The difference is sat and street/indoor cameras. If you know roughly the time of disappearance and place you can track ANYONE. The killer can be days ahead of the cops and be traced to exactly where he is. Technology is amazing.

Im talking about 2010 to 2020 where you got cameras on every street corner from at least 1 vantage point. just because its 2020 doesnt mean someone wont kill u for lols or just looking at them the wrong way. Well, it is the same for a lot of serial killers. Of course, there's the most famous example of Henry Lee Lucas claiming to have killed 100s of people when it's possible (not confirmed) that he only killed 3 people. The horrifying truth is that we don't know how many victims there are and the sad truth is that families may not get the closure they deserve.

I’m a former West Wichitan. My parents were both east siders and mom went to school with the Otero family (the surviving son). We left the city in 1999 but made frequent visits because my father/sibling and grandma still lived there… grandma still in the house on Edgemoor… down the street from the old Otero house. Absolutely terrifying that BTK had such a grip in that city spanning generations. Not only that, but I had teachers in KC who had also been directly affected by him back in the day. I’ll never forget one of them bursting into the other’s classroom yelling “THEY FINALLY CAUGHT HIM!” and none of the other kids knew what they were talking about (though that was when they arrested the he wrong guy) I later worked with a former CO who transported him and described Rader as “a nice enough guy- good conversationalist. He just happened to like torturing and killing people”. F*cking eerie how easily they can fly under the radar

I know the story has inspired many movies, but I am really surprised that one hasn’t been made specifically of Holmes. One could see a number of treatments being popular. A stylistic costume drama that cast him as the protagonist, a historical, psychological thriller, or even a bleak and gritty horror movie.

I heard a quote “we sold the be giving killers cool names like the Zodiac, the Night stalker, the ripper, Giggling nanny etc. that Glorifies killing” it makes those with the list to kill carry the it they’re acts, knowing they’ll go down in history...probably with a cool nickname. Then they come to the realization, they have to kill a great number of people or carry out they’re act so horrifically it’s never forgotten.

I have seen it a few times, and it is really creepy! In my grandmother’s time, there were rumors in the area that Bell was doing a Mrs. Lovett with the bodies. 5:40. Ok, Joe, you brought it up, and so I must ask: I've noticed my local murder often hosts several other neighborhood murders, for instance when the neighbors acorns ripen. So what do you call a conclave of murders? [a neighbor just cut down two beautiful 75' tall pine trees, so they don't conclave here anymore, too lowly to perch on a common telephone pole!

Hey, Joe you're awesome. Love your content. Before mudgett, there was a family out in kansas that were killing people but not a lot of people know of them. They were the benders. What keeps them from being recognized as being the first serial killers? Keep up the great work.

My great cousin died by him at the world's fair in Chicago, my grandma and grandpa lived on Jackson St downtown. She visited and got a room in that boarding house that day. Never to be seen again. I hope it's hot where he is!!

I’ve read a lot on Mudgett, but this is the most vigorous Application of Hanlon’s Razor to his legend and reality I’ve ever seen; the scientist in me yells: bravo! The creepy kid in me that loves scary stories mumbles: Ah, nuts!

There's a great book called "Devil in the White City" which chronicles both the Chicago World's Fair and Holmes life. It's very good. The same author, Erik Larson, wrote "Isaac's Storm," also a great book. "Devil..." can be heard on YT.
