It’s weird. I watch this and I still can’t figure out what Sara was thinking. Was this out of love? Pity? If the season was going to end the way it did, why do this at all? As I previously mentioned, yes this was beautiful but now I objectively see how AWKWARD it was as well.

She loves him, and I think they were traumatized by what had happened before, and maybe she figured this was her only chance with him. I think she knew deep down inside, he was not going to leave Violet. When all is said and done, John means well, but he’s weak

@@tranurse I don’t think that’s true. It’s an insult to his character frankly. If he was weak he wouldn’t have spoken to her the way he did at the engagement party (which was deserved IMO) and if he was weak, he’d have been violet’s puppy. Violet did not want him around Sara and he did not GAF. He demanded Sara give him an answer over the phone and when she wouldn’t he said he’d make a decision for both of them. A weak man doesn’t do that. He was sick of her shit by the end. Do I wish he would have marched right over and broke off his engagement? Yes but now that I think back, it doesn’t guarantee Sara will want him. So then what, john is just left single? He’s not playing that game again.

Sara always felt something for John. Remember they traveled in the same circles. She knew he never looked at her that way and she didnt like how he lived his life. He is the only one who could tempt her into following tradition to marry and have babies. Sara wants a life of equality and have independence. When she came so close to losing John that night it made all the walls she had built up come crumbling down. It wasn't pity! Sara loves John as much as he loves her. When he came to her after finding out Violet was pregnant you could see the light and happiness in Sara's eyes. When John told her you can see the heartbreak for a little bit, but then you can see the acceptance and maybe a little relife. Sara knew she didn't want to confirm to the traditional woman's role in that time. Loving John Moore made her think about it. John wasn't weak but he was still trapped by those traditional ways he was raised with. He wanted children as much as Sara wanted independence. Sara smiled when they hugged goodbye because she knew this was the only way they could have what they wanted. What bugs me is Sara was right about Violet. No matter how many kids they have, Violet is not right for John and he won't be happy with her.

@@lelandblanca1882 you kind of contradict yourself. Yes I agree john is the one person Sara would stop and consider ‘yes I would marry this man and have his children’ but if she thought that way, why would she be relieved when she didn’t have to? If after everything, Sara loved her independence and job more than john, that’s not love. John loved Sara enough to give up The ideas he has in his head about traditional families because like he said to Sara ‘I want you’. He wanted Sara and if wanting Sara meant no kids, possibly no marriage, Well that’s what john was going to do. So no john didn’t get what he wanted, he just got a trapped marriage and probably picked up drinking again, Wishing violet’s Baby was Sara’s.
