He was a Daddy to a lot of folk me included !!! What a lovely message from the kids.. He will and always will be the greatest human yes not just a racer but a human.. I look at modern sports people and think what a shame they are not humble like Joey " Sorry Mr Dunlop" He really does deserve that sort of respect..Today it means money to joey it meant more than that i am sure.. God how i wish there were more of you about today.. I was lucky to see joey in the swimign pool at the I.O.M. many years ago with his kids i did not intrude but in a funny sort of way i wish i had because i sadly never spoke to him and that was one chance i had to do so !!!!!!!!!! R.I.P. Mr Dunlop...

Seventeen years on, and I still feel like I haven't awakened from this nightmare, I can't begin to imagine how you and your family feel. I lost my Dad the day of Joey's funeral, we got the news as we were getting ready to leave the house and missed the funeral as I wouldn't leave my Mum on her own that day, sorry about that guys :( So I guess I lost both my hero's in one week, the only two hero's I ever had as a grown man. Gone but never to be forgotten. MIZPAH.

Thank you for this tribute Joey has inspired me to ride again. I never had the opportunity to met him personally because of my age. I would be honoured to meet any of the Dunlops someday. I have watched what videos I can find on here of Joey. When he races its like he passes everyone like they are standing still with his smooth riding style just pure perfection. I just wanted to pay my respects and nothing more to the greatest road racer. May his name carry on so his legacy never dies. I have his name and race number on my bike to remember. I wish the Dunlops the best and thank you again.

A truely inspiring man to us all, both on and off the track. He has been my hero all of my life, from a nipper standing in fields at the races with my dad, waiting to wave my programme as he went past, or wanting to grow my hair long like joeys, or always wanting an Arai helmet- simply because thats what joey wears, to the first time i met him at Tandragee, with me too scared to speak! Joey will always be remembered by the thousands of people he touched with his racing prowess and kind ways.

I did not get to hear of Joey until after his passing, and now I am such a fan of his. Just seeing his riding abilities and tight races he has won, such tenacity on the circuit, yet smooth and gentlemanly. Sounds like he was a lovely person off the circuit too. Such is your legacy Joey people like me are moved by your life and achievements. RIP.

I have been a joey fan from the age of 15 years and will always be I have a small motorbike done in the Castrol Honda colours and it takes pride and place in my house so joey will never be forgotten in my house
