God can give that to you, and that's fine, it is biblical to seek the gifts, but make sure your heart is right before the Lord and your understanding of the doctrine. You also want to be in a place where you can handle his spirit or the gifts that he gives you, and God also wants to trust you with the gift. I would not give the gift of evangelism to someone who could not proclaim the gospel with love and humility and truth.

So good John. I have to agree with the different types of speaking in tongues. The reason why I agree is because I've got the Gift of Interpretation. I've noticed when I'm praying in Tongues, Privately, it's very close and intimate, where I'm glorifying him as well as speaking wise counsel with certain things. However, Publicly, it's similar yet different where I'm glorifying him as well seeking unity and uplifting the Church as well. When I hear other people around me Praying in Tongues they're doing something similar as well. Since I can understand people around me, I rely on the Holy Spirit if I should tell them what they said in Tongues cause they don't understand what they said. I've noticed the times when the Holy Spirit mostly wants me to tell them, what they said is it's when they've said something something Prophetic and/or a Word of Knowledge.

Very deep, very amazing, scriptural based message. I thank God that all us believers can go deeper and spiritually and not remain in the elementary things. I have shared this. Thank you for breaking this down so wonderfully! God bless this ministry. I started thanking God because one time when I was driving on the highway, I got the urge to pray in tongues so I did. Not even a min or two later, traffic started building up heavy. I didn’t know why. I then passed an accident. Broken glass were everywhere, ambulance, and it appeared to be a bad accident. I felt the presence of God heavy and realized I was interceding for the person/people in that accident. I prayed in English and tongues, tears streaming down my face and asked the Lord to bring the person to repentance, I asked the Lord for a miracle, and then I continued to pray in tongues. The enemy doesn’t want the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation because he wants us believers to be bound and feel helpless, which is only his trap to try and get us to turn away from God. But the power of God is the strongest and greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. He gave us power to live right and walk according to His standards. The fruits of joy, love, peace are ours. Praise be to the Lord Jesus, the Alpha and Omega. Many people still don’t believe in that gift but we cannot deny what’s written in the Bible. We can believe the sky is yellow, but if the sky is blue, it doesn’t matter what we say, the truth is that it’s blue. The truth of the Bible is truth and God is very real. This message came just when I was speaking to the Lord about wanting to go deeper. Blessings

Very persuasive argument for tongues for unbelievers (a language they understand) and tongues subject to interpretation. However, in the original Greek same word “glossa” is used for both; so how would the original audience have understood the distinction? So this fine explanation is not scripturally supported. For the record, I do speak in tongues (especially in prayer and praise), but no longer do so in public since I cannot interpret and have never found an interpreter. God bless!
@skyeprophet35642 жыл бұрын
Why don't you pray for the power to interpret? 1 Cor 14:13 - If God prompts you to speak out in tongues and gives you the opportunity, he will also give you the ability to interpret according to your faith. God could surprise you... let him lead you in this and put it to him and see what he shows you.

Speaking in tongues is so underestimated!!! From my personal experiences, speaking in tongues has helped me fight spiritual battles, turn a room's hateful atmosphere to calm (in moments), overturn Satan's plans in front of my eyes... and so much more! There's A reason why this is called "talking mysteries with God , by the Holy Spirit" --> Satan has no influence on this mode of prayer. It demolishes the invisible strongholds of the devil.

Fruits are the result of a process happened to the root and other parts of a tree. Speaking in tongue is never mentioned as a sign of righteousness or moral level. Contrary to that, the Bible encourages people to BUILD themselves by speaking in tongue. That means speaking in tongue are for people who believe they need to build themselves so they can bear fruits. If anyone can bear fruits without speaking in tongue, they might not need to. But they have to be sure that what they call as "fruits" are also what God really calls as fruits. Cause there's no do-over in the judgement day.

5:40: Question: In Acts 2:13, when some said "They're drunk with wine," is that not like saying that someone speaking in tongues for a sign sounds out of their mind/mentally impaired? I agree with other points, like v. 2 saying "no one understands him," which is definitely contradictory to tongues for a sign, because it can't be a sign if no one recognizes it as an earthly language, therefore it must be a heavenly language, but on this point about vv. 22-23 I don't think he makes a strong argument for a distinction.

I believe and can speak in tongues but they either get overemphasized or under in the church..Either people put so much emphasis on it that they completely disregard my salvation and acceptance of Christ as sufficient or they don't believe in it at all. Just so want to be able to point and say “this here”. But I’m not quite there yet.

Scripture clearly says when in church only 2-3 people are to speak in tongues and then you MUST interpret otherwise you are to NOT speak in tongues, How many churches do that ?? I have never been to one.

I am baptised in the Holy Spirit, have spoken in tongues and prophecied. Yet, this teaching is not supported by any of the apostle's teaching. Perhaps the point Paul is making about, if everybody is speaking in tongues in a meeting and an unbeliever comes in, they will think you are mad' because it would sound just as a lot of incoherent babble. As it indeed does, without an interpretation. Those who speak in tongues in church might be edifying themselves but no one else. And Paul is saying, the purpose of church is to build one another up in the knowledge of Christ. In the modern church, people go to get edified/built up. Instead of going to give edification and building up. So, there may be four defined aspects to tongues, they are the same tongues and not four diffetent ones.

Can I ask though just wanting some clarification. As some say it’s not that they’re speaking a foreign language it’s that the person is hearing a foreign language. If the person was speaking fluent French could anyone potentially understanding French hear it too. Or were they speaking a heavenly language and the individual was hearing French, as the prayer may have been directed towards them. Just trying to understand. Thanks

The word says Speak With Tongues. Not speak in tongues. There's one 1 tongues in the bible they are talking about. It was the gift of speaking a foreign, known language no one has studied. This was used for the purpose of reaching the nation's with the gospel in there language. The way tongues are presented in the pentacostal and charismatic is actually a mockery to the true gift the holy spirit gave. This is false doctrine. There's only 1 tongues the bible never says there's more than 1 and definitely not 4 pf them. It's misinterpreting scripture. Sad!

@@michaelray5826 if God is still speaking to us outside of scripture today through dreams, visions, or hearing from Him audibly. Then that should be just as authoratative as scripture itself. What God speaks is true and if I come to you saying God has told me "this" and "that". Then you would have to take my word for it, because it came from God. But in Hebrews 1:1 it shows God speaks to us through His son Jesus. Meaning scripture is how God speaks to us today. @@paulk5311 I wish you all spoke with tongues but rather you prophesy. Is the whole scripture. Why would paul say that? The book of Acts is clear as to the languages that were Spoken and Heard. The gift of tongues has ceased because there's no use for them now. It was for a time and season and purpose. The tongue is the word of God. The tongue of interpretation. Five words of wisdom is better than ten thousands words of a unknown tongue. For the wisdom of God saith the blood of all the prophets shall be required for that generation. Praying in the Holy Ghost is reading and studying the word of God. Life and death is in the tongue. The word of God. Live by the sword die by the sword. Is not my word like as fire? Or a hammer that breaketh the rock to pieces. The rock is the word. God is my rock. False Teaching. Our Experience is not higher than the Word of God. 1 Corinthians 13 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
