Off center(as someone already here noticed), slightly warped and something like 25-30% of the actual music heard in the movie. I wish someone would bring the OST (as in "original movie soundtrack") out on vinyl.

This movie rather inspired what I drive today. The snowcats were yellow, with sealed beam headlights, overhead lights, we're unstoppable in snow, very basic and utilitarian. John Carpenter's The Thing, is the most frightening horror movie I have ever seen. Perhaps a ten year old should not have watched it. But what is a kid going to do when his parents say, "You are not allowed to watch that movie?" Of course, I found a way to watch it. Today, I do not regret it at all. At ten years old, wow, did I regret it. I had night mares until I was 18 years of age. I think it messed up my mind. Every time I am going home after a very heavy snow storm where only my vehicle can make it through the deep snow, I hear the low bass rhythm heard when the Norwegian helicopter is chasing what appears to be a husky.

Same for me man ^^ I've seen the movie one night on TV (i was 13) and didn't know any"thing" 'bout it. When the "dog scene" appeared on the screen i was so frightened that i jumped of my sit ! Well... i watched the movie till the end AND had many nightmare too about the monster thing. What a great time to be alive that was !! (the eighties missed me so much) :).
@indridcold84332 жыл бұрын
@@oscribe2772 I am an old POS now. However, I still feel discomfort when I watch that movie. I intentionally watch it to desensitize myself but also because the movie is genius. This type of genius is extremely rare in today's movies. I must respect John Carpenter's The Thing, even if I am still made uncomfortable. The Thing was essentially a virus that hijacked the organism it infected and then duplicated the organism and used it to reproduce, just like a virus. This type of horror movie needs to return. The Thing 2011, was actually good, as well. But it lacked the dark, extremely isolated, suspicious unnerving feeling the characters had for each other on The Thing 1981. Do not get me wrong. I still enjoyed 2011. It just was not the same.

I still have claustrophobic nightmares based on that movie. Watched it when I was 6 years old.
@indridcold8433 Жыл бұрын
@@jaeger4898 You may be more messed up than me. Do you ever hear the low monotonous bass sound heard when the, "huskey," is being chased? Winter is, by far, my favourite season. Maybe is because I think, "the thing," will freeze with ease in that environment. But the unnerved feeling always comes over me in the long winter nights with lots of snow. Sometimes parents are right when they say, "Do not watch that movie."

You see, what we're talking about here is an organism that imitates other life forms, and imitates them perfectly. When this Thing attacked our dogs, it tried to digest them. Absorb them. And in the process, shape its own cells to imitate them. This, for instance, that's not dog. That's imitation. We got to it before it had time to finish.

It is so appropriate that the disc is white in colour. Tonight, we get half a metre of snow fall. It is likely I will lose municipal power. The generator has new oil rings on the pistons and the cylinders rehoned last autumn. But, am I ready for the extreme isolation that will come. There is an old CB radio in the Jeep. There is an old ham radio in the basement. But there will be no other form of communication. If the internet connection stays up, I can use a VoiP0 programme for my computer if an emergency should arise. If the internet connection fails, all I will have are radios made in the 1980s for some sort of distress call. Ironic that the radios are that old, as is this masterpiece of a movie, that I am sort of wishing maybe I did not watch. The snow begins at approximately 22:00 UTC. It is currently 17:00 UTC. The first flakes of snow are drifting about now. It is time to charge batteries, fill the generator with diesel.

It always amaze me how vinyl is good for symphonic music. If it was not for the inherent Physical downside of the format (hiss and hum!) I would prefer it to the CD. But CD will always win for one reason. You can listen to it 2000 times. The sound will always be the same. Which is not not case with Vinyl. By the way the sound of your system is incredibly good with all minimal unwanted noises.
