Quo 1971 to 1976 were gods gift to head banging Quo rock fans, what happened after that is not worth worrying about. I am so glad I grew up in that golden 70's era sadly we will not see anything like it again.

Alan Lancaster 7/02/1949 - 26/09/2021 Bassist/Singer/Songwriter/ Producer/Genius of STATUS QUO fame, has died aged 72 of Multiple Sclerosis at his Sydney home, surrounded by his family. Born in London, he moved to Australia in 1976 after marrying his beautiful wife Dayle. Alan wrote and co-wrote many classic Rock songs The 9 1/2 minute Psych/Rock song "Is It Really Me, Gotta Go Home" was written by the Genius of Alan Charles Lancaster. Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album 1970 on the Astor / Pye Label. Produced by the late / great John Schroeder. Anyone who met Nuff would know first hand what a beautiful, sweet and charming gentleman he was. I had the pleasure of socialising with Alan at a few gigs in the late 80's, at some of his gigs with The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster / Brewster Band and The Party Boys, the latter having 2 Chart Topping Hits. " Hold Your Head Up " by Argent and " He's Gonna Step On You Again " by John Kongos. Alan produced a multi-platinum selling album for Pianist Roger Woodward.

For me the greatest and best ever rock band. Nothing even come close. The Frantic Four are unmatched. Alan has such a great voice. Johns shuffle drumming defined the Quo sound and adding to that the best rythm guitarist ever Rick (RIP) Parfitt. Sad that Mr Rossi's ego and lust for money destroyed the band.

It was not Francis who was at fault for the end of the Frantic four. He wrote the hits which made Quo famous in the first place, so don't talk shit about him. John left on his own and Alan just had it coming.

@@ducatisti1098 RAOTW was the last single where I felt they were true (albeit a cover of John Fogerty's). The definition of the band was as close as you could get to a 25% split, 3 shared co-writers, 3 shared vocalists and a shuffle drum that held it all together and led the direction.

Alan Lancaster blew his only chance to make a first impression when I was 9 years old. (45 years ago) Waiting outside. I asked for his autograph on my program... He tossed my program and snapped my pen. Rhino on the other hand. Met him a few times over the years and had conversations walking down the street.

We must be of the same generation. I used to idolise Rossi (including dressing up like him at the 76-79 gigs!!) but in later years he pushed the band in a blandola pop direction. Even at the FF reunion gigs he seemed totally disinterested. If I had the choice this is the version of Quo I'd be paying my money to see now.

He didn't leave...Quo had officially dispanded at the time.Alan came over as a "one off" to do the live aid charity concert at wembley in 1985..Rossi saw this as an oppotunity to carry on the quo as "He could do no wrong" at the time. He won a court ruling to carry on the quo that should never have won..Alan went bananas as he knew this would tarnish the quo..He was right.

@@metalwarrior6379 Rossi had no intention of carrying on, it was the record label that wanted another album, as per contract, and they didn't give a toss who was on bass or drums as long as Rossi and parfitt ( to the record co they were the face of Quo!) and Rossi agreed as long as AL wasn't in the band, as they were at loggerheads at the time. Rossi enjoyed working with new blood after a while, but that was only because they had to promote this album ( in the army now) then they got the bug again......
