I’m a corporate attorney who’s repped several startups that have been “de banked” & it’s awful. There are ways to deal with it, but Marc clearly didn’t want to talk about those here publicly. You can’t “go to cash” when you have $30 million in the bank. What’s wild is that many of these are fully legal fields, just regular tech & biotech, but banks are able to do it under KYC (Know your Customer). Those rules were intended to prevent fraud but they are being totally misused. The weirdest case I’ve had involved a startup getting debanked over one of the exec’s twitter behavior against Hilary Clinton. Sounds impossible, right? Some of you may even know who this is. Anyway, the startup had over $40 million in assets with JP Morgan that we basically had to offshore. We had to create new entities, remove him from the partnership agreements. It was awful. All over… some bad jokes about Clinton 😂
@fleetc26 күн бұрын
That is actually quite interesting to know and shocking at the same time. Under those circumstances, how do you move those assets? Is bitcoin useful for that or maybe some other crypto?, or does the bank still allows transferring to an offshore bank? Or does JP just hands out the cash in some briefcases and you get someone to fly those to an offshore bank?... Hope you don't mind me asking about those details, not that I need it 🤣. Learning about these debanking cases is wild, unreal!
