I had spent a lifetime of cooking on gas ranges. We just moved to a neighborhood without gas. The old electric range was pretty terrible so we bought this Frigidaire range. The one with the controls on the front. I LOVE it. So easy to use and clean. And pretty much like the gas, if it is on, it is on and once you turn it off, it immediately shuts off. Thanks for your review Joe, it is excellent!

@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
Our dishwasher has front mounted controls like that, and I constantly touch things on it accidently when leaning on the counter.... Imagine it can be a similar issue if do that sort of thing... Our range requires longer presses to active things though, so if the front mount controls are similar it might help a lot with that.

We’ve owned our Frigidaire Induction range for 4 years now and it is a dream. Best range we’ve ever owned. We don’t use our oven as often. I think I’ve done a self-cleaning once. We’re retired and I do have a counter top air fryer. And we’re vegan so vegetarian meat dishes don’t require very long cooking. We don’t cook with oil except rarely so without gas burners, the kitchen cabinets do not get greasy with a sticky varnish you have a hard time cleaning. Love, love, love the induction. Yes, boiling water is super fast. Cleaning the induction top is quick and easy and after 4 years of use, the whole unit looks brand new. I’ve had electric oven which was a Jenn Air with two burner modules. I liked it, but it had also char broil on the top, the meat tasted incredible but it was awful to try to clean. We use Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner. Works well, we also tried a different brand but the Weiman is our preferred one now. We switched to vegetarian diet as my husband had Prostate Cancer, my mother and sister also died of breast cancer - so, for going vegetarian is better for both of us. The one thing I don’t use on my cooktop but put on a separate one burner induction single burner, is my wok. I like that as it has controls which give me the temperature. That is the only thing I wish my range had. One has to be sure they don’t leave the burner on “P” as it is just to get it hot too fast due to the carbon steel which is different than stainless, I’ve found. I think that was my problem. The one burner the right front, got a mar on it from the wok with was difficult to clean off. As I have the other induction burner I use for the wok, I have a lot of pride in my range. It always looks beautiful. Will take the single induction top with us for our motor home though. Yes, one has to have the right pots and pans. It would be nice if the number settings have a temperature settings as I’ve found that very intuitive with my Rosewell induction single burner. The Frigidaire was so much more affordable. The electric hook up has to be what the range calls out, so if your electrician is difficult, as ours was reluctant, I told him what it requires and so we needed the the circuit breaker and proper plug with the right amperage and gauge wire in the wall. If you know about these thing which are fully explained in the owner’s manual, you’ll get the best out of your range. Not everyone is familiar with induction so insist they put the electric in for the range according to the specifications. Would I buy this range again? Yes, but it isn’t showing a bit of wear at all. Not like having a gas range where you just wish your could get it to look clean after the first year. Mine looks like it was just installed! As I said, my range does not do the steam clean and has only two racks. I do have a counter top air fryer. But we paid about $800 for our Frigidaire range 4 years ago. Yes, it was more than the gas but it is so much safer and stays so much clearer. I am always cooking as I love to cook. It makes cooking a delight. My husband enjoys cooking on it. I asked him if he ever missed cooking with gas and he says “No way. This is so-o-o-o much better!” I did call Frigidaire to see if I could bridge the left front and back to use the Cuisinart Griddle and they said yes. I’d been considering the GE. Basically they do the same function but cost about $500 for the same function at the time. Never been disappointed in my Induction range by Frigidaire. There was a model which did not do Convection bake, mind does the convection and it does make food quite crisp on the Quick Bake. No stores carried the range we wanted but we ordered from Best Buy. And except for a long wait, the installation was very good. No other company in town had any induction ranges. When one has to start learning how to protect the one you love from cancer, it is worth learning. Inhaling uncombusted gas fumes is not good for health either. The top does not stay as hot in comparison to a radiant glass top like my Jenn Air was. So much better. Any range requires being careful but with the controls on the back, it is safer for our grand kids. For that reason, I did not like the more expensive slide in range. Ours has the controls on the back. Two thumbs up. Frigidaire!

@@JoesPhenomenalI am 69 and my husband is 70. He only takes one pill a day: blood pressure, though his is not sky high, even so, only one. I take no medications at all except if I need an allergy pill. Most in our same age bracket, if they want to avoid dementia and having stints put in, would be better for their health to go to a diet which is not causing heart disease. Dr. Esselstyn worked with seniors and reversed heart disease and no more heart attacks so long as they followed the diet. The same reasons why people get heart disease also clogs arteries to the brain. I do a lot of typing, as it is part of my daily therapy for my hands. I recovered from crippling arthritis by changing my diet. Went dairy-free to give that a test and I got out of my wheelchair and have not looked back. My dad died of Alzheimer’s. So keeping my wits about me is top priority as I had to take care of him. We have twin grandsons, soon to be 2 years old. And their parents work full time so we are over helping out a lot. And I want to be a blessing and not have the burden my parents, through their lack of knowledge about health, put on my shoulders. If we are well, everyone in the family benefits. Yes, I do sleep well and am not in pain. Glad for the internet and I would wish that people would use it to find ways to stay well as I did. Not all we think is healthy can be or we would not have so much diseases as we get older and the obesity is major right now. Learning how to cook and how to do it quickly, keeping everything clean, these are major advantages. You should see if AARP Magazine would do a story on the benefits for seniors with induction. Just bought the version with the control panel in front. We love it! You don't have to press hard on the buttons. You have to hold your finger on the button for the burners about a second to turn them on. You only have to touch the same button to turn it off. This is to avoid turning burners on by accident. You really have to have all your ingredients ready before you start cooking. My pans heat so quickly that your oil or butter will burn in a few seconds after turning the burner on. Another feature I like is the burners will turn off after several seconds if there isn't a pan on them. The Fridgidaire is such a bargain compared to most of the other brands. It lacks a couple of things that would have been nice like a fifth burner or a bridge between burners to use a griddle or roasting pan, but for the price I have no complaints.

