Hey Joey, this is the console I sold you. I gambled with this one and bought it as faulty for £200. It was still warranty sealed when I received it and it was booting but then wouldn't switch back on when you selected reboot. Watching your video jogged my memory and I do recall having to press the power button 3 times after it had failed to reboot. Originally I replaced the liquid metal because it had all shifted to one side. I obviously did a poor job at cleaning up any drips and watching this video has helped me to understand how to clean it up. Also to use less Flux, the Flux I use is Chip Quick SMD291NL which I think you originally suggested in a comment eons ago. When I UART tested I only saw errors relating to the RAM... And we all know what sort of a job I did on that... Loads of unfortunate life stuff got in the way which stopped me going any further with it and needing to sell it and in my haste I completely forgot I'd removed one of the chips before stopping. I don't recall going near the TPM chip, but a faulty chip would stop something like the disk drive from working, as the drive is paired to the main board, the TPM would be responsible for matching up the keys needed to verify the disk drive is the correct one. I really wanted to see you fix this one, partly for my own education and partly because you'd have made a neat profit. I'm by no means a professional and have a long way to go. Sorry you had to spend so much time cleaning my mess. Check your ebay when you get a second.

Jazman! I’m glad you saw the video and hopefully managed to get some entertainment out of it 😊 It’s always a gamble buying on eBay, PLEASE don’t get disheartened in anyway, I’m assuming you’ve seen where I was at even only a few months ago 😅 You really didn’t need to do the £30 refund on eBay, that’s a very kind gesture but I’m more than aware the game is the game when it comes to buying faulty consoles. All the best fixing in the future! ❤

Tip for reballing, what I like to do, is add solder with a iron onto the chips so there is a bump then align the stencil and reball as normally, this helps so much as there is a way less chance of moving the stencil. Also you should try to put the chip on a kitchen paper towel and reball, it helps keeps everything even

@mindmending3 ай бұрын
As a hail mary I’d try software. This error could be a result of the PS5 firmware or system software incorrectly reporting a problem with its internal security mechanisms. Since the PS5 doesn't use a standard TPM 2.0 chip, this might be a misreported error from a deeper issue with the console's secure boot system, a reset and rollback could clear it, nothing to lose but time I guess
@fouzanium2 ай бұрын
Yea considering that desktop BIOS have some secure key reset option, I wonder if PS5s have some sort of security reset as well
@lshallo48642 ай бұрын
You could get the cheapest HDMI switch for testing. It will terminate HDCP and the console thinks HDCP is working while the capture card gets a clean signal. Then you don't have to disable it every time.

I’ve noticed you always add leaded solder. I’m still new, and figured because health purposes, lead free was better. Can you explain the difference?
@garyeast72592 ай бұрын
Non leaded tends to dry an crack over time. Ur right about the leaded toxicity thing but it melts at a lower temp and holds up better over time. Adding leaded to non leaded lowers the melting point of non leaded an makes it easier to get off. There is low melt that lowers temp way down but this does same but not as well.

I'd also be leaning towards bios or os firmware gone awry. Might be worth just reloading it and seeing if it comes back to life. But there's also the chance that the seller did swap the drive out first and then the liquid metal all over the board caused the shorts and killed the ram and the TPM.

HDCP prevents the capture card from capturing the video stream, it's kind of like a form of copy protection or DRM for HD video streams and it needs to be disabled for the capture card to work.
