Some people don't watch before make comments! Is an special version for a tv show, "out of character" he is not portraying the character in a play! Now everyone think they are musical theatre experts!!! Who has a carrer of 20 years in musical theatre?

I share the opinion of most commentators - JB not good for Jean Valjean. Most actors I've cherished in that role...well, the range of their singing voice was different. It doesn't fit John, brilliant and lovely and talented as he is. As for this on-stage performance...who's the guy singing the part of Marius? He looks like Billy Boyd...

I love barrowman into pieces... but worse Jean Valjean ever. Maybe it's his persona, but I can't imagine it. He would make a better Innkeeper than Jean Val Jean. Heck he would make a better eponine than Jean Val Jean. Even when sensitive and gentle he is just too damn jaunty and humorous. I can't imagine that character as funny, or having a wealth of good humor. Is anyone else excited about Hugh Jackman as Valjean? He also is charming , but maybe less adept at hiding the angst, transparent.

I love John Barrowman but this whole rendition has no soul. It's just a bunch of singers who separately scream out their individual parts! It's a shame but this performance is really bad!