The straight scoop on using 2 burners for griddle cooking. Some ranges have a "sync" ability that links the burners together allowing the use of one control for the two burners. Clean up with the glass cooktop was magically delicious and easy cheesy peasy! I've got a few question that you or your readers might be able to help me with. My questions have to deal with the different control panel options and when I should use which option. 1. Why wouldn't I use CONVECTION roast or bake every single time instead of standard baking or broiling? 2. Quick Preheat- Why don't ALL of the options have quick preheat automatically added instead of having a special button for Quick Preheat? Should I use Quick Preheat and then switch over to Conv Bake or Conv Roast after it preheats? 3. What is the practical/actual difference between Air Fry and Conv Bake? Anyone feel free to please chime in! Keep up the good work Joe!

Heya Brian... Glad you're enjoying you range. Yes! That cleanup is amazing. Especially for me since I have to clean it every day to make sure it looks good on KZbin. Our gas range used to make me 30 or 40 mins to clean each time, since I had to scrub the grates and everything all the time. Now, it's like 30 seconds. haha. As for as the bake and roast, you will want to use convention more so when you have uncovered stuff on multiple shelves and you need to even the heat out as much as possible. For other situations, it's not needed (but I usually just convect all the time anyway, out of habit). Just remember that covection bake and roast times are shorter than conventional, so if you are following a recipe , you have to adjust times and\or temperatures. The "quick" options use a lot more power, so maybe that's why they keep it optional??? But you can do that and then switch over when it's at temp and that's no problem at all. Lastly, the air fry feature is basically convection baking with the fan running a lot faster. Also, I think it pumps out more heat at the same time... Either way, the results are good. If you do decide to do some air frying in it, be sure to check out my video about reducing smoke coming out of the range. Air fry can be annoying that way. Hi Joe. Thanks for the in-depth review. Also enjoyed the review on the Costco 5 ply cookware set. Very informative. I saw someone asked about using a 12" pan in a previous post. The markings on the cooktop are misleading. The right front marking is 11.5" in diameter but the coil, under the cooktop, is only 8.3". The two on the left side are 7" and the RR is 5.5". I boiled water in a 12" frying pan. on the right front, and you can see where the heat is applied and is about 8" in diameter. Via conduction, heat will eventually spread to the outer areas of the pan. Deal breaker? I don't know. Would've preferred an 11" coil, LG induction stove, but that would've cost 2.5 times as much as this stove. For me, it didn't justify the cost. I've had it about 2 weeks. So far, I'm happy with it. Also, I've found if you hold your finger on the buttons they work fine. I assume Frigidaire added a little time delay to prevent accidentally turning on the cooktop or oven. Keep up the good work!

Welttiger, I did the water boil test on all 4 burners and it seems to me that my cooktop doesn't auto scale. I used a 12 inch wide baking sheet to do this test. On the two burners on the left side, the ring was about 4-5 inches wide. I would've though it would activate the max 7 inch coil for these. On the right front burner, the ring was about 6 inches in diameter. Is that what you have seen on yours? Or does this seem odd to you too? Thanks

