He was. I hung out by the bus after a Slipknot/Biohazard show late '99/early '00 and got to talk to a few members of the band, but he stood out the most. I was a (drunk) high school senior, but he took the time to talk with me about the show, bands that we liked, drumming and his own influences on how he sounded in Slipknot, living in the Midwest, and signed the shirt I bought at the show. A real class act, R.I.P., Joey.

RIP Joey your music was such a big part of my childhood when I'd sit on the bus and skate and when I turned 18 and went to Iraq the first time in OIFII 04-05 and the other three tours afterwards; we blasted your music in our tank and it'd always hype us up (especially *"HERE COMES THE PAIN!"* on "Sic") and your badass double bass percussive attack-assault on "Liberate" and every other song on 1999 and Iowa. They acted as like a sound track for what we did back then and it made the boring times bearable as we played air drums along with you and sang along haha... Thanks for all the good times 🤘🏿

Down to earth hard working guy. Never seen a band member humbled enough to tour his gear like this. Much respect for him.

Joey was never my favorite memeber of Slipknot but he's an extremely talented drummer and always comes across so humble and down to earth. Nice to see a Mjolnir around his neck as well.

Joey's been listening to your music for 10 years since I was 5, my parents let me listen to it and I've been a slipknot fan ever since. You've been breathing me to play drums since I was 8 years old. I've been playing drums for 9 years. R. I. P I love you so much 🕯🤘😔

My dad used an export back in the 80 and 90s in his band. So it's pretty cool to hear that my favorite drummer used one
