o’clock at night and I just did a small, short work out, that wasn’t much, but it was a lot for me. And I pushed myself hard until my legs and arms were shaking. Like I said, this really resonated with me. I often look for intellectual motivation. Something that makes me THINK I can overcome my struggles. This shit got me up off the couch, it got me to ACT. I can’t remember exactly what David said at the beginning, but something about him not being a theorist. I needed this right now. Thank you.
