Jack Burton is peak Kurt Russell. Kurt is great in every role he's done especially when he's working with John Carpenter but as Jack Burton, Kurt is dripping with swagger and chewing the scenery all while playing an incompetent fool. @maxdangers5 күн бұрын
@@childofthesun32 @childofthesun32 Oh yeah for sure, the A-Team was like everyone involved in that movie won a raffle to work on it haha. I think the performers and crew put more effort in and it shows too when they really love a project. I would extend that to the likes of spaceballs and Blazing Saddles but if your movie is a comedy, full of comedic actors and comedians then of course it's going to be light-hearted all around. These movies had a bit of everything and they're not strictly comedies, neither are they full of comedians and comedic actors, it's special when we see it, it gives you a good feeling beyond that of seeing a movie you really like.

My favourite thing about this is that the commentaries for Escape From New York, The Thing and Big Trouble were all recorded on the same exact day at Carpenter’s home. Russell brought whisky and Carpenter had beers. Gradually, each commentary becomes more unhinged, as the two become more and more drunk and disorderly. It makes it so funny to me that essentially we’re hearing two old friends get drunk and reminisce about their youths.

I could listen to these guys talk forever. And Kurt's laugh. Golden.

One of my all-time favorite films. Every line is quotable. Every frame is perfectly placed. The characters were well written for the world they lived in. Remaking this gem would be a waste of time, and a disservice to the original and its cast and crew. Watch this film, and see what a great movie looks like... :)

Saw it in a theater, bought the VHS when it came out, and later the DVD. Lost count how many times I’ve watched it. After watching, "I feel pretty good, I'm not, huh, I'm not scared at all, I just feel kind of, feel kind of invincible."

I use this movie in my cross cultural communication class for exactly the reason they mention: the sidekick is the big tough white guy and the asian guy is the hero. it makes for great learning experiences with japanese students

Can't tell how much satire was in Carpenter saying Captain Ron is his favorite Kurt Russell performance. Fantastic!

Just found out this came out the day I left home for basic training (seems somehow fitting although there was nothing funny about Ft. Jackson, SC in July and August). Saw it the first time on cable several years later and thought it was older than it actually was and wondered how I had missed it. Fantastic matinee fun at home in the recliner on your day off; love both these guys and their art.

My dad would work nights sometimes and my mom would take me to see movies that he probably wouldn't want to go see. This was one of those movies. Good memories.

I saw this on cable TV at an aunts house when I was very young. It scared the piss out of me. Then I watched as an adult and laughed my ass off!

To me, this is the greatest movie of all time. I was twelve during the summer before junior high when I watched Optimus Prime die, Aliens and this movie. All bangers.

This movie embodies my childhood imagination and is literally one of my favorite films because it took all my favorite genres and rolled it into one

You can tell that the case and crew had a good time making this film just as much as the Buckaroo Banzaii crew did. And it shows in the end product. They’re both pure joy from beginning to end.
