Against all odds?? Are you kidding? Cruyff and Ajax had already won the European cup 3 times on the trot and were on top of the world when Cruyff left for Barca. They were expected to do well at the world cup and did. The jewel in the crown was Cruyff and they were hot favourites going into the final against a very strong German team playing at home. Arrogance and scoring too early, which led them to believe they'd already won it, played a part in them losing.
