I lived in uganda and had my early education in soroti uganda. There used to be competitions in traditional music the iteso ,langis and the kumam and all along I had the impression that the iteso produced better music but after listening to the lukembe Acholi music i now think otherwise the guys are just fantastic somebody should help market their music great talent kosgey peter sawe kenya

This is so pure, natural and divine! Absolutely transcendent. It is the essence of all that is the spirit of music. I love these guys.

Despite the melanchonic tone and hopelessness expressed in this song, the community still has hope in God's intervention in ending the suffering they endured in the squalid conditions of the IDP Camps. The portrayal of school children in the video is a sign of hope for the future generation. Nostalgia for the good old days also mean the community still hopes for a better futer. Oh God, I love this song! I love Acholi!

The concept of rhythm and dance is not easy to bring out but Acholi's for million of years have it in blood and have effectively used all instruments effectively to compose musics and dances and this has been very vivid in her people's courage, talent and economy. To be in the middle of a war is not weakness but evidence of superiority, strength and civilization.

Exactly. Where the musicians play is right behind the old church that is there. When we explained that we are interessted in Acholi music and that we wanted to record some lukeme orchestras, we were given permission to spend the night there. The news that two white men wantet to record Acholi music spreaded rapidly and early on the next morning many groups from all around the area came to perform their songs. I think that using the lukeme music to express problemes, social issues but also love and everything that matters is a great and very artistic way of participation in society and dealing with history. Besids I will never forget the great hospitality we experienced there. People from this part of Uganda are so sincere and authentic.
