I have never heard John Barrowman sing without music before. He truly has a wonderful voice.

And he's singing for the most part acapella during this song. My mother the music teacher always told me that those who can sing this way are the truly gifted artists.

Barrowman's version sounds great, but my favorite version will forever be John McDermott's. He starts with a slight a cappella too, and then the music starts... I also love the fact he uses part of the original, Scottish-accented lyrics. Graeme E. Pearson is great too... native from Edinburgh, and sings this with nothing but a solo guitar.

John Barrowman is also a crook. Under the name Anderson Page, he has a sophisticated way of luring big money from women on social media. Creativity does not provide him with a comfortable life!

@@user-tv2px6oh7w You do know that there are crooks posing as celibrities and making fake Instagram and Twitter accounts? You should report them if you see them. How can you believe this is the real John Barrowman is beyond me. It happens to everyone. I once got followed by a fake Hugh Jackman.

It's so rare to hear a version of this song which acknowledges the tragedy of the lyrics (Takin' the low road is returning to your clan home after death). Despite the anglicised words, this is just gorgeous.
@TakersMissy Жыл бұрын
@morag mckay I never knew about the tragic message of the song - i.e., what takin' the low road really meant. Thank you for telling us that; much respect to a poignant song sung so well by John Barrowman.

@@TakersMissy He doesn't sing the saddest line of the song. I paraphrase:"The broken hearted know that there is no second spring." The soldier is dead and love is over for the living. The death of the soldier and the death of love, and neither can be assuaged by the beauty of Scotland.

Best things about Scotland: * Irn-Bru * Fish & Chips * Deep Fried Pizzas * Scottish Highlands * Celtic FC * Karen Gillan * John Barrowman God, I love this song !!! I met John Barrowman at Govan in 2014 & I just want to say that he is genuinely the most down to earth loving human being !!! ♥️ He put his arm round me after I said it was an honour to meet Captain Jack Harkness in person. I don't care if he likes men. That's his life & that's who he is. I love the guy !!! ♥️ I hope to meet him again one day & get another picture with him 💯
