Joey, I just want to say thank you. I’m in the midst of a breakup, and I’m having a hard time. Not only because I’ll miss having that person in my life, but also because I struggle with being alone. I went to watch a movie alone this past Saturday, and at first it felt funny, but at around 20-30 minutes in I felt at peace and engulfed in the plot. My mind wasn’t wandering, or thinking about my situation, just appreciating the movie and drawing similarities to my life. You’ve helped me tremendously, if that means anything to you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Joey. You truly have a special gift

Society of the snow. This is based on a real story. The Director interviewed all the survivors and famlies of those who didn’t survive to make it the closest to the truth. They even filmed in the cold mountains to feel what these people felt. It’s a story of hope and unity, and it shows us we have no limits as humans , we can push further than we imagine. Beautiful message. And just so you know as an uruguayan, makes me very proud. The director is spanish but he used uruguayan and argentinan actors to keep it very accurate.

Okay so i have two movies that have somehow changed the way I think about myself and life itself. The first one is ‘’Call me by your name’’: I’m italian and watching a love story taking place in environments so similar to the ones I grew up in made me appreciate more my country and its beauty, as if I had the chance to see it with the eyes of a tourist. The second one is ‘’Don’t Look Up’’: it suddenly made me realize the limits of human life.

A movie that is important to me, is the movie “Encanto”. I identified with Mirabel, ‘cause I’m a lot like her. Middle sister and the one that seems to be the odd one out, and never seems to be good enough. But the end also made me realize, that the things you went through, will turn out to bring you forward in your life, and that you’re worth is more then what others, even your family thinks, because you know you the best.

Hi Joey. Thanks for sharing your insights on so many remarkable movies that have touched our hearts and hopefully opened a few minds. As a lifelong movie lover who also enjoys going to the theatre alone (which is NOT weird!) movies can not only be entertaining but are often therapeutic and provide us with valuable life lessons - as you expressed far more eloquently than I. I particularly enjoy films based on a true story and am also looking forward to seeing The Iron Claw this weekend here in DC. Love the content that you provide on all your platforms (with some help from Frankie and The Little Lady 🐾). Much appreciation for all your great work and thanks for helping to keep the true north strong and free! 🇨🇦 ❤️

A lot of movies made me realize that life is so much bigger than just going to school, getting a job, and going to family gatherings. There was a point in my life where I was so depressed. Movies and series made me fantasize about the person I could become and the life I could have. (Of course I'm still waiting on my Hogwarts acceptance letter.😅) I cannot point to one movie that changed me, but all movies I watched where I felt emotional, changed me in some way. Shawshank Redemption and the Green Mile are two of those.

Joey a movie that i fell in love with was freedom writers such an emotional rollercoaster. I truly recommend it for people who believe that they cant escape their old life. That they cant accomplish anything due to their past or race. This movie shows that anything is possible as long as you and others gain enough trust on others and be truly kind. Even if its a small little thing like just listening cab go a long way.

Ratatouille, Coach Carter, and A Man Called Otto are definitely at the top of my list. I need to see Hacksaw Ridge. Oh my, going to the cinema alone is my absolute favourite thing to do. It's what I do when I'm stressed, happy, tired...or just want to unwind. Most recently I went to see Wonka and I was so absorbed in the story and excellence of Timothee bringing it to life that I didn't even forgot there were other people in the room (Your poem on Wonka was brilliant by the way). Funny thing though, I did one of these solo adventures one time to see Dog (st. Channing Tatum) and I so happened to be alone in that room. The story was so difficult that I found myself sobbing...it did help that there was no one else in the the room. Overall, it's an experience I wouldn't exchange for anything...
