Jack served everyday of the Pacific war on the 1st Marine division.O was lucky enough to be in Bravo 1/1.Thats when men were men.

My father in law, William Sexton was in the Marine Corps and was a drinking buddy of John Basilone's. He called Basilone, "Johnnie Basilone. He told me that Johnnie was a "wild man". Basilone was a great Marine, so was my father in law. He was a China Marine. I was in the Marine Corps for 16 years. Was an attack pilot- exciting.

GySgt Basilone is an engraved living portrait inside every Marine. GySgt is the highest rank that I held at retirement. Naturally I believe it is the best rank. It would have been good to go farther but I’m satisfied with my experience. Marine Corps history has been my history since boot camp. I remain proud to be a part of the Marine Corps history. John Basilone and Dan Daily were my favorite heroes after I learned about them. I think about how the old breed must have been and what if some of my experiences were anywhere similar. They say only the names change, but The faces and the Corps remain the same.

I love basilone, you cant help but admire him, he had a great personality, he was a hustler and he was funny he had a boxing record of knocking out everyone he fought, check out the pictures of him when he turns his piss cutter sideways as he did everytime he was hammered, he knew how to make men laugh but was humble on his tours and i wish they could have also known the john basilone before the marines, when he went into the marines he had a much different mindset, because he knew what was ahead he was a true hero who stood up leaving himself exposed ripping marines frozen with fear on the beach, and when you hear his story from start to finish meaning from alpha to omega you will enjoy it and you will laugh i suggest the channel the fat electrician he just did a john basilone episode and it was golden please check it out
