BIO: Hello, my name is Joshua. I'm from the United States of America. I have 3 kids, a wife, and a golden retriever. I have been teaching English for over 20+ years to adults and kids from around the world. I have taught IELTS/TOEFL test prep, business English, English for academic purposes, and conversational English. Some of my favorite hobbies are reading, writing, soccer, biblical archeology, traveling, and languages.

I believe language is learned best by immersing yourself in it. You must use the language in all of its forms--writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Think of language like an iceberg. Every encounter with the language is growing the iceberg. You can only see a small piece of the iceberg sticking up out of the water at first. Keep practicing and the ice will soon become a huge mountain floating on the sea for all to see! Currently, I have my Master of Education in TESOL and a Masters of Divinity. My certifications include TESL/TOFEL; Language Acquisition Advisor; Charter School License (ESL/State of Indiana). I have also administered the TOEFL and IELTS exams. Finally, I have taught ESL for over 20 years and served as an academic director at one of the largest English as second language providers in the world.

Most scholars agree that the Peshitta is a translation from Greek into Aramaic. However, it is almost certain that the original gospels came from an Aramaic oral tradition at the very least. When I say the oral tradition of the gospels, I am mostly referring to the synoptics. The gospel of John, especially the prologue, appears to be very Greek in origin and intent linguistically. Yet, the Aramaic elements remain. Perhaps one day we will find an Aramaic gospel that predates the greek, but this is currently not the case. Aramaic knowledge does provide a hermeneutic key that can unlock many things obscured over time. I am happy to see more and more content like this as it encourages further investigation and dialogue.
