You need to respect how hard it was to make electronic music in the 30s. I mean, this was 30 years ahead of it's time. It probably wasn't until the Beatles made Tomorrow Never Knows that it this surpassed as an electronic recording

Has this ever been sampled in by any chance? Just imagine a modern day rave track being played in some warehouse in Berlin or a field at Glastonbury and a group of people dancing to this with drum beat behind it. Not realising that this was an absolute breakthrough in Musical History.

I guess there is some digital glitching like in 0:51 and many more. All audio signal stops for a second fraction, seems more digital than analog kind of error.

Do you know of any variable-speed phonograph recordings or electroacoustic recorsings that pre-date this? i've heard about some pieces by Hindemeth and Toch that may have inspired Cage in 1930, but haven't found any recorded material before 'imaginary landscapes'.

This really isn't that bizarre; it's just electronic music, and it's an amazing use of limited technologies to create such an interesting soundworld in this piece, which I like a lot. Forgive me, but your comment is rather close minded and limited in its thinking.

There would be no music if people never experimented and made weird shit along the way. This is the earliest example of electronic music we have recorded, he was way ahead of his time even if it’s not something many enjoy.