We purchased this exact Frigidaire Gallery Free-Standing Induction Range, in black stainless steel, a few months ago. This range is model#: GCRI3058AD. This range replaced a 5 year old (still working) Whirlpool gas range that came with our new home when we had it built 5 years ago. We absolutely love this Frigidaire Induction Range, and so far we have no complaints at all regarding the range. We received a great deal on this range at Lowe's, and we even got them to throw in the Frigidaire Air-Fry oven rack for free (with a little negotiating). However, the delivery and "installation" by Lowe's was a joke. The delivery crew was clueless, so I ended up installing the range myself. At least I know the range is installed safely and securely though. The required 240v/50a-4 conductor electrical circuit was actually more expensive to have installed than the cost of the range itself. Go figure... lol. The induction cooktop works great. It heats super fast, and it cooks very evenly. We have used up to a 12.5 inch round griddle pan on the largest "burner" with no problem at all. Cleanup of the ceramic cooktop is a breeze. We use Pledge all-surface cleaner to clean the cooktop, and then seal it with automotive ceramic paint sealer. Absolutely nothing sticks to the cooktop after sealing it, and it really shines. We have also found that the quality of the cookware used has a LOT to do with how well the induction cooktop functions. We have a brand new set of Circulon Premier Professional Cookware, and they all work great with this range. The Circulon cookware heats evenly, with very minimal (if any) buzzing or vibrating. The Air-Fry oven is amazing. The oven heats up quickly. It also bakes, convection bakes, air fries (with the Air-Fry oven rack) , and broils to perfection. The convection fan runs even during regular baking, to circulate heat, and it is very quiet. The steam-clean feature works well to get superficial grime off of the bottom of the stove, but it does not do much else in the way of cleaning the upper oven walls. We have not had to use the regular (super hot) oven cleaning mode yet, so I cannot comment on how well it works at this point. For those "complaints" about the control panel sensitivity. The buttons actually work like the "long-press" function on a smart cell phone screen. Press the on/off button lightly for a couple of seconds to turn the oven and burners on and off. The incremental burner heat adjustments can be changed by holding down the plus or minus buttons until the display shows the heat setting you want.There is no need to "poke" at the control panel buttons as some people have stated the need to do. It takes a while to get used to the button sensitivity, but once you do it becomes second nature. FYI...There actually are two beeps when you push the temperature change buttons. One beep when you actually push the button, and a second beep, about 2 to 3 seconds later, when the temperature actually changes. The only minor complaints that we have about the Frigidaire Induction Range are superficial and cosmetic. We wish that there was actually more black stainless steel trim, as it looks amazing. Also, as with almost all ranges in this price range, the bottom storage drawer is kind of cheap and flimsy. I had to tweak the drawer in order for it to slide straight into its compartment, but the drawer functions correctly now, and it is very handy to store the cookware that we don't hang on the overhead pot rack. As I stated previously, so far we are loving this Frigidaire Induction Range. Hopefully it will hold up over time, as things are not made anymore like they used to be. We have not had any of the issues with our range that some reviews have complained about. Those very limited and random complaints include, a defective or touchy control panel, off-center or non-functional burners, or a loud convection fan. So far it looks like we received a "perfect" range functionally and cosmetically, and we truly hope it remains that way. Frigidaire actually has a KZbin video that shows complete disassembly and reassembly of the range, for those that like to do their own DIY repairs after the warranty expires. It looks like most of the range's components are modular and plug-n-play, so they should be easy to order and replace in the future, if necessary. I highly recommend this Frigidaire Gallery induction range for anyone looking to get away from gas or standard electric type stoves. There are a lot of features on this range for the price, and you can always find some great deals on this range at a lot of the big home center stores. If anyone has any questions regarding this Frigidaire Gallery induction range, just let me know, and I will be happy to answer them. I have learned a LOT about this range in the short time we have owned it. 🙂

Awesome insight! Thanks for taking the time to write all that out. It's super helpful for our audience. I agree with just about everything you said there. We were lucky that we had an electrician friend that came in to add our 240v outlet. It ended costing us a lot less to put it, UT it was an expense that we were ready expecting as soon as we startedokking for ranges since we knew we'd have to do it if we purchased an induction range. Sorry to hear about Lowe's dropping the ball on ya. That sucks. Weird though... It shouldn't be all that difficult an installation.

@@JoesPhenomenal Thanks for the positive feedback on my breakdown of the Frigidaire Induction Range. It is much appreciated. Anything I can do to help out, while promoting a great product, is no problem at all for me. Yeah, I usually have a good experience with Lowe's customer service, but they really screwed up on this one. Not only was the range delivered over 3 weeks late, their "included installation" was non-existent. Also, hindsight is one of those things that you sometimes just have to say, "Yeah, we really should have done that when we first had the chance." When we had our new house built 5 years ago, there was an "option" to have a 240v/50a circuit installed in the kitchen for around $250. The construction came standard with a natural gas hookup and a 120v/20a dedicated electrical circuit included behind the stove, since the house came standard with a Whirlpool 5 burner gas range (which worked well). However, the current cost to have the new 240v/50a circuit installed was around $1,100. This is mainly because 6 gauge, 4 wire electrical cable is going for around $7 a foot right now, and the run from the circuit breaker box to the kitchen was over 75 feet. Live and learn I guess....lol. I would say that the electrical circuit installation cost was well worth it though, since it enabled us to get this great Frigidaire Induction Range. I would have done the electrical circuit installation myself, as I have done this type of work before, but I am friends with a local electrical contractor, and I wanted a licensed installer to do the work, so there is no permit or installation questions during a possible future home-sale or refinance inspection. 🙂

@TheGuitarman19689 ай бұрын
@@hollomand8770That is very peculiar indeed. We have had the Frigidaire Gallery Induction Range for about 18 months now, and it has worked flawlessly in all of this time (knock on wood). Have you tried "rebooting" the range by unplugging it or shutting it off at the circuit breaker for a few minutes? Sometimes this helps to reset computer controlled electronic devices (like rebooting the MS Windows OS). Also, check to make sure that the 240v/40a pigtail cord is connected tightly to the range. The Lowe's installers left the cord on our range very loose, so I re-tightened it before I installed the range myself. Hopefully, you did not get a "lemon," but it happens. If this issue continues, I would contact your place of purchase and/or Frigidaire and request a replacement stove. They both usually give you 30 days to exchange a bad range. Honestly, this is a great range in our own personal experience. Good luck!😊

