It's cool seeing he was a very technique, no frills, no effects kinda guy early on. That's how I was for the first several years playing bass. Now I'm a total pedal and gear nerd. I think once you become really good at fundamentally playing your instrument, you can utilize effects and pedals and much better because you can actually play your instrument and understand it, and the effects enhance your playing and inspire new levels of creativity, rather than mask deficiencies
@deesunn33068 жыл бұрын
Yeah i totally agree. I only used one effect for my first 10-15 years of playing and that was my trusty wah (thats still on my board today). After awhile u get burned out and quit listening to the geezers who always told ya u dont need no stinking effects.
@joelglanton65312 жыл бұрын

When it was first released I got to listen to it alot in the portable cd player i had at the time. I started learning a few parts that interested me from that album. I came to read an online tab for Day of Baphomets, but did not focus on learning it of course. All I knew was that I had a fender jazz with strings on it. I learned a lot of Stadium Arcadium and various other rock tune riffs and parts and listened to Jazz.

@joelglanton65312 жыл бұрын
There were a lot of really good Squiers in the '80s, I'm pretty sure some of them were made in Japan. His band mate from The Mars Volta, Omar Rodriguez, used to play an '80s, lefty Squier Jazzmaster for a time when he was in At the Drive-In. It was only in the '90s at some point that the quality and price of Squier instruments was driven down so drastically, and then with the Classic Series and some other models they had an increase in quality again in the 2010s. Even at their low point, they had some real gems slip through the cracks- around 2005 or so I bought a Squier Affinity series Precision bass off of someone for like $50 bucks, and it was made out of agathis I think and had really bad frets, tuners, and electronics but after I changed all of those, it was my favorite P bass that I've ever had, even with the original bridge and pickups.

@jerry424079 жыл бұрын
6672rock I think the other guitarists name is Chris Arvan.
@Jeff-o-Lee8 жыл бұрын
+6672rock Paul Gilbert quit Racer X in '89. I think it had something to do with the other guys wanting to fire Jeff Martin. Paul's replacement, Chris Arvin was kind of weird. During this time, I was attending B.I.T. @ Musicians Institute and and Chris came in to do a couple open counseling session. He would never play. I'm assuming he was intimidated or something. Paul use to have open counseling a couple times a week and would work with students and show what he was working on. By this time, Paul formed Mr. Big and Racer X with the new singer dwindled because Racer X was pretty much Paul's band.
@iganpparamarta88135 жыл бұрын
@@Jeff-o-Lee I like Chris Arvin take on Paul's solo for this song. It's more hair metal style solo than of shred metal. It's good to see him playing his style. Paul's solo is beast though.
