I'm running the same two. However, I have rp3+, switch lite, and a steamdeck which don't get used much nowadays. I just got the miyoo a week ago, and I'm still trying to decide if I'm even going to use it at all. also, I'm now using my phone for gaming too, so that's even more competition for the miyoo. But I'll give it a fair try. Edit:forgot to add that if a steamdeck mini is ever released, that will replace everything I own. (Or valve actually makes a holo iso, then I would just buy a small x86 device)

To this day, the PSPgo is still my favorite emulator player. Its not beatable for the price and what it offers. For $120, its tiny, has the coolest mechanism snap out feature, can actually play PSP perfectly..., great for anything under n64 (sadly doesn't handle n64) but handles the entire PS1 library perfectly.

I loved the psp go idea, but unfortunately couldn't love the psp go itself. The d-pad hurts my thumb, I don't know why but it's the most uncomfortable handheld I've ever used. I ended up selling it and getting a vita instead 😢

Damn I wish I had been aware of that. I just got the rg35 and it's my first and overall I'm pretty happy with it. But I would be completely satisfied with what you just described and would rather have gotten a known entity device if ya get me... PSP vs a raspberry pi device? It's not even a question ya know. Like in longevity I don't expect a lot out of the anbernic. And when it does corrupt or whatever I have a couple friends I can go to but I wouldn't dream of (or expect to be able to really) sending it back for warranty or maintenance. The price difference is negligible for those specific differences. The brand confidence alone is worth it. And I'm sure on the things I'm playing it out performs the anbernic anyway. It'll play PS1 and DC surprisingly well but that's exactly where I top out anyway. Neither have N64 so that is negligible as well. Yeah first twinge of regret I've had since I bought the anbernic. And not really regret just... Didn't know what I didn't know.

@@joeydurant6267 Sadly, I have had nothing but massive headaches and problems with my RG35xxH. I am ready to just resell it. I ran into stock os save file issues, Kuriki is nearly unusable on it, the updated Stock OS fixed a lot and then introduced massive nasty green screen issues for some people, and then hey guess what, your stock OS save files are now gone if you update to the new firmware upgrade of the stock version. Running Knulli right now, and the RG35xxH boots into Knulli when it wants to, and then reverts back to Kurikis stock experience for no reason, not always but I dread rebooting and watching it not load into Knulli's way nicer OS look. I literally do not see anywhere in the menus to get Knulli to direct the system to point to where my roms are located. It doesnt read them on the second SD card that has all my roms. So like, its been one of the worst experiences. I had no issues on my 405v, no issues on my RP3+ and a few other devices. Soon as I got this RG35xxH, its one thing after another and I am ready to film a video of me taking a hammer to it and just ending the stress by smashing it up in 4k slo mo :D As for the PSPGo, its small yes, but its still the best overall experience for the older retro systems, NES, SNES, Sega, PS1. They run flawlessly and I mean...it handles regular PSP games perfectly. I just really like the design, a lot of people dislike it but I don't really understand why. I get its small but thats the point. Also the flip out CLICK mechanism is the most satisfying in any hand held. I enjoyed my Flip 2. I enjoyed my 3DS with an R4. But all of them pale to the pocket friendly experience of the PSPGO and also...when you play it and show it to others people go OMGGG. Its worth it just for that too.

Highlights of this video for me are, I fully agree with you on the PSP, PS Vita, and RG351P. The PSP is basically obsolete at this point. The only thing driving people towards a PSP is nostalgia. The PS Vita, I love it. It's one of the greatest Handhelds of all time. To bad I rarely ever play with it. The RG351P is one my main Handhelds I always enjoy pulling this one out for GBA and surprisingly low-end PSP Emulation. It's the Ultimate GBA and it's the turning point from me going from hating to loving Anbernic.

AYN Odin 2 is King. It's just big enough, it powers everything you throw at it and it's limited by software and not by hardware. It's "Just Right" all around. Unless you're a KZbin content creator that needs content, you really don't need anything else. Second would be Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. This is the perfect "pocketable" handheld that, short of switch emulation, pretty much can play what Odin 2 can. I'm okay with it's form factor, but the grip makes it better.

Below is my collection: Retroid Pocket Flip (16bitUS) R36S (yeah I know but I like it) RGB30 (yellow, love the 1x1 screen and horizontal form) Miyoo mini (yellow, love pocketability and works great for me) Miyoo mini + (DMG, great buttons WiFi and ergonomics, great for collection) RG35XX H (one of my daily driver handhelds love it) Steamdeck OLED (my current all in one device) RG35XXSP - on its way can’t wait All in all these things can get expensive but periodically I do receive gift cards from family and friends and I’ve bought most of my devices that way. But I enjoy it as a hobby.

I use the ROG Ally for more modern titles, Retroid Pocket 3+ Metal Edition, which thankfully doesn't have the issue you had with it cutting you - I hold it the same way as you and do not get cut, I've worked in a factory operating on metal and the quality varies tremendously on metal products. I was really late on the game but I just got a purple Miyoo Mini+ and am blown away, it lives in my pocket for now.

My PSP was my commute buddy. I have lots of memories, though I don't think of it as nostalgia. My Peacewalker Green is possibly my favorite (second psp, cuz I wanted the color and update).I have way more DS nostalgia, but my PSP was the work horse. I'm sad it's not for you and hasn't been rehomed. Of course, you have access to any handheld you want and many play 'em all emulation, so makes sense that you don't really need it, besides when relevant news handheld comparisons.

