Picture the movie scene. A teenage boy has a burning passion for dance which isn't understood by anyone else around him. After an intensely angry arguement between the boy and his father, in which the lines 'just because you sold out your dreams, doesn't mean you get to screw mine too' and 'you walk out that door and you ain't coming back in', are exchanged, the boy runs out into the night. He finds an abandoned basketball court, and, in a moment of pure passion and anger, bursts into an impromptu but strangely professional 'frustration dance' as '80s style Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' plays in the background. It's raining heavily, but the rain only adds to the drama. The song quietens as it nears the end, and the character, feeling hurt but simultaneously rejuvenated by the dance, walks off the court. He reminds himself that tomorrow is another day, and no matter what anyone says, he will pursue his dance passion. Fin. Edit: Thanks for the comments, you legends. To those who are telling me my movie scenario isn't original. I know this, and tbh, that's kind of the point. The song is so achingly reminiscent of 80s high school/ dance movies and musicals, particularly those frustration dance scenes from the likes of Footloose or HSM3, that I was merely presenting an almost parodic version to highlight how ridiculously perfect this song would be in such a scene. Also, to those people saying I'm a genius and should become a movie writer, you should probably set your standards a little higher 😂 Only joking, your belief in me, whilst a bit overreaching, is touching, nonetheless ❤

Oh man, I remember when I was just seventeen back in the summer of '85, and I was in love with this girl. So I got the courage to ask her if she would go out with me and see Green Day In concert. We were on our way to the show when my Pontiac Fiero broke down. Sad to say we didn't make it to the show, but there happened to be a beautiful sunset that night, and we started singing together, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams was our favorite Green Day song. Long story short, we got married, and yes, we danced to this song in our wedding. And yes, we did get to see Green Day a few years later, but we never heard anything about them after that. Does anyone know if Green Day are still releasing new music or touring?
@BitterTongues847 жыл бұрын
Who could even forget summer of '85?! This tune was plastered all over the radio. It must've appeared on Casey Kasem's Top 40 for 4 or 5 months straight that year. Such a shame they kind of fell off the face of the planet after their only other hit, synth-pop song, "World vs. World", just a mere 3.5 or so years later. As far as still releasing music, or touring, I don't think anyone has even mentioned their name in almost 30 years to be quite honest. Their singer/guitarist Billie did a collaboration with Frank Astley in Spring of '88, and also wrote and produced some tunes for The Go-Go's that same year... but he hasn't really been involved in much since then. Their bassist, Mike, did some collaborations with Phil Collins and was the touring bassist for Fine Young Cannibals for spring of '89, and later went on to open a café in California. Happened to see that he opened a Twitter account with some obnoxiously-long hash-tags to his posts, but has been on a hiatus from social media the past few years. Their drummer, I believe his name was Frank, was a founding member of some obscure goth-rock band called, "Cane and the Stubborn Stains", but due to his cocaine addiction and self-prostitution scandals, he was forced to leave the band in early 1991 after their music video for "Fun Center" was released. He did release a solo song by the name of, "Like A Rat Does Cheese", a few years later, but it hardly sold, since it was only released on 8-track. Shame to know that we'll likely never hear from these boys of '80s pop ever again, but one can only hope for a reunion show. Green Day, I hope you somehow see this message and consider getting back together for some new material, or at least a live performance of this song, one last time. Long live the synthesizer..................

This is so damn good, i'm very pleased with it appearing in my recommended! and holyyyyy shit the instruments are so good and smooth in a way that i can not describe without jumbling up my words. Great job my dude, it sure sounds like something that would play during a party scene in a movie from the 80's.

Man. I remember making a cassette tape of this and wearing out in the stereo if my GTO. I would cruise around to the local arcades and just hang out. I remember this girl who used to play the Mrs. Pac Man game. She always used to chew bubblegum and I swear she was the biggest Green Day fan. She even at the famous 1983 Madisoc Square Garden show. I think her name was Darla. I had the biggest crush tape and I always fantasized about getting her into my GTO and blasting the cassette with her. I never got the courage though. Now she's married to some douche she doesn't even like. Oh well. At least I have the memories.
