@@Jkdiisisisi in this walk with Christ we are told to imitate Him and not conform to the ways of the world (as we my brother in Christ, are not of this world), we can only be Christlike if we allow Him to take chief precedent in all manner of things and humble ourselves and let Him increase in our lives; likewise we decrease in-self by putting the old-man to death, our old ways of thinking, pride, immoral living, worldly passions and desires. When we allow Christ to increase, we start to love the things that He loves, and hate the things that He hates. We are led by the Spirit and move in ways that lead us to Christ and shun things that push us away from Him. Our chief concern is no longer one of selfish intent focusing on ourselves but rather we are concerned about the things and concerns of God. We no longer put the things of this world above God but God becomes our chief priority. It is then, that we become true Christians and followers of Christ. Hence, "He must increase, but I must decrease."

@@The_Sphe Christ must take centre stage in our lives. As Christians we are to be like Him. In order to be like Him, He must increase. As we allow Christ to abound in our lives our focus shifts from self to Christ, this is the decrease in self that we are talking about. We no longer care about the things of this world, (i.e. worldly passions and corrupt desires) we no longer seek our own vain glory, but we seek to glorify Christ, by our actions in word and in deed. We become Christlike as He increases, and we decrease by putting to death our self-seeking attitude.
