The thing with Peter/the disciples going back to fishing is that Jesus had called them to follow him and to drop their nets and he would make them fishers of men. After He died and Peter denied Christ, and was defeated and discouraged, Peter went back to his old way of life. That's why Jesus had to reinstate Him and ask him a seemingly harsh question, "Do you love me?"
