They're all stunning. Just finished developing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples culture awareness training program for my dear colleagues. I've never worked on anything like it. We even had Dan Sultan come and sing at our office in 2019 as part of NAIDOC week in which I also participated in a Welcome to Country which could well be the most amazing experience of my life. Had an Aboriginal partner for a while, I'm always humbled and amazed at this incredible culture. I love the whole performance but love Missy Higgins here, she really flies and bare foot too which is awesome. I acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land Australia. I acknowledge and pay my deepest respects to their beliefs, customs, kinship, stewardship of the lands, waterways, skies, flora and fauna in which they lived, played, learnt and thrived.

Everytime I hear this song I'm taken back to King George Square here in Brissie in the mid 90's for a save the ABC rally. Uncle Kev came and led us all in this song. Along with that was the introduction of Regurgitator by Helen Razor which she finished with "no fucking stage diving" made me proud to be an Aussie, something I feel less and less nowadays.

Love the original and the version performed by the song writers, Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly, at Gough's funeral... Love the Waifs' version with Clare Bowditch and John Butler... Yet this is the best. Missy and Dan (and John), the arrival of all the others on stage, and the audience participation, make this this most sublime live performance ever.

It’s an Anthem and a lesson in Persistence. And yes, it’s a Folksong for and of “ the people”; John Butler called it correctly. Thank you to Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly for immortalising an amazing moment in Australia’s history..... the pouring of a handful of sand...

@@elizl4686 Dan Sultan is a descendant of Vincent Lingiari. From the National Portrait Gallery: "Dan Sultan (b. 1983), Arrernte/Gurindji singer/songwriter, grew up in Melbourne. Sultan's father is Irish and his mother, of the Arrernte/Gurindji people of the Northern Territory, is a direct descendent of Vincent Lingiari, the Wave Hill stockman and land rights leader, and is part of the Stolen Generations, taken from her family at the age of seven."