@hollomand8770 Have you tried unplugging the range or shutting it off at the breaker for a few minutes? Sometimes, this "reboot" will help reset the computer controller. Is the electrical connection tight to the cord at the stove? If these checks do not work, I would contact the store where you bought the range and/or Frigidaire. Most stores have a 30-day return policy. Hopefully, you did not get a lemon, but it does happen occasionally. We have had this range for 18+ months now, and it has been working flawlessly (knock on wood). Good luck!😊

Chef Joe, your review was phenomenal. Unfortunately, I did not find your video while researching the range. I was happy to hear no significant dings against the range. My Frigidaire Gallery Induction Range w/Air Fry (GCRI3058AF) will be delivered and installed later today. Question: My Lodge Cast Iron skillet has a ring around the bottom of the pan near the edge. Will this properly heat on the cooktop? Similarly, my griddle has ridges on one side that puts grill marks on the meat. When I have that side down to use the flat side for cooking, will it heat properly?

That's an interesting question. I would assume that it won't heat well on any area that doesn't make direct contact with the induction surface. It's gonna be really close to it though, so I'd be curious to see if it still works OK.

Purchased good quality non-stick aluminum pans with induction discs cast into pan bottoms. Very even heat with almost no induction noise, good combo. Cast iron is good for oven applications where lids and handles may not take the heat. Cast iron on cooktop I use parchment which can have a moisture barrier material in it. This will transfer to cooktop glass. Barkeepers Friend is mild abrasive to clean and not scratch glass.

Both have multi-grain setting with a profile to cook difficult grains. I like whole grain Emmer Wheat Farro which is the hardest grain to cook. The 7604 takes 2) 1 1/2hr cycles to cook this grain, non-induction take 3 cycles. Grain is firm chew and nutty and very nutritious. Quinoa cooks much faster in one cycle with 1/2hr soak. Emmer is 6hrs keep warm, 8hr soak and 3hr cook. In my mind it is worth it. Use a flavored broth for both and add a diced chili.

Does the oven get really warm on outside when using air fry? I have been debating on buying an oven with air fry. The smaller air fryers don't give off heat on the outside when used, like a microwave. My house gets hot in the summer and I don't like turning my oven on then for that reason.
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
Heya, Alexandra. It gets a little warm from the hot exhaust during the air fry... It heats a lot more space than the small air fryers, so I guess that has to be a bit of a byproduct. In the summers, it does make a noticeable difference in heat in the house... Air frys are typically not super long though, so it's not heating the place up like roasting a turkey or anything, but still.

Cooling fan. I have recently purchased an LG LSE4616STSS. The cooling fan is extremely loud. After you’re done cooking, it continues to cool very loudly so you have to continue listening to the cooling fan while you’re eating your meal. Especially in the morning when it’s quiet and there’s no noise in the house, this fan continues to hum. Is the Frigidaire cooling fan loud as well?
@JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Are you talking about the convection fan? If so, that fan makes a bit of noise, but only whne you have the oven on. You can hear it in my newer videos where the oven is in use. I don't believe it stays on after the oven is turned off, though. However, I will Be making soufflé later on today, and will double check that for you and get back to you on it.

OK... Just finished the soufflé. As soon as we shut our oven down, the convection fans turn off. They're a little noisy when we are baking with convection turned on, but our oven is silent when we just do a regular bake. Also when we shut the oven off, the fan shuts off too. Maybe that's just something weird with the LG?

How big are the magnets under each burner? I've heard warping can occur with magnets that are smaller than the pan.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Heya, Patrick. The bottom of the pot or pan is designed to distribute the heat throughout the pot or pan evenly. If you use a gas burner or induction unit that has a smaller circumference than the actual pan, then the majority of the heat will be generated more in the middle and less on the outsides. The actual induction units in the range tops are usually a little smaller than the circle painted on the top, so it's something to be a little concerned about. However, as long as the pan fits in that circle and doesn't overlap it, you should be ok. Conversely, if you use a larger induction burner with a smaller pan, it's not as big a deal as the induction only turns on for the area that the metals in the pan are detected.... so when in doubt, I would use a little larger burner if you can. That being said, I always use the ones that the paint is similar sized to the pan I use, and I've not had any problems. One extra thing to note is that you don't ever need to use high heat on induction.... med-hi should be fine for just anout anything.... Heating too quickly or overheating can warp, too, and induction is more likely to expoit that stuff due to it's efficiency. Hope that helps!

Hey Joe, I've had this range for 10 months now and thought of this review after doing a steam cleaning. Maybe it's because I cook for one, but I use the oven 3-4 times a week, and in 10 months I've only needed to steam clean so far. Steam clean doesn't take it to fresh out to the box, but it's still quite nice and saves me needing to do the big clean for longer. My sense, from previous ovens is that the big self-clean takes a toll on the inside lining. Am I wrong?
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
Hmmm... That's an interesting perspective. I think for light users like yourself, that feature might work a lot better since you aren't letting the oven get too dirty. I dunno if the self clean hurts the inner liner, but I do know that oven cleaners typically mess up the nonstick surface in them a bit. If anything, the self clean uses a whole lot of power though.

