Two Basses! Coltrane had just recorded Olé Coltrane with two basses on May 25, 1961, and made the famous recording of the opening tune on Impressions (Impulse!) at the Village Vanguard on November 3, 1961. McCoy's Naima sounds different, here; the block chords feel more like an Ahmad Jamal recording. NOTE: There was no Newport Jazz Festival in 1961, due to rowdy crowds at the 1960 event.
