Yeah I don't like that people are dismissing the song and calling it clout chasing. Joey is doing exactly what Kendrick wants real emcees to do, RAP and COMPETE. The beef conditioned peoples' brains to interpret everything as disses that need to result in battles. Not everything needs to be a battle, sometimes you just want to have everyone claim they the best and then prove it on wax. He got other rappers jumping in and competing, this is great for the genre
@zorotarded178

A lot of the people dismissing it are ironically Kendrick “fans” and his paid for bots.

@@KiiDMaGiiK the track is great we expected a response tho, it's not that and the justification I get from people is Ray is a nobody compared to Joey but so is Joey to J Cole so we shouldn't expect a response from Cole too, it's not competition if that's the case.

Yep, that whole Kendrick/Drake beef, and the music industry has corrupted and made Hip Hop toxic today. What Joey Badass did was basic Hip Hop and competition! @@danielnelson3136 just making a good song when we expected a response is not confronting competition this makes me think people don't want their favourite rappers to be direct when smoke appears or they only want them to compete directly with numbers and not raps but that's just my opinion.

Joey is doing he’s supposed to do. He’s back in the booth and coming at emcees. I loved the track. Songs like this with great beats and lyrics will last the test of time. They might not get the most hype around them but this is real NY hip hop. I’m from Brooklyn and NY rappers never lost a step. Things just go in cycles and right now it’s the West Coast. Before that is was the South. NY is just quietly releasing classic after classic that the mainstream doesn’t even notice. Roc Marciano,Mach Hommy,Rome Streetz,KA,all Griselda and even Nas still. There’s more than that even but that’s just a few. Anyway love your review on this. Also love the channel. I think you’re one of the best to do it. Props to you

@@ekinse.1877 I disagree. NY is still putting out great albums. I have love for all emcees no matter where they’re from as long as they put out good music. Let me ask you though besides Kendrick Lamar who is putting out good west coast albums right now? Ab soul’s album was cool. I love Daylyt as a battle rapper and loved his Hiyu song. Ray Vaughn did his thing on the Joey diss. Besides that who is making great albums in the West? And don’t say the new Snoop and Dre album because unfortunately that album was a let down to me. Let me know. I’d love to get some new West coast albums for my collection. Side note I love a lot of older west coast artists. Blu and exile,Souls of Mischief,the Pharcyde,Del,older Dre and Snoop, MC Eiht,Pep Love and the Hieroglyphs,Dogg Pound,the list goes on.

This is why I believe it was mainly a response to Daylyt. Daylyt wasn’t that direct either. Most of the lines in the first verse seem to also be aimed at Daylyt. He says “It’s so Divine” which can also sound like Davone (Daylyt real name) then he says “Properly align this little Light of mine” = Daylyt. Joey says lightwork in the first verse. Also a Daylyt reference. If we get another song, it will be way more complex. This seems to be a slow build up. People think this is all Joey has and that’s where they are wrong.

the phrase "sorry not sorry" doesn't mean "sorry BUT..." or "sorry and..." It means - i don't regret what i did or said, not "i am sorry but you also did abc". Its not sorry and a conjuction. Its i have no regrets for what i did. I am mindblow that you got that part wrong. how can you be trusted with lyrics if you miss such a thing?

This is me hating on this song btw. I love your content Professor Skye I just respectfully disagree with your outlook on this song. To me, he is being passive aggressive and indirect about what he really wants to say. He won’t directly name who he’s shooting at and it makes him look weak. Muck Jenkins and Ray Vaughn made a huge splash responding and people with a lot of internet “influence” but also some of those in the culture were dragging this song. Now he’s really gotta respond to these guys or openly callout who he’s targeting fr. He can’t come out with another warning shot for his next song because this was not it. And I’m sorry not sorry on that note.

Ray forced Joey to pick off his new album and add a few lines with the 2nd beat sounding like it wanted to do what AB-Soul "all that" does. Why he gotta diss la homeless junkies moving like them in the elevator haha

AVAA, but i gotta disagree with you on the Joey being 2-0. Its definitely 1-1. The response tracks to his first track definitely outdo everything he was attempting the first time. Also annoyed that everyone only bringing up Daylight's (sic?) track. Don't get me wrong, it is great, but ignoring Ray Vaughn's Crash Out Heritage? The visualizer is a basic 90s music video, he matches Joey in skill and pushes back everything, and -- although this may be a bit too opinionated -- that smoke detector ding gets me every time. I guess maybe its unfair to Joey, as Vaughn got to go at him without Joey intentionally going at Vaughn first, making the second spot in a battle even stronger, but also, Joey asked people to come at him, and then responded to nobody? Maybe a few lines at Daylight (?) but I wouldnt count them as that from my -- honestly lacking and tourist -- perspective. Already did the AVAA, but have a second, it was a good video, Professor, thanks as always for the thoughts. (◍•ᴗ•◍)