Thanks for the great review. I feel like I have a better idea of what I’m getting into if I buy this product. I had a question that wasn’t answered by the online manual. And now that I’ve read all of the comments and your responses, I realize that the manual isn’t an exact science. That’s good to know. Anyway, my question is about preheating the oven. It seems that just about every range I’ve owned previously has had a visual indicator that the oven has reached the desired temperature. My current electric range gives an audible beep at the moment that it reaches the desired temperature, but if I step out of the kitchen for a moment, I have no idea whether it has preheated or not. The manual for this item mentions an indicator beep, and it says that the screen will say “preheat” and the temperature that I’ve set it to, but I don’t know if the word “preheat” will disappear once it has reached the desired temperature. Or if there is any other visual indicator that it has finished preheating. Are visual preheat indicators a thing of the past? If so, that’s so inconvenient - and pretty careless from a universal access perspective.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
HI, and Thanks! Once it gets to the correct temp, it beeps. But then on the screen it just displays the current temp inside the oven, so if it says 400 when you come back, and that's what you set to, you know it's there. It doesn't really give you any other indicators though.
@utahjbird2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information. We brought our range home on Saturday. I came to find out that when you use the quick preheat feature, the temperature that you want it to get to is what shows on the screen. However, the words “quick preheat” also show. Once it has attained the desired temperature, the words disappear from the screen. So you know it’s done preheating. When using the regular bake feature, the word “preheat” will appear on the screen above the current temperature of the oven. So yes, like you said, if I’m waiting for it to get to 400°, I can watch it progress to that point. But either way, I know it’s preheating when it says it is. Simple and done. 😊 BTW, I’m loving all of your helpful info about cookware, etc., too. Thanks so much!

@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Induction burners don't actually produce any heat. They react with the metal in the base of the pans and cause the pan to heat. Any heat you feel on the surface of the burner is just heat being transfered from the pan back to the surface. When the pan reaches the resonance that the induction plate wants it to be at, it just scales back power to the point where the pan will just retain that temperature and keeps that power steady. It's really pretty slick.

When you have a lighter pan (not cast iron) on, are there any cold or hot spots? For example, making pancakes in a non-stick skillet or searing in a stainless pan, is there a completely even color across the food?
@JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
Well... Most no sticks are made from aluminum or aluminum with copper, so those heat pretty evenly.. They're just a little fragile and need a little higher heat to maintain that even color. If you're using a pure stainless pan, the heat disbursement isn't quite as good since stainless steel doesn't handle that well. However, if you are using multi-ply stainless with a aluminum/copper core or something, those are responsible for spreading that heat out. In that case you get an evenly heated pan that is strong as well. Induction in general helps keep everything even as well, though.. More so than a gas flame anyway... Just have to be careful with induction.. It can heat pans extremely fast... I'm sure people have had warping issues with those due to overheating pans if they weren't away how must faster they heat. I was really surprised. Still making adjustments to it actually... Everything is faster.
@adrianquan3 жыл бұрын
@@JoesPhenomenal Thanks for the reply! I guess what I'm really asking is when using an appropriately compatible induction pan that doesn't have as much mass to spread the heat as cast iron, is the temperature of the pan even across the whole thing, or are there cold spots between where the induction coils are.
@waynegomillion49762 жыл бұрын
@@JoesPhenomenal Appreciate it. Can you recommend compatible cookware? I was looking at Made In stainless steel.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Any multilayer stainless should work really well as long as it has that magnetic stainless layer in it... I would shy away from anything that feels "light" though.... Usually the better quality ones just have that extra due to all the different layered metals in it (stainless, aluminum, and copper usually). If you get the really light ones, sometimes they are single layer or something like that.. Without the aluminum or copper layers, you can get hot spot, and the pan might be a bit weaker too, making it a bit more prone to warping. Stainless all by itself is a really conductor of heat.

You would think baking for a certain time and then going to auto warm would be a pretty standard feature. Will let you know when they answer me. Might take a day or 2 since we are on a holiday weekend.

I borrowed an induction plate to test with my analon copper lined pans. Worked great but the squeaking vibration was too much for my son. Let’s just say styrofoam is banned from our house. Safe to say I’d need new pans if I get this range? Or do they all vibrate with a squeak?
@JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
I kinda figured it might be extra noisy with the plates.. Induction works by vibrating the iron molecules inside the metal (plate or pan). The higher the power, the more the vibration.. At least until it reaches a certain temperature anyways and the power can back off a little. With the plates, probably all the extra noise is the fact that the plate is vibrating under a pan that's sitting on it, so it's kinda loose.... Sort of like when you have an older car driving down the road and every bump causes annoying rattles. As far as pans go, different construction will cause varying amounts of noise due to what each layer is made out of, so a solid stainless pan might be a little more quiet than one that has some copper and aluminum layers, but they won't heat as evenly as a layered pan either. Does that make sense? Again, it kinda varies even with different brands because of differences in construction. Almost all the noise if coming from the pans and just a little from the range. If you watch some of my newer videos you can hear how if affects mine. In my case there is definitely some noise, but not enough for me to be irritated by it or anything... Definitely makes recording a little more challenging though. If you look down in the description of this video, I have a link to the exact pans that I am using if you wanna check em out... And for sure listen to the background of some of our videos if you wanna hear what they sound like.