I love these kind of videos. Actually, PSP as well as the PS Vita still have a strong homebrew community, quite a few Android games have been ported to the Vita. There are developers still putting cfw on the PSP. Obviously, that's not mainstream. I'm trying to get some Gametech Egg Grips for my 3DS. The problem with the Vita is the best thing it does is play Vita games so if you don't like the library you won't play it much, Vita3K is just not there yet. One thing about the Switch even the Lite, I just don't like the hardware; games are solid. I miss the uniqueness of the Trimui Model S. I like the 353P & RG ARC but I'd rather have an updated Pocketgo S30. I kept hit the power button on the 353P; I do agree that they need to update the chip. RP4P feels like the Switch Lite except they needed to widen it a little bit more which made it feel like I could grip it like I wanted. If the GPD Win 4 had the Ayn Loki controls, I'd be in heaven. Those buttons can be a bit troubling after long play. The Aya Neo Slide is nice but Aya made it. I hope to play that Odin 2 mini one day even if I'm not a big Android fan.

Definitely cool to see what you have! I've started following the retro handheld community around the end of 2023 and I bought the RG35XX H last month as my first device! Now I'm thinking if I should get the RG405M or RP4 Pro since I kind of want to try until PS2 games. It's kind of sad that Anbernic doesn't do anything similar to the RG405M anymore since I would love something similar to that but a bit more powerful. Odin 2 Mini might also be something I will look out for with that power for its size, but sadly it's out of my budget now, maybe in a year's time

My list is FAR shorter. So here we go: 1st. GBA SP metallic silver. I bought myself and my wife one so we could link cable Mario Kart 2nd. AtGames Ultimate Portable Game Player (aka AtGames portable Genesis). The last revision, but here’s why I got it and why I love it. Since it was released, I always wanted a Nomad. This is the closest to that I could get, and fits in my pocket. Combined with the Neto Bootloader, fixes the sound, helps with save issues. It’s great 3rd. That cheap handheld from Giant Tiger that took an SD cards. NES emulation was good, but anything else was garbage. 4th. It was a gift, but a lesser handheld from Giant Tiger (I broke the first one) 5th. Switch, the revision before the lite (the better battery one) it’s the kids really but it’s awesome being dockable 6th. Switch lite. So the kids can play on the road together

Steam Deck OLED for me. Everything else I have is just a side quest for the SD OLED. The Windows/Linux complaints just don't make sense to me. But then again, my Steam account is legally old enough to vote, so I have no shortage of titles that work on it. My Windows 'handheld' is a GPD Win Max 2, that I can justify because it's also a laptop. Otherwise, my Ayn Odin 2 is cool, but I prefer playing on Deck because it's more comfortable to play on.

And being in the hobby since very little time, it was kind of weird to hear how anbernic quality went down... But I think I partly understand why this is, in this period the market wants fairly capable devices for very cheap (I think the old ones like rg280v or rg351p were surely more costly than the current xx line, for instance... Idk if its because the shoulder buttons are technically higher up? I could be crazy. It's nice, tiny, and very discreet to play on. Fits into my 15 minute gaming bursts. Odin 2 is always sitting around waiting for GC and PS2. The RP4 was a coffee table device, but the standby time is awful. I loved the dpad up top for GBA but like the 35XX-H it just didn't do it for me. I have a soft spot for the A30 now with custom firmware. If Onion or an Onion-type OS comes out, I can see myself replacing the Miyoo Mini with it. It's nice to play Ocarina of Time on a tiny device

Teal GBC is what I have, still my original. I have glacier GBA. My DS isn't my original, cuz I had the silver fat, gave that to family when I got the lite. Oddly, I forget what color DS light, I have, I intend to rectify that soon.

I need some suggestions/help. SO I have a modded vita, but I can't really play it becasue the game cartridge is loose or malfunctioning because it'll sporadically give me an error that the memory was removed, even though it hasnt. How can I get the games off the sd2vita: what folder's are they in? What emulator is best to play the files on? I have an odyn 2 max and rp4 pro, so they should be able to handle it...

If your ps vita is modded you can play a number of android games that have been ported to the vita. It is still one of my favorite handhelds.

I've been playing a lot of NES and SNES on my Trimui Smart Pro and the games constantly hitch and stutter. I put the FPS counter on and it doesn't drop. Tried turning WiFi Off. Turned CPU performance on with FN to the right. I'm stumped Joey. Great channel btw!

Great video, Joey! If you got a sec, i wanted to ask, you mentioned on the RP4, it isnt comfortable and the D-pad is not in the right spot. But you said we should all get the RP2S. Is the difference in ergonomics that stark? Do you think RP2S is comfortable in comparison? Why do you feel RP4 D-pad is placed incorrectly? Thanks man, i know that was a loaded question, haha 🍻🤘🏼🔥💪🏼
@JoeysRetroHandhelds
@JoeysRetroHandhelds 3 ай бұрын
Yeah it's pretty different, way different sized devices and shells and comfort. I consider the 2S comfortable yep. Dpad is placed incorrectly on the RP4PRO because of how powerful it is, you use the sticks more than the dpad and sticks bottom cramp your thumb.

That's a massive collection Joey I had the same GBC teal and the indigo GBA I miss them I thought about rebuying those gameboys but I'm spoiled by the rechargeable batteries of today and the devices with the bright screens and nowadays the prices of the cartridges is ridiculous I love Pokemon but I'm not going for these stores jacking up the prices I'll just stick with these emulators haha I have 12 of them myself mostly the cheaper 100 and below devices most are from Anbernic one day I'd like to get a higher end device to play everything like my favorite modern day game RDR2 and PS2 stuff as well but I'm not a expert on what's good for that so I'm not in a rush to drop alot of money if I'm not sure but anyway fun video I'm team Charmander myself haha.
