I do wish there were more Cavett releases available...Whatever people may think of him, he had some great guests and responded well to all of them....and I think he had a great sense of humour...

Cleese has undermined his singing ability in several interviews, yet in the intro to the "Vocational Guidance Counselor" bit in episode 10, which was done in four-part progressive harmony, he sang the last line perfectly, and it was the 7th note, arguably the most difficult to harmonize.

@princesstamika It must be Wolf J. Flywheel, Groucho's character in "The Big Store." Less likely, it was his character Waldorf T. Flywheel in the early-'30s radio program about a law firm, "Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel."

I guess it must have been this show. I don't know if John was on prior to this, and the show didn't last much longer. I love both Colbert and Cleese. Never heard that comment by Colbert, but I can see what he means. Like what Palin said in his interview, people always expect you to be funny. Howard Stern feels the same way - when he does a TV interview show he always feels he has to be amazingly funny instead of just relaxing and being real. I would like it either way.

Amazingly preserved colors for late 70s videotape. As someone who is used to the main Dick Cavett channel's very washed out look looking very 70s, his looks more like something from the late 90s early 2000s were it not for the lack of sharpness.

Interesting that you should say that. Because I recently watched a contemporary interview with Cleese . . . in which he cites the fact that he now speaks in a lower pitch as evidence for the success of the psychotherapy he undertook.

So, you have a problem with the BBC editing? Every media organisation edits, that's part of how media works. You'll find that "Have you visited Mr. Cameron at No.10?" is a 'closed question', that only requires a "yes" or "no" answer, no more. Perhaps the BBC edited it to be consistent with the logical structure of the English language? It's not like the BBC could possibly suppress the additional and unnecessary "& Mr. Brown" in the internet age, so I think you're barking up the wrong tree there.

You sidestepped my point about open & closed questions & their appropriate responses, suggesting you accept the point in this case, or have no argument against it. I say, in this case, the edit was consistent with the logic of the English language, other cases can be argued on their own merits. I Read news on a daily basis from various news sources from the UK as well as from Germany, France & the USA & I don't see the BBC as being politically partisan. They try (at least) to be neutral imo.