Hello Joe, a question for you, when you received your induction cooker, did it have the power cord attached with it? I live in Montreal, Quebec Canada, I wrote to Frigidaire to ask if the cooker came with the power cord includiont the 3 prongs and they told me yes, except without the box with 3 or 4 prongs and that it is necessary to call an electrician to install the box I still don't understand what they mean about that, but, here in Montreal, stove or dryer outlets always come with 3 prongs. When I purchased my Amana range, the power cord came with the 3 prong box. Maybe you can help me on that! By the way, is Frigidaire an American company??? Thank you and good day !
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Heya... Frigidaire is part of the Swedish company, Electrolux. A lot of Frigidaires stuff is made in the USA though. When you buy ranges out here x they don't come with the power cable. I looked at one of these in the store and it seemed like the biggest burner wasn't very big, it was only about 8 inches. How do you cook with a big 12 inch pan on this? Doesn't the pan have to be the same size or small than the burner?
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
On oursz the largest burner is about 12" across, however, I know the induction units under the glass are slightly smaller than the etched circles on the glass. That being said, I haven't had any issues with even heating or warping or anything when using my big pans on that large burner. I was a little concerned about that too, like yourself.

@JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The cooktop on that is just glass, so it doesn't need anything too special for protection other than not slamming things down on it. However, it has all the lines on it for the burner positioning, and I'm not sure what they used to put that on, so what I do is I use a microfiber towel with some kitchen degreaser. Then I go over it again with a little bit of non-abrasive dish soap.. That way it shines up really nice without any smears or streaks. That surface shows every bit of dirt. All in all, it takes me about 2 mins to clean it up after use, so I can't complain. Lol!

Shouldn't damage the cook top.. Don't see why it would, the induction burners would just see that there's something there and that's about it, because they only turn of it the is a pan there.... @JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
Well, since all induction really does is vibrate the iron molecules in the metal to produce heat, I don't see why it would be a problem. I would think it might be a bit noisier, though. I'll look into that and get back to you. It's a great question!
@JoesPhenomenal3 жыл бұрын
OK... so look for sturdy disks with strong magnets and an easy-to-grab handle. Also, products with heat-proof handles are easier to use and more comfortable. Usually heavier ones are better. Be sure to get maybe 3 sizes, because it's better if you try to match the pot size to the disk size as close as you can. The Max Burton ones look to be pretty good for that. Here goes a link to one of theirs on amazon if you wanna read about it: amzn.to/3iSwoTw. Like I said before, there isn't much about these things that would lead me to believe that they will damage your range... the range just sees induction material.... it can't tell if it's a disk or a pan.... Probably it will heat your rice steaming pot slower than it would if it was already an induction ready pot though. You have the range heating the disk.. then the disk heating the pot, so there's a loss in energy there. Hope that helps!!!

Just a heads up, I was frustrated with turning on the cooktop too. But if you touch the on/off pad for a second or two rather than just a quick touch, it comes on every time. Not sure why it turns off quicker. I was hoping your review would include the sound your oven makes when on. Good point on the long presses. Once you get used to it's it's not so bad. I was going to try to include dB levels in the oven, but when I do my edits and fix my voice audio, it tends to drop the background oven noise down, so it's really hard to show it. I was a little annoyed by the noise at first also, but I hardly notice it all all anymore unless I'm recording and I need to make it really quiet. I think the air fry function added in there has something to do with the extra noise? I dunno... Kind of guessing at that a bit though.

Again, the broil function seems to have the same problem, it heats up, but when I open the oven to turn the meat it take 2-3 times as long to brown the other side of the meat. A couple of tips on the oven air fryer... To be sure you don't get too much smoke be sure to put a sheet pan lined with parchment paper on the shelf below your air fry tray to catch moisture, keep the inside of the oven as clean as possible, and whatever oil you use, be sure it has a high smoke temperature (avocado oil is 520 degrees). Very thorough review and well done. My primary reason for buying this range is the Induction Cook Top. “Induction is Awesome!” That pretty much sold me. We’ve got a great set of All Clad Stainless so I know they will work well but we will be looking for some high quality non stick pans. We’re having the Frigidaire model number #GCRI3058AF I do look forward to the easy clean surface and based on your description, the air fry feature sounds good. I have some concern about the touch pad panel controls, I think I would prefer knobs but I’m hoping the touch pad works well once we get used to it. Once again for an objective but very positive review. You helped me with our buying decision.

Hey hey! Glad I could help you! I wasn't sure I would like the pad controls at first either. They could be a little more responsive, but they are nice for cleanup over knobs. I used to have to pull the knobs off all the time for cleaning with the old range. Definitely, the Induction top is great for that too... It's what I hated the most about our old gas range. I'd spend an hour dealing with that once a week, before... and When I started this channel, it became a daily things since I didn't want it gross looking for videos going out to where ever.

@@JoesPhenomenal Hey! Thanks for such a quick response. I’ve been using a Duxtop single hob induction to cook my steaks and tuna and salmon for 12 years. It works great and I never think about it. I use an all clad frying pan, turn it on 10 and do 90 seconds a side on tuna, maybe 3 minutes a side on a big rare steak. I basically talked my wife into trying the Induction in the kitchen and now I really want it to make her happy with things like eggs and grilled cheese. We have a Stone Earth 8” non stick that works fine on radiant and will probably do great on induction but I’m thinking about Le Creuset frying pans smile.amazon.com/dp/B087SP6PDX/?coliid=IX5NGJ6UZKTHK&colid=X308WH4HBGJI&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it for 200 or the Ninja www.target.com/p/ninja-foodi-neverstick-essential-9pc-nonstick-cookware-set/-/A-84797684 multi set for 200. Maybe that’s an unfair question but do you have any experience or opinion about the quality of those two brands? Is Le Creuset the ultimate in true quality or is it just the fame of their Dutch ovens?

@@JoesPhenomenal Hello again. I forgot to say thanks for your insight on the touch pad vs knobs. As you point out, the touch pad will be easier to keep clean and so now I’m still really looking forward to getting this range. I specifically wanted the free standing induction because it will be much easier to clean the surface compared to the radiant ceramic glass where spills burn on and the back panel of the free standing acts as it’s own mini backsplash to protect our tiled wall. Thanks again!

I don't have any personal experience with Le Creuset, but they are supposed to be pretty badass. The ninja nonsticks are relatively new, but they get really great reviews. Probably I would think the Le Creusets would be better, but the Ninjas would be better value... They really do give you quite a bit for the money with they're other products, but it's hard to say for sure without trying em out myself. Hint hint, @NinjaKitchen. All that being said, remember that nonsticks have a relatively short life in general... They will lose that nonstick ability over the course of a few years... The tradition ones anyways. There are a lot of different surface types for that now that all claim much longer lifespans.

I bought this range last year and have been using it since 14 months. Last week my fan started making sharp noise. When I called the service team I was told that my warranty was over after 1 year. Now I am stuck and don't know how to fix it.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! That's terrible. Did they give you an estimate to repair? I don't imagine the fan is all that expensive, and looking at mine, it looks like you may be able to remove it from the inside possibly... Not sure about thatx though.
@TheGuitarman19682 жыл бұрын
@ashima saraf I also own this Frigidaire Induction Range. This is a great induction range, but a noisy convection fan seems to be a common complaint in a few of the reviews that I have read. Most of the time this noise is caused by a loose fan hub nut, improperly installed at the factory. You will need to remove the induction fan cover at the back of the oven in order to access the fan. First, unplug the range or turn off the power at the breaker. Then, remove the oven racks. Then, remove the top and bottom cover screws with a 1/4 inch nut driver, and then remove the cover. Then, tighten the nut that holds the fan hub on the spindle. Be careful not to over-tighten the nut, or damage the "Air-Fry" heating element that surrounds the convection fan. Hopefully this helps resolve your noisy convection fan issue. 🙂

@@TheGuitarman1968 Appreciate it. Did it work for you? Does it void the warranty?
@TheGuitarman19682 жыл бұрын
@@waynegomillion4976 Fortunately, our Frigidaire induction range has worked perfectly in all aspects since day one (knock on wood). However, we have some friends that have this same range, and the convection fan was making a loud rattling noise. I did this convection fan repair on their range for them, after watching a You Tube video showing how to do it. After the repair, the noise was gone. The convection fan in this oven is a little louder than some other oven brands anyway, and the fan runs (slower) even during the regular bake mode. However, the fan should not be making any unusual rattling, squeaking or whining noises. As for voiding the warranty. Normally, any time you "tinker" with any new device that is still under warranty you risk voiding said warranty. However, what Frigidaire doesn't know won't hurt them, or you. 😉

Hi. Did you perform the oven burn in for the first use? (I'm sure you did) and how did you perform that? I am wondering if the bad oven smell ever went away? I heard bad reviews about Frigidaire ovens and the bad oven smell never leaving the unit and some people can't bake at all even after months of having the oven/range. Did you experience this with this? ( I just bought an induction Frigidaire over weekend and I am fearful this could happen to me also) Thanks for any input! Very informative video too btw! ty.

Hey! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words! I burned it in just by doing a self clean. If you do it that way, you have to remove the racks though, since the self clean function can mess those up. I've never had any issues with any odors from mine though, and we've baked, broiled, and air-fried quite a bit of stuff here on the channel in it. I've seen those complaints though... Always wondered what was going on there.

No scratches, no nothing. Thirty years later, companies cut a lot of corners. Your lucky if today’s range, refrigerator, or any other large appliance will last beyond 5 years.

Had our Frigidaire Gallery GCRI3058AFE for about 10 hours now. Every once in a while there's a single beep. We try to run into the kitchen to see if there's an error code, but no luck. this oven is replacing a whirlpool that was only 2 years old. It crapped out and we thought a couple hundred dollars more we could have a convection oven with induction cook top. What a bummer, already having problems. The oven before that was 15+ years old and ugly but din't have any issues. We just "upgraded" after we remodeled the kitchen. Well, the old stuff obviously worked much better.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Heya, Matthew! Thanks for stopping by. I wouldn't get too dis-hearted with it just yet. I always figure that weird stuff can happen, especially these days since everything is so complicated anymore... If it ends up being a recurring thing, then that's a different story though.. Let's see if we can narrow down what's going on. This beep sound.. Is it just one beep once in a while? Can you tell if it's happening at a pretty steady pace or at totally random times? Have you used the oven portion of it yet? Also, do you have anything that gets left out on the induction burners... like a hot water kettle or something? Messing around online, I was able to come up with a couple of things it might possibly be based on the answers to these. One that can definitely be an issue is the 240v outlet on the wall and the amount of power being supplied to it.... or even if there is a fault with it or something.... that would take an electrician to test though... Have you tried cycling the power to that breaker? Maybe leaving it flipped off for about a minute or so and then resetting it (that would, in turn reset the range, too, which could also clear that problem as well possibly)
@MattLunser2 жыл бұрын
@@JoesPhenomenal Thanks for the reply and time looking into the issue. That's very kind of you. The beep is very random. It doesn't seem to have any consistency to what causes it. We heated the oven when first installed to burn out the oils/grease per instructions. Burners seem to work properly. Boils water crazy fast. I've unplugged several times. I get 233v to 235v at the oven. (I'm not any kind of electrician so I don't know if the volts fluctuating like that is an issue.) Right leg to center is 117v and left leg to center is 116v. All three wires are firmly connected. We've witnessed the beep a few times now. When it beeps, both controllers for the right side burners show "hot surface" and read "8" on the digital dial. This lasts for about 1 sec. there's no error code displayed on the main panel. Perhaps there is a voltage issue and that's what shorted out our whirlpool. Thanks again
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... possibly.. looks like you did a lot of homework there... could even be a thermostat problem also... or maybe the control board.... possible damage during shipping maybe.. or a loose connection inside.... Those burners auto sense pans sitting on them, so I would think that it wouldn't do that... I have seen people complain about thermostat problems, and the hot surface light would make be think maybe there's something there on that... I know power fluctuation is a normal thing, and I'm dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to that, so I'm not sure on that one.. Have you had the frigidaire people come look at it. They have pretty good service... maybe they can just exchange it for you since you JUST got it...

@@JoesPhenomenal I purchased through Home Depot. The delivery guys made a point to tell me I have 2 business days to review and report any issues to Home Depot. If after the two day mark, it's a normal warranty claim and that can take time. I called my local HD this morning and they have a replacement coming out next week. No questions asked. I explained what was happening and asked if she's been hearing anything similar. She said not exactly like this issue but a slight uptick in QC related issues , or lack of, with several appliances. Sounds like Electrolux laid off several employees during the pandemic (like 99.99% of all other manufactures) and are now trying to keep up with demand, so stuff is just flying out the door. My guess is when you have a large percentage of new employees and high demand, the quality control process is not as rigorous as it should be. We'll see how the replacement is. @JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for comment! You can cover the burner with something and still be able to tell where the burner is as long as what you're covering it with isn't way larger than the burner surface... I personally never do that, anyway though. We don't have a single blemish or scratch on our stovetop anywhere yet and it still looks brand new. That being said, I'm pretty weird about cleaning (amongst other things... I live in Vegas... we're all a bunch of weirdos over here anyway). Just mentioned the towel thing because I had several people as about scratches when we did the unboxing... Still wouldn't recommend putting anything down on the burners anyways... If one is careful, it'll be all good. You're right about the digital burner control, vs. an analog dial. For sure you have more control there. @JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Ours is a 4 prong... You have lots of options there and the plug style is usually tied into. When you buy a big appliance like this, the power cable doesn't come with it, so you purchase the one that matches up to whatever you already have for a 240v on the wall.... If you are having to have an electrician run a new line, I'd err on the side of more power, just so you never have future issues.
@TheGuitarman19682 жыл бұрын
@VUGAMI This Frigidaire induction range requires a 240volt/40amp dedicated circuit. Nothing else can be on that circuit, period. That is 9,600 watts of total power consumption capability. We installed a 50 amp electrical circuit in our house, just to have a buffer, as it was the same cost as a 40 amp circuit. The 6 gauge, 3 wire or 4 wire electrical circuit reqirement will depend on the age of your home. Older homes (built before 1996) use mostly 3 wire, 240 volt electrical circuits, but modern homes and new circuit installations require 4 wire circuits, per National Electrical Code. The Frigidaire range does not come with an appliance cable. That will cost another $30+ for a 6 gauge, 50 amp, 4 wire appliance cable, which must be wired to the range during its installation. You can also "direct-wire" the range without using an appliance cable, if necessary. Just remember, if you install a 4 wire appliance cable, you must remove the grounding strap on the range's electrical connection block, so that the neutral and ground are not bonded. The 3 wire cable connection requires the grounding strap, as there is no neutral wire to connect. Failure to remove the grounding strap on a 4 wire connection will trip the circuit breaker and/or damage the range. Hopefully, this is helpful information for anyone needing to know the electrical requirements of this range. 🙂
